Who would've guessed. 3:25 "You paid for Gems and they didn't give you an advantage outside of looking cool" Except for the fact that almost 1/5 of the skins in Smite are competitively banned at any given time. They would have problems with the effects and/or audio that would actually cause a player to have a competitive advantage. The Anime Rat skins (Kage/Kitsune/Grand Fusion) are a prime example of this as the sound cue that plays for his ultimate is notably quieter than the normal Ratatoskr ultimate, for example. 3:45 "If you were a legacy Smite 1 player and had gems, you would move to Smite 2 and inherit Diamonds. No, they EXPLICITLY SAID you would get LEAGACY GEMS which were good for use on new content at a 50% rate (need to pay half the cost in diamonds as well) and old S1 content at a 100% rate. I understand that short-form content is popular on RUclips, but that was genuinely misleading and lying in earnest to anyone who wasn't at the Season X SWC or watching at the time of the S2 announcement. On top of this, you even get the ratios wrong as a whole. You got the same number of LEGACY GEMS as you paid gems in S1. Double if you got certain tiers of the founder's pack. For example, I personally have spent almost 500 THOUSAND gems, I currently have 980k LEGACY GEMS in S2. They told players UP FRONT how this was going to work. If you're still upset that you're not instantly getting your 10 YEARS of content in S2, grow up. Maybe also take this stance with companies like Activision/Blizzard, Treyarch and other AAA studios that can actually afford it. Watch them completely blow you off. Let me remind you, you don't get to keep all your weapons and cosmetics from Modern Warfare 2 in Modern Warfare 3, either the classic OR the modern. 10:30 You're attempting to talk at Hi-Rez about how a CLOSED ALPHA saying that they've spit on people. First of all, if you pay into a CLOSED ALPHA expecting a polished game, you're a twit who isn't worth typing this all out to in the first place. Secondly, of course a company is going to use the fact that there are players in their game that's being tested to try to garner additional funding for the game itself. You also fail to mention how of all of the 'new skins' in Smite 2, ALL OF THEM ARE OBTAINABLE IN S1 AND WERE BUILT FOR BOTH ENGINES. Smite is currently running an event right now called Immortal Honor. In this event you pay in once and you unlock skins all year for BOTH S1 and S2. TLDR: Stop being a spoiled brat whining about skins and legacy gems, asking of Hi-Rez what you wouldn't bother/dare ask of Treyarch and other AAA studios. Stop lying to people about the status of the game as a whole.

I got like a little over 1M legacy gems and I already made up my mind to not play smite 2. I'm going to play smite 1 until its over. There was nothing wrong with Smite 1 besides balancing, I know easier said than done but I would gladly repay for a Revamp Smite 1. Same exact game just on Unreal 5. I been there since Geb Release date, and everything about smite was my favorite thing, first SPL was NUTS! and now we are here. As long as they keep smite 1 running I'm good, to hell with smite 2
Smite is a cash grab. Smite 2 is just like overwatch. It was a marketing scheme to ramp up hype and make money. They dont need to defend it because gate keepers exist already

@@OneYeti I think the game is garbage tbh. I know it's in alpha but it's not like they're making a whole new game. All they're doing is updating graphics and character models. The game isn't balanced at all, especially when you're a tank and get hit so hard by every god no matter what defense items you build. I don't understand why they have roles anymore in conquest when any God can go to whatever lane they want. If you don't build straight DPS then you're useless because you either get destroyed or don't do enough damage to count for anything.

This really is just click bait, I'll watch the video, but the majority of the Smite player base is extremely happy with the latest Alpha version. Yes there are obviously going to be complaints, But this game is still in ALPHA, and really hasn't even had a full dev team for even a full year yet. Sure the God pool is small, it was also small during Beta, and we aren't even to the point were we can call it a Beta.

I understand and agree that most of the problems people are complaining about are pretty dumb, but why do you have to pay money to unlock mastery skins for each individual god?

