Norm Lewis not only has the best vocal interpretation- he's the only actor who brings truth to Javert- who shows us the human side of a man who died for his truth- who was idealistic and lived and died for the law he believed in.
Completely agreed... His delivery of "Lord let me find him, that I may see him" almost sounds plaintiff...then BOOM "safe behind bars" and kind of parts from his humanity... That nuance in this song made me cry when it dawned. I did not get the same feeling with any other interpretation of the song or portrayal...
I completly agree but "idealistic" is the wrong word to describe the Javert`s character. Fanatic suits better for he hunted Valjean for the rest of his life because he broke his parole.

I feel the confliction in the character, it evokes my compassion and understanding for the charcater in a way that changes each time i watch his performance. I feel the tragedy of his story. Other interpretations of the character for me dont always bring forth the vulnerability and conflict in the character as much as Mr. Lewis is able to. Simply incredible performance!!!!!
