I was born in 84. I discovered post-punk in the early 00s by way of indie rock of that time (much of which was influenced by music of the 80s). I heard "Third Uncle" by Bauhaus and decided to listen to the original. I'm so glad I did. I went down the Eno rabbit hole and never left lol
I was a teenager living in Greece in the 1980s. One night I had a bit to drink and a lot to smoke and found myself lying on a beach. A friend had given me Eno's "Another Green World" album on cassette and I stuck it in my Walkman and lay there looking up at the stars. It was close to being a genuinely religious experience. 40 years later and I probably still listen to more Eno than any other artist (though David Byrne and David Bowie -- both of whom he has worked closely with -- come close). Everything from his ambient stuff, through experimental pop and glam rock. He's rarely put a foot wrong. I don't want to start recommending tracks, because I'll just end up listing a dozen and then get mad that I left out something incredible. So I'll stick to one... check out "Spinning Away" from the album he made with John Cale, "Wrong Way Up". Just gorgeous.
Love Spinning away! I began listening at 17 and still listening in my 60’s. Thanks for sharing this great memory. Another Green World is still my fave!
As soon as it started I recognized it immediately! My fave Eno used to be “3rd Uncle” but then his collaboration with David Byrne “My Life in the Bush of Ghosts” was released and that whole album is my favourite Eno now
All his songs are beautiful creative and different. Stand outs for me on this album are Backwater, Spider and I, Kings Lead Hat. This and Another Green World are my favorite of his albums.
This song grows on you... and when you connect it to the groups that sold MILLIONS of copies of their album which were produced by Eno (Talking heads...Devo...Bowie) and sound suspciously identical to this.... this song becomes better.
Some Eno essential; Baby's On Fire - from his debut solo album Here Come The Warm Jets Spinning Away - from his collaboration with John Cale, Wrong Way Up Under - Originally from the Cool World soundtrack An Ending (Ascent) - Shockingly beautiful ambient classic from Apollo Thursday Afternoon - An hour long single track album of surreally peaceful "holographic" ambient which he said meant each segment contains a representation of the whole piece His ambient piano collaborations with Harold Budd are also excellent and you should do something from his 4th album with Bowie, the dark, strange and underrated mid 90s industrial concept album 1. Outside
His full name!? Nah, not even close, go look it up sometime. His full name is quite ludicrous... in a posh boy way. Oh, alright, if you really insist: Brian Peter George St John le Baptiste de la Salle Eno.
"By this river" is the best on the album. But as most Brian Eno albums it is an album you should listen to in connection with the other tracks, you shouldn't single out a track like this to listen to. Give the whole album a listen, it is a whole album experience, a concept album of sort, the concept of an ambience or texture
The ‘second side’ of this has two fantastic tunes - Julie with… and By this River SO good. The whole ‘side’ is great
I discovered Eno in my early teens! Nearly 50 years later it amazes me how his timeless music continues to inspire!
He's so wonderfully strange - love his work and I´m glad you appreciate him and I hope there will be more
You can see why he fused so well with Talking Heads.
Eno was years ahead of his time. Kings Lead Hat is a must from this album
and so is "By this river"
and Julie with
An anagram of 'Talking Heads' !!..
@@AntonyFleck yes. Enos next project.
In the very early 1980s I started listening to Eno. Many friends just did not get it. I am still listening!!!
This album is incredible.

Possibly my favourite Eno Lp , such texture, colours and funk !
Takes me straight back to my tpippy teenage 70s!!....
Brian Eno = Architect of Sound. Shortly after the album's release, he was a producer for DEVO and the Talking Heads.

SPINNING AWAY-excellent recommendation. So much from the Eno canon from which to choose’
When Eno did funk, he did funk!

Many collaborations with many artists. All worth investigating. Eno rules.
You can hear where LCD Soundsystem got their sound with this song.
His collaborations with Bowie are solidly great stuff
Everything on "Before and After Science" deserves listening! It's crucial for you, Lee, to hear, "Through Hollow Lands", especially.
Check out Enos collaboration with German band Cluster, well worth your time IMHO
I'll check it out! Thank you for the suggestion

Wow. Check the bass player. Solid and outstanding. Percy Jones. Top Shelf.
That's my favorite Eno song.
Jane! 👍

Here Come the Warm Jets. Album 1973. By Eno. The next 40 years of music starts there
I’m trying to take one album at a time and play a song you’re welcome to request something from that. I love Eno.
@@janewells5970 how about a live video of Eno when he was with Roxy Music? Virginia Plain? or IN EVERY DREAM HOME A HEARTACHE?
@@Cheryworld please! Would love for you to play!

You could follow Eno and go in a hundred different directions
I'm getting that feeling too lol just from two songs
Bowie sounds like Eno. Whatever mixing board Eno touches gets the Eno sauce: Talking Heads, Bowie, U2, et. al.
You should also look into Connie Plank’s album Zero Set
there are three Bowie albums that were Eno collaborations. More, actually
You should try My Life In the Bush of Ghosts. He partnered with David Byrne. Drop the needle anywhere on that album.
Now listen to "Stay" by David Bowie.
I did! ruclips.net/video/KM4KKkWGHec/видео.html
That's why I felt the bowie vibes ;)
The time of the cruise… That’s so sad, Lee….
Good song, but clearly not the best on the album. I prefer "Backwater", Julie With..:" and "Spider And I".