For someone who dumped like £1400 in the original and have 1000 hours in it, I'm not disappointed in the slightest at the early ALPHA of its follow up, I've played since the beta back on the Xbox One, which was paid for, the original in its beta stages was just similar to this, asked money for skins and to be able to buy the gods with the god bundle, which you needed at the time to play the game. Smite 2 looks promising, and am happy like a lot of people that they actually GAVE us something instead of just saying "Smite 2" start from a blank slate with nothing and give us all your money. I've got a fair few legacy gems and look forward to buying more skins at 50% off instead of having to buy them at full price like back in Smite. Good Title though, really hooked me in to watch the vid 😀
Theres alot of people that made up this narrative that legacy gem they never said they would convert to the new currency and said they would cover half of most things and any legacy skins will be purchased 100% with legacy gem. No one paid for the alpha you paid for the god pack and got alpha access as a bonus. I do no like the ascension passes and do agree that there shouldnt be a store yet.

They literally said it would be used as a coupon. It took them a full week of backlash to walk it back and claim it wasnt. I was there at the first announcement of Smite 2, it was a shitstorm.

@@jessegamer7 Because they referenced Ow2 and CS in an interview, both of which had skins transfer. Smite 1 requires an engine update to continue running, as it is singing its last verse currently, but its not happening in favor of Smite 2, which IS getting new engines. Claiming they wont sunset the game means nothing if they wont fix the core issues that is going to kill the game on its own. The issue with legacy gems is that people spent tons on the main game, even have unspent currency in some cases. Originally they claimed that if you had gems in Smite 1, this would transfer to a special currency in Smite 2, which would give you a discount on Smite 2 products, meaning you would be forced to spend MORE to even get anything for it. That is not "getting anything" for free, but literally just rephrasing the word "coupon" with more words. This was walked back days later after tons of negative backlash and media attention, after which they claimed to clarify the "legacy gems" would unlock some items fully on their own - which is still only 10% or less of the game, from what I have heard. Additionally, they are supposedly doing Smite 2, to try to bring in new players, more players, to the space, but the issue is, that they are alienating a ton of players who are already core fans, core paying fans, for the sake of "attempting" to bring in new players.
I have played smite since beta. I love smite and the idea of it as a 3rd person moba. It hurts me so much to see this game dying like that. I hope they wake up.
@@OneYeti I am not even going to play it yet. I am not jumping to smite 2 until it’s fully released. I played smite during its closed stages and I barely held on, I won’t do the same thing twice. Smite 2 needs a lot more polishing and I do believe it will make a great game but not yet.
Ive been playing since season 1, hirez has done many things wrong and rhings right, but I dont agree with a single thing a couple of people keep complaining about. People just love to complain. Gems were veeery easy to get and people still called Hirez greedy, when getting skins was very cheap (specially compared to other games). It's also ridiculous because they are just skins, and the fact that's the first thing people are complaining about in an alfa is even more ridiculous, it literally has like 5 skins because their focus is actually getting the gods in the game first. No, you're paying for the god pack and double your gems, it just has the extra perk of closed alpha. Which is more than smite 1 god pack would give you for the same price. Also, this was already talked about. It's a new game. The fact they are giving you any gems is the opposute of greedy, and since day one they said that it would only be 50% except for old smite 1 skins which will be 100% purchasable with gems. They were very transparent about this since day 1. So you are actually NOT paying for old skins from smite 1. Again, new game. You cant rent a few pixels and then think you own it forever. One last thing, I think you havent understood how the ranking matchmaking actually works. Also, you are comparing a peek during a pandemic with a payed alpha. Smite 1 has been dying way before smite 2 was announced, it was nowhere near the pandemic numbers. So no, keeping smite 1 was never viable. smite 2 is a desperate and needed attempt to save smite, last chance
I understand some of your points, but don't agree on all of them. No one is seeing video game peaks like the pandemic, but that wasn't a comparison I made is it's not todays reality you know. It was holding over 10k daily players just on steam, presuming more come from the client itself. the wall I think is the £25 get in fee... And as to comparing smite 2 and smite 1 its not a good comparison smite 2 is still in alpha most people won't jump into an alpha and smite 1 is a full game with 11 years of thing in it its not a valid comparison

