@@Rangsk I got the RSVPING entry but missed the further layer to the theme until Chris Remo pointed it out ! I had just noted the first letter of each of the four theme clues . You picked that up very quickly right near the start.
Don't forget, if the clue is pluralized (like for 18-Across, "Geologic layers") then the answer will almost always *also* be a plural (and will usually always end in "S", at least earlier in the week).
Yep, although this one was a tricky Tuesday: both STRATA and TARSI have non-standard endings-thanks Latin!
