G518s had 20” rims (wheels). The tires should be 7.5 x 20. Great trailer. Don’t hack up anything or scrap it, no matter how rusty...it’ll be worth more if you have all the original parts if you ever sell it (draw bar bracket, lunette, reflectors, data plate, etc).
Nice. We have the more modern version and it's a wonderful trailer. Super solid. Sadly ours is restricted to offroad use only atm, but I'm sure it could be put back on the road easily. I don't know that my dad has ever done any maintenance to it, doesn't need it. Big tires are great in the woods, I'd keep em personally. Looks like both the hitch and lunette have been flipped, so that gives you 4 possible positions for height.
Just found this. Did you ever change the towing eye (lunette)? I'm restoring the same model of trailer and would be interested in purchasing the whole lunette assembly and the wheels. I'm in upper NY state, zip 13669 so shipping might be a few bucks. Cheers! Mike
It is just a square tube axle but I guess this is a bolt pattern common on stuff so new 16" steel rims are in the $65 range. Not too bad. Have to price out rims, rubber and shipping and see what an axle kit costs in comparison.
Too bad you’re not closer than 1500 miles. I’d give you one. Check the wrecking yards for wrecked rv’s or if you have a tractor supply. On line axles are fairly reasonable too. I have an old bucket truck with that same wheel and tires. Tires pretty pricey because they’re kinda obsolete. Good luck!,
Nelson, Don't destroy this trailer!!! Correctly restored it will fetch upwards of $3000.00, I KID YOU NOT!!! PUT DOWN THE BLUE WRENCH AND BACK AWAY!!!!! Look here; forums.g503.com/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=293781..................
Okay, sorry, didn't mean to imply that you referred to the trailer as junk you did not. But please don't destroy this piece of W.W. 2 history. I have amended my original statement.
NelsonStudios id definitely recomend the 16s get a flat and need a tire with the ones on it chances are your going to be searching for an odd ball tire on a sunday past 5pm lol....and we all know how that goes

my guess is its a g 518 ben hur trailer and it looks like those are around the same size wheels they originally had
Rims maybe but if you load it the rubber is not going to clear the fenders. I bet it is supposed to have an 11.00 tire on it.

Did you ever get yourself a lunette assembly? I have one I can part with.
What a deal!
Turns out the reflector I pulled off is worth $50-$75 and Shay's marbles another $25. Trailer is already making me money. lol
Cheaper to change the axle out with modern wheels, tires and hubs.
Those are probably original wheels.

When did I say it was old junk? I had to cut the steel off the lunette ring in order to use it. It is now back at work hauling stuff around the farm.

pretty sure those are the same wheels from a m35a2
I imagine they are, I think I found a place that will sell me 16 inch steel wheels, that would let me go to a much smaller tire.

Bargain - will look good (if a little small) behind the army trucks.