@@OneYeti The god pack in smite 1 was 30$ which is what you are paying for. I understand many people bought the founders pack for the alfa, but that's more on them. At the end of the day what you buy wasnt just that. It was the actual godpack for smite 2, which is actually how they presented the whole thing, as a godpack with extra perks. It's also just a couple of months until it's released, I honestly dont understand why it's such a big deal for some people. And many people are getting free keys. Maybe I dont get it because I never put money into games (15 euros in total in my entire gaming life), and still have all the skins and everything I love in Smite, which is not my experience in other games where getting skins for free is impossible. I come from that comparisom, I cant see them as greedy for asking you to pay for new skins when that's just reasonable. It's not that you didnt get it at all, it's just that there are a few things to consider that were ignored. For starters de whole "no limit" in ranked, is just temporary. They want to see at what level they should put restrictions, lower levels may have more rank allowance than higher ranks which will probably be more restricted. On the other hand, matchmaking has actually been improved a lot, not only are solo queues now fully impelmented, but in the next patches we are getting individual role SR which improves the whole thing massively. Smurfs are a problem, but honestly, they will always be in any online game. They have done things to limit it, but sadly, it's like toxic people, no way to get rid of them all forever. So the issue itself you are talkinf about isn't a SRS issue but more of a "it's alfa so we are going to keep experimenting" issue. No worries, good luck with your channel. Can't Imagine how long it would take the devs to rework all smite 1 skins for the current cast designed on an outdated engine. Doubt its as simple as copy and paste.
They originally claimed it was super hard. Then they release "hype videos" with "behind the scenes" on Smite 2, showing them praising UE5 in how "easy" it is to direct port stuff from Smite 1 to the game. It is a straight cash grab.
I certainly have my gripes with Smite 2 but the least of them is Hi-Rez trying to make money. Their glorious leader is a moron and sinks all their new projects. They've had multiple projects in a row fall thru. Is that the customer's problem? Of course not but Devs don't work for free. Matching 50% of every dollar you've ever spent is just better than you'll ever realistically see from a company. It's a dumb hill to die on. I have the skins that have been ported over btw. I haven't bought them. They were ported? I owned it in Smite? I have it in Smite 2. They are not porting over every single Smite 1 skin because that does require man hours. Man hours that an accountant has to approve. The game play feels rough and the items need tuning. If they're going to be so slow about adding to the roster than the limited roster does actually need to be balanced it being in Alpha isn't an excuse when there's only 20 characters and 18 of them are not new.
They had interviews where they bragged about doing this like Overwatch 2. Overwatch 2, despite failing as it was a literal cash grab, carried over skins at the very least - Smite 2 wont even do that, and while claiming they cant just "port over skins" they have had "behind the scenes" videos of them LITERALLY porting over environments, even praising UE5 about how easy it is to port stuff in there. Them claiming they cant do skins is outright lying at this point and a transparent cash grab.
I think there is one feature that Hi-Rez added to Smite 2 that a lot of players don’t know about. This includes the daily login which includes gems as the reward for logging in everyday. Though it is not yet active in the Alpha, I think this is actually a very generous and valuable move that Hi-Rez did that will subside lots of the complaints regarding paying for the ascension pass and some other things. Sure, it might take a while until you can buy something, but I think that this is a great addition for players who are looking to play this game without spending anything when it comes out.

I just paid 30$ on ps5 .. ive played two hrs. Ik the game us not finished , but the game definitely needs work. The legacy gems sure is ok. But theres new currency... The diamonds.. man that was a slap in the face.. i dibt think ill be forking any money on this game. Ps. The toxic players from og smute carried over aswell. Trying to figure out new builds is definitely a pain when your own teammates talking crap and throwing the game sitting in base just spamming the emote, thats to bad.. I rather stay in OG SMITE

@@OneYeti I think its a marketing choice. Alpha isnt their big launch, making it F2P means ppl will see it as such and be disappointed about its state, possibly never to return. They couldve added a cheaper tier for 24/7 access tho, where you just get access but none of the other stuff for like 10-15 bucks. Overall I dont think the practice itself is greedy tho, its just a safeguard. And they couldnt have possibly known Deadlock woukd launch alpha 3 days prior. But why is Deadlock free? I mean its still based on invites, be it easy to get, but there is a barrier. But also, its a new game so ppl are more generous and it might be in a better state (havent played it). We can literally see ppl flaming Smite2 because they hold onto what was in Smite1, not even taking the price into account. Tbf Smite 2 is technically still paid access. Once it’s in open beta I expect a much larger influx of players since it will be free to play and the game will have a lot more content and polish by then. I think it is a bit too early to be making any absolute judgments of the game until we get further down the road of development. Also any complaints about in game currency is just dumb. The gameplay is the only thing that matters. If the game is really fun, people will play it

been playing smite 1 since beta... do people remember how that was? SMITE 2 is in ALPHA. If you don't understand the difference between Unreal Engine 3 and 5, you can't just port skins over, they would look crappier then in SMITE 1. TECHNICALLY like with the JOKI LOKI skin you can buy it for 100% legacy gems, and if you 've bought the founderpack you got double legacy gems so that means you don't have to buy that same skin twice you got it free and even some spare legacy gems. Why be mad? they could also just stop SMITE 1, close servers and you also would have lost every skin. I understand it still looks like crap but for an ALPHA it plays rather smooth imo. I don't even have my legacy gems atm just playing OG gods in OG skins.. have fun with what you have and not with what you THINK you want.

This issue of Hirez is greedy and they're not respecting players wallets needs to fucking die. You get something called legacy gems which can contribute to half the price of Smite 2 exclusive content, or FULL PRICE FOR OLD SMITE 1 skins they plan to bring back. You also right now, can buy skins in smite 1 that''ll have a smite 2 version that you get for both games, and you get legacy gems for not only that gems purchase and a bonus for buying the skins. The founders pack, which is helping fund this project gives you double the legacy gems, so you have a long valid 50% discount or free discount (Based on skins individual basis) You get free diamonds for mastering gods in the game The AAA companies, namely your games that have a yearly release schedules literally burn hundreds of thousands of people's cash in the thousands of dollars every time they drop a new game. This system, if a little confusing at first is probably one of the most generous systems sans porting skins over in games where the skins have actual dollar value in a trading market, which smite does not have. Do your research instead of skimming reddit and glancing at the patch notes. The wider playerbase are enjoying the game, Weak3n, Smite 2's harshest critic is in love with the game right now.

Literally anybody complaining doesn't have the capacity to read and comprehend what Hirez has told them time and time again. It's an Alpha. Nobody cares about the favor you're getting for a gods ascension pass. If you want to play with your skins there's smite 1, if you want the game to actually grow there's smite 2 with an engine that doesn't use flash player of all things. The game has come a massive way so far in such a short amount of time because of how hard they're working to get this to a place players will love. After my gems doubled for smite 2 I have around 500k legacy gems and couldn't care less about losing skins, why? If something comes back I care about I can straight up purchase it. If they port skins I DON'T care about, it's like a refund of my smite 1 gems I can spend elsewhere. This topic has gotten to bloated it's honestly depressing and saddening that people straight up cannot fucking read. I have a lifetime of half off purchases more or less and am looking to spend another 10k+ hours in smite 2. Replying because I finished the video, but you're even showing catered SS's of player numbers lmfao. It top 4'd New and trending and capped out at around 23~24k people for a paid closed alpha which is very impressive. This is just a negative video for the sake of being negative and hoping to gain traction and that is not a good look. Do your proper research next time please before you try to break down what people have somehow turned a lackluster closed alpha into a very real and playable game in the span of a few months actively listening to community feedback. This is what we need and want, if you are hurt that your purchases are left in the past because it's a NEW ENGINE AND SKINS CANNOT BE PORTED EASILY, that's on you. If half off purchases equal to what you spent over the course of 11 years isn't enough for you maybe stop buying skins if you can't afford them. Do better, and read.

Most players who remained are happy sure, but when it was announced it split the playerbase, as they made it clear what their plans are, to sunset Smite for this. They compared themselves to Overwatch 2, despite not offering Skin transfers like Overwatch 2 did (despite praising how easy it is to port stuff over to UE5 in BTS videos, contrary to their original statement of it being hard). Overwatch 2 also infamously sunset Overwatch 1 to force the focus of players over to Overwatch 2. There is literally no way they will keep Smite going, because it requires Smite 2 due to Smite 1 having outdated engines. This should have been a patch as it is the only way for Smite 1 to survive, but they named it Smite 2 instead, making it clear they are sunsetting it. When their original boat, is filled with holes, and sinking, and they buy a new boat, claiming they will keep the old one going too, without patching it - lol, sure, totally.
How people aren't mad, or being argued/attacked against as being mad, for HiRez being greedy is beyond me....because they ARE. I get it, they're a business that needs to make money but they messed up with Smite and their business practices therein. That's on them. Any other company would say, let's use a new IP and create a better game with better business practices. They didn't do that. They instead regurgitated the same game, on a new engine, and slightly changed some aspects while requiring you to purchase the game (the same game you've been playing for free for several years, me included), and only giving you a margin of your prior investment back. Except for the fact that almost 1/5 of the skins in Smite are competitively banned at any given time. They would have problems with the effects and/or audio that would actually cause a player to have a competitive advantage. The Anime Rat skins (Kage/Kitsune/Grand Fusion) are a prime example of this as the sound cue that plays for his ultimate is notably quieter than the normal Ratatoskr ultimate, for example.

No, they EXPLICITLY SAID you would get LEAGACY GEMS which were good for use on new content at a 50% rate (need to pay half the cost in diamonds as well) and old S1 content at a 100% rate. I understand that short-form content is popular on RUclips, but that was genuinely misleading and lying in earnest to anyone who wasn't at the Season X SWC or watching at the time of the S2 announcement.
On top of this, you even get the ratios wrong as a whole. You got the same number of LEGACY GEMS as you paid gems in S1. Double if you got certain tiers of the founder's pack. For example, I personally have spent almost 500 THOUSAND gems, I currently have 980k LEGACY GEMS in S2. They told players UP FRONT how this was going to work. If you're still upset that you're not instantly getting your 10 YEARS of content in S2, grow up. Maybe also take this stance with companies like Activision/Blizzard, Treyarch and other AAA studios that can actually afford it. Watch them completely blow you off.
Let me remind you, you don't get to keep all your weapons and cosmetics from Modern Warfare 2 in Modern Warfare 3, either the classic OR the modern.

First of all, if you pay into a CLOSED ALPHA expecting a polished game, you're a twit who isn't worth typing this all out to in the first place. Secondly, of course a company is going to use the fact that there are players in their game that's being tested to try to garner additional funding for the game itself.
You also fail to mention how of all of the 'new skins' in Smite 2, ALL OF THEM ARE OBTAINABLE IN S1 AND WERE BUILT FOR BOTH ENGINES. Smite is currently running an event right now called Immortal Honor. In this event you pay in once and you unlock skins all year for BOTH S1 and S2.

I got like a little over 1M legacy gems and I already made up my mind to not play smite 2. I'm going to play smite 1 until its over. There was nothing wrong with Smite 1 besides balancing, I know easier said than done but I would gladly repay for a Revamp Smite 1. Same exact game just on Unreal 5. I been there since Geb Release date, and everything about smite was my favorite thing, first SPL was NUTS! and now we are here. As long as they keep smite 1 running I'm good, to hell with smite 2

@@OneYeti I think the game is garbage tbh. I know it's in alpha but it's not like they're making a whole new game. All they're doing is updating graphics and character models. The game isn't balanced at all, especially when you're a tank and get hit so hard by every god no matter what defense items you build. I don't understand why they have roles anymore in conquest when any God can go to whatever lane they want. If you don't build straight DPS then you're useless because you either get destroyed or don't do enough damage to count for anything.

This really is just click bait, I'll watch the video, but the majority of the Smite player base is extremely happy with the latest Alpha version. Yes there are obviously going to be complaints, But this game is still in ALPHA, and really hasn't even had a full dev team for even a full year yet. Sure the God pool is small, it was also small during Beta, and we aren't even to the point were we can call it a Beta.

For someone who dumped like £1400 in the original and have 1000 hours in it, I'm not disappointed in the slightest at the early ALPHA of its follow up, I've played since the beta back on the Xbox One, which was paid for, the original in its beta stages was just similar to this, asked money for skins and to be able to buy the gods with the god bundle, which you needed at the time to play the game. Smite 2 looks promising, and am happy like a lot of people that they actually GAVE us something instead of just saying "Smite 2" start from a blank slate with nothing and give us all your money. I've got a fair few legacy gems and look forward to buying more skins at 50% off instead of having to buy them at full price like back in Smite. Good Title though, really hooked me in to watch the vid 😀

Theres alot of people that made up this narrative that legacy gem they never said they would convert to the new currency and said they would cover half of most things and any legacy skins will be purchased 100% with legacy gem. @@jessegamer7 Because they referenced Ow2 and CS in an interview, both of which had skins transfer. Smite 1 requires an engine update to continue running, as it is singing its last verse currently, but its not happening in favor of Smite 2, which IS getting new engines.
Claiming they wont sunset the game means nothing if they wont fix the core issues that is going to kill the game on its own.
The issue with legacy gems is that people spent tons on the main game, even have unspent currency in some cases. Originally they claimed that if you had gems in Smite 1, this would transfer to a special currency in Smite 2, which would give you a discount on Smite 2 products, meaning you would be forced to spend MORE to even get anything for it. That is not "getting anything" for free, but literally just rephrasing the word "coupon" with more words.
This was walked back days later after tons of negative backlash and media attention, after which they claimed to clarify the "legacy gems" would unlock some items fully on their own - which is still only 10% or less of the game, from what I have heard.
Additionally, they are supposedly doing Smite 2, to try to bring in new players, more players, to the space, but the issue is, that they are alienating a ton of players who are already core fans, core paying fans, for the sake of "attempting" to bring in new players.
I have played smite since beta. I love smite and the idea of it as a 3rd person moba. It hurts me so much to see this game dying like that. I hope they wake up.

Ive been playing since season 1, hirez has done many things wrong and rhings right, but I dont agree with a single thing a couple of people keep complaining about.
People just love to complain. Gems were veeery easy to get and people still called Hirez greedy, when getting skins was very cheap (specially compared to other games). It's also ridiculous because they are just skins, and the fact that's the first thing people are complaining about in an alfa is even more ridiculous, it literally has like 5 skins because their focus is actually getting the gods in the game first.
No, you're paying for the god pack and double your gems, it just has the extra perk of closed alpha. Which is more than smite 1 god pack would give you for the same price.
Also, this was already talked about.
It's a new game. The fact they are giving you any gems is the opposute of greedy, and since day one they said that it would only be 50% except for old smite 1 skins which will be 100% purchasable with gems. They were very transparent about this since day 1. So you are actually NOT paying for old skins from smite 1. Again, new game. You cant rent a few pixels and then think you own it forever.
One last thing, I think you havent understood how the ranking matchmaking actually works. Also, you are comparing a peek during a pandemic with a payed alpha. Smite 1 has been dying way before smite 2 was announced, it was nowhere near the pandemic numbers. So no, keeping smite 1 was never viable. smite 2 is a desperate and needed attempt to save smite, last chance

The god pack in smite 1 was 30$ which is what you are paying for. I understand many people bought the founders pack for the alfa, but that's more on them. At the end of the day what you buy wasnt just that. It was the actual godpack for smite 2, which is actually how they presented the whole thing, as a godpack with extra perks. It's also just a couple of months until it's released, I honestly dont understand why it's such a big deal for some people. And many people are getting free keys.
Maybe I dont get it because I never put money into games (15 euros in total in my entire gaming life), and still have all the skins and everything I love in Smite, which is not my experience in other games where getting skins for free is impossible. I come from that comparisom, I cant see them as greedy for asking you to pay for new skins when that's just reasonable.
It's not that you didnt get it at all, it's just that there are a few things to consider that were ignored. For starters de whole "no limit" in ranked, is just temporary. They want to see at what level they should put restrictions, lower levels may have more rank allowance than higher ranks which will probably be more restricted.
On the other hand, matchmaking has actually been improved a lot, not only are solo queues now fully impelmented, but in the next patches we are getting individual role SR which improves the whole thing massively.
Smurfs are a problem, but honestly, they will always be in any online game. They have done things to limit it, but sadly, it's like toxic people, no way to get rid of them all forever. So the issue itself you are talkinf about isn't a SRS issue but more of a "it's alfa so we are going to keep experimenting" issue.

I certainly have my gripes with Smite 2 but the least of them is Hi-Rez trying to make money. Their glorious leader is a moron and sinks all their new projects. They've had multiple projects in a row fall thru. Is that the customer's problem? Of course not but Devs don't work for free. Matching 50% of every dollar you've ever spent is just better than you'll ever realistically see from a company. It's a dumb hill to die on. I have the skins that have been ported over btw. I haven't bought them. They were ported? I owned it in Smite? I have it in Smite 2. They are not porting over every single Smite 1 skin because that does require man hours. Man hours that an accountant has to approve.
The game play feels rough and the items need tuning. If they're going to be so slow about adding to the roster than the limited roster does actually need to be balanced it being in Alpha isn't an excuse when there's only 20 characters and 18 of them are not new.

They had interviews where they bragged about doing this like Overwatch 2. Overwatch 2, despite failing as it was a literal cash grab, carried over skins at the very least - Smite 2 wont even do that, and while claiming they cant just "port over skins" they have had "behind the scenes" videos of them LITERALLY porting over environments, even praising UE5 about how easy it is to port stuff in there. Them claiming they cant do skins is outright lying at this point and a transparent cash grab.

I think there is one feature that Hi-Rez added to Smite 2 that a lot of players don’t know about. This includes the daily login which includes gems as the reward for logging in everyday. Though it is not yet active in the Alpha, I think this is actually a very generous and valuable move that Hi-Rez did that will subside lots of the complaints regarding paying for the ascension pass and some other things. Sure, it might take a while until you can buy something, but I think that this is a great addition for players who are looking to play this game without spending anything when it comes out.
So they added but its not added yet, I wonder why players don't know about it.

I just paid 30$ on ps5 .. ive played two hrs. Ik the game us not finished , but the game definitely needs work. The legacy gems sure is ok. But theres new currency... @@OneYeti I think its a marketing choice. Alpha isnt their big launch, making it F2P means ppl will see it as such and be disappointed about its state, possibly never to return. They couldve added a cheaper tier for 24/7 access tho, where you just get access but none of the other stuff for like 10-15 bucks. Overall I dont think the practice itself is greedy tho, its just a safeguard.
And they couldnt have possibly known Deadlock woukd launch alpha 3 days prior. But why is Deadlock free? I mean its still based on invites, be it easy to get, but there is a barrier. But also, its a new game so ppl are more generous and it might be in a better state (havent played it). We can literally see ppl flaming Smite2 because they hold onto what was in Smite1, not even taking the price into account.

Tbf Smite 2 is technically still paid access. Once it’s in open beta I expect a much larger influx of players since it will be free to play and the game will have a lot more content and polish by then. I think it is a bit too early to be making any absolute judgments of the game until we get further down the road of development. Also any complaints about in game currency is just dumb. The gameplay is the only thing that matters. If the game is really fun, people will play it

been playing smite 1 since beta... do people remember how that was? SMITE 2 is in ALPHA. If you don't understand the difference between Unreal Engine 3 and 5, you can't just port skins over, they would look crappier then in SMITE 1. TECHNICALLY like with the JOKI LOKI skin you can buy it for 100% legacy gems, and if you 've bought the founderpack you got double legacy gems so that means you don't have to buy that same skin twice you got it free and even some spare legacy gems. Why be mad? they could also just stop SMITE 1, close servers and you also would have lost every skin. I understand it still looks like crap but for an ALPHA it plays rather smooth imo. I don't even have my legacy gems atm just playing OG gods in OG skins.. have fun with what you have and not with what you THINK you want.

They brag about how easy it is to port stuff to unreal engine 5 in '"behind the scenes Smite 2 videos" in order to hype the game, yet they originally claimed they cant port skins because it is hard and takes time. No, they dont port skins because they want to double dip.
This issue of Hirez is greedy and they're not respecting players wallets needs to fucking die. You get something called legacy gems which can contribute to half the price of Smite 2 exclusive content, or FULL PRICE FOR OLD SMITE 1 skins they plan to bring back. You also right now, can buy skins in smite 1 that''ll have a smite 2 version that you get for both games, and you get legacy gems for not only that gems purchase and a bonus for buying the skins.
The founders pack, which is helping fund this project gives you double the legacy gems, so you have a long valid 50% discount or free discount (Based on skins individual basis)
You get free diamonds for mastering gods in the game
The AAA companies, namely your games that have a yearly release schedules literally burn hundreds of thousands of people's cash in the thousands of dollars every time they drop a new game. This system, if a little confusing at first is probably one of the most generous systems sans porting skins over in games where the skins have actual dollar value in a trading market, which smite does not have.
Do your research instead of skimming reddit and glancing at the patch notes. The wider playerbase are enjoying the game, Weak3n, Smite 2's harshest critic is in love with the game right now.

Literally anybody complaining doesn't have the capacity to read and comprehend what Hirez has told them time and time again. It's an Alpha. Nobody cares about the favor you're getting for a gods ascension pass. If you want to play with your skins there's smite 1, if you want the game to actually grow there's smite 2 with an engine that doesn't use flash player of all things. The game has come a massive way so far in such a short amount of time because of how hard they're working to get this to a place players will love. After my gems doubled for smite 2 I have around 500k legacy gems and couldn't care less about losing skins, why? If something comes back I care about I can straight up purchase it. If they port skins I DON'T care about, it's like a refund of my smite 1 gems I can spend elsewhere. This topic has gotten to bloated it's honestly depressing and saddening that people straight up cannot fucking read. I have a lifetime of half off purchases more or less and am looking to spend another 10k+ hours in smite 2.

It top 4'd New and trending and capped out at around 23~24k people for a paid closed alpha which is very impressive. This is just a negative video for the sake of being negative and hoping to gain traction and that is not a good look. Do your proper research next time please before you try to break down what people have somehow turned a lackluster closed alpha into a very real and playable game in the span of a few months actively listening to community feedback. This is what we need and want, if you are hurt that your purchases are left in the past because it's a NEW ENGINE AND SKINS CANNOT BE PORTED EASILY, that's on you. If half off purchases equal to what you spent over the course of 11 years isn't enough for you maybe stop buying skins if you can't afford them. Do better, and read.

Most players who remained are happy sure, but when it was announced it split the playerbase, as they made it clear what their plans are, to sunset Smite for this. They compared themselves to Overwatch 2, despite not offering Skin transfers like Overwatch 2 did (despite praising how easy it is to port stuff over to UE5 in BTS videos, contrary to their original statement of it being hard).
Overwatch 2 also infamously sunset Overwatch 1 to force the focus of players over to Overwatch 2. There is literally no way they will keep Smite going, because it requires Smite 2 due to Smite 1 having outdated engines. This should have been a patch as it is the only way for Smite 1 to survive, but they named it Smite 2 instead, making it clear they are sunsetting it.
When their original boat, is filled with holes, and sinking, and they buy a new boat, claiming they will keep the old one going too, without patching it - lol, sure, totally.

How people aren't mad, or being argued/attacked against as being mad, for HiRez being greedy is beyond me....because they ARE. I get it, they're a business that needs to make money but they messed up with Smite and their business practices therein. That's on them. Any other company would say, let's use a new IP and create a better game with better business practices. They didn't do that. They instead regurgitated the same game, on a new engine, and slightly changed some aspects while requiring you to purchase the game (the same game you've been playing for free for several years, me included), and only giving you a margin of your prior investment back. The latter I get somewhat, but the entire thing is AWFUL business especially for loyal customers (other than those diehards who will defend them to no end just because they love the game)
