Also important to remember that not all babies have moms. Men do adopt babies or moms sometimes die in childbirth…it happens! And those kids grow up just fine with formula. Good on ya, Colleen!
Yes. There's so much privilege with the idea that bottle feeding is lazy. Having a lactating mother is one. On a smaller scale, some women just need to go back to work and can't let their babies go hungry while they're out. Maternity leave is so short if it even exists at companies in the US.
There are also moms who had cancer and had to get a double mastectomy! There are so many situations! Negative Generalizations are just awful all around
Exactly! My mom wanted so badly to breastfeed my siblings & I, but her body just didn't produce; neither did mine. But both my sisters started lactating while still pregnant! Each & every individual situation is exactly that, individual. ❤
Tortilla Talk Question: Have you considered moving back to Santa Barbara? It seems like it makes you all (you, Erik, Flynn, your family) super happy to be there.
I think it’s good for a vacation and not live there for them, because when you live there it kind of loses the magic. But to be able to go there every once in a while, makes the moments more special, this is also an opinion and I could be very wrong
Like I CANNOT put it into words aside from THANK YOU!!!!!!! I had breast cancer and due to the tumor removal the "milk factory" isn't up and working at all and when I had my son everyone kept on telling me how much of a crappy mom I am because I couldn't breast feed my son. Like the fact you stood up and said something publicly means more than I can put into words. Just THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!! 😭😭😭
This is another reason people should keep their mouths shut! You couldn’t due to other health problems. That’s none of their business. I’m sorry people said that to you. That’s so awful.
WHAT? You were so incredibly strong happening to have cancer, and then have a baby which is also hard, AND PEOPLE GAVE YOU SH*T ABOUT IT? Their heads are full of crap, you’re awesome, valid and showing how amazing you are, as Colleen said: Fed is best! I’m sure that baby is healthy and having a good life
My sister was brca positive and had a double mastectomy before kids so she cannot breastfeed and I agree fed is best. However you do it to have a healthy baby and a healthy you is the way to go.
I can’t believe someone would say anything like that to ANYONE, and especially you in your circumstance. Love and prayers to you and your family and I commend you for your strength! I wish mommas would stick together, we go through enough craziness!
So I’m a middle school teacher and in my third trimester with gestational diabetes, during lunch two of my students came in just to suggest your channel to me. SO SWEET! I told them I already watch you every morning and they were so excited. ❤️
I exclusively breast fed my first baby, and exclusively formula fed my second. Formula was sooooo much harder, more work, more expensive, definitely the OPPOSITE of laziness. And now that my kids are teenagers, they are both equally healthy, happy, and loved so it really didn't make any difference long term. FED 👏 IS 👏 BEST 👏!!!!!
The fact is that breast is best.. it’s science and its a fact. This doesn’t mean im shaming. I have done both as well so I agree with the rest of your comment. Bottle feeding is harder!!! It takes more work. Its so easy to just pop out the boob and not clean bottles.
Seeing Erik interact with Flynn brings a tear to my eye because my dad couldn't have been more indifferent to me. It really gives kids a complex like nothing they like, do, say or feel is important. But you guys listen to Flynn and engage with him and play along with what he's doing and I just know he's gonna be such a confident and creative guy when he grows up. Obviously you're great too Colleen but just wanted to shout-out Erik because I feel like there's a lot of crappy dads out there.
I DEFINITELY experience the toilet paper/door knob/flusher thing! Especially in cars where the gear shift is different places. Totally a thing! And also yes. To the whole feeding thing.. it is so obvious it’s exhausting that people don’t get it.
I’m curious if Flynn will start pre-school or if you’re planning to homeschool. I don’t think asking about his progress/things learned is unrealistic. So many things like, how high he can count, can he draw any letters, potty trained, new interests?
Okay this whole flushing situation has me questioning a whole different aspect that wasn’t argued. Do you flush the toilet while you’re still sitting down? I- no. I’m sorry. Stand up and then flush.
To those human beings who don't understand it..... Growing and raising a tiny human is hard enough! Quit with the judgment... it's all HARD no matter what road you take!
@@ykook7000 Passing judgment is not normal... It's a bad habit and it takes practice to actively not pass judgment on people and situations that you do not have the full picture on. Even then, if it's not your life, it's not your choice so you really have no say in it.
Thank you, Colleen, from a mama who’s milk supply never went up and who chose being well rested over getting up to pump. I tried for 6 weeks and then switched exclusively to formula. No regrets, it was right for me and my son. ❤️
My daughter was exclusively formula fed. After an emergency csection, my milk never came in. I tried all the products that are supposed to help with milk supply, I tried pumping to try and get it to come in, I even tried prescription medication that should stimulate milk production. Nothing worked. Not even a drop would come out. My daughter was also in the NICU for 2 weeks, during that time a lactation specialist helped many times with trying breastfeeding. But always ended up having to give my daughter formula. It was hard because I had always heard breast is best, family and friends with kids never had a problem breastfeeding so it was very hard for me to come to terms with not being able to feed my baby myself. Took quite a while to accept it and not beat myself up every time I fed my daughter formula.
I was born allergic to breast milk and not responding well to formula. So, I was fed potato milk while slowly being introduced to formula and breast milk. I still don't believe my mom when she tells me because that seems so wild.
I cried myself to sleep after being told to stop breastfeeding due to me needing a surgery when my youngest was 9 months. I thought it was the worst time ever and I will be a horrible mom cause my baby is still so young, but if it wasn't for the wonderful nurses in my life saying you still are amazing for breastfeeding this long. My youngest is now about to turn 16 and perfect.
Tortilla talk question: how do you go about letting those around you know you need help like Eric and Kory? I have been dealing with anxiety recently and it’s just something that comes and goes for me and I don’t know what to do since I’m still living with my parents. I want to ask for help and maybe therapy at times but I feel like telling them would be like admitting that something is wrong which is just hard. I know you may not have the best answer since everyone’s situation is different but just hearing your advice might help me not be as afraid to talk about it
You have fed your babies in so many different ways! I have one more! My son was fed my breast milk through a g-tube. He was not able to learn how to latch, suck, swallow, etc after his heart surgery so he had an NG for a while( like your twins), but then a g-tube was placed. I pumped exclusively for 15 months and fortified with formula. So, pumping, washing bottles and parts, defrosting and fortifying milk, I get it girl!!
RUclips channel Phil and Alex's baby had heart surgery & also had to feed through a tube at home for a long time afterwards. From what I remember she had to tube feed before surgery too because it was too much work for her to suck. She would sweat just sitting there and you could see her heart pounding in her chest. Alex had to put the tube in anytime it got pulled out or whatever. Sounds like you went thru it all like she did. That must've been very rough. Hope your son is doing great now.
The rant hits SO close to home!! I was once told that formula feeding my daughter was lazy and that I was being selfish to not breastfeed! I have MS and had been off of most of the medications that controlled my symptoms during my pregnancy. As soon as I had her, the medical team put me back on every medication. Some people told me that I was selfish & lazy to not remain off medications so I could breast feed. Formula feeding is completely the opposite of easy or lazy. We went through 7 different formulas while awaiting her medical diagnosis. It was seriously the hardest to go through. No matter how you feed your baby, fed is ALWAYS best.
That is shit! I'm angry for you! Not selfish AT ALL! Actually its quite amazing, to put your body first. Because if you neglect your body, you can't help your baby at all. People are crap sometimes!
Idk how people say that it’s lazy though? Washing bottles and preparing them seems difficult also like Colleen had to do with twins constantly washing them and making the milk. I was a breast fed baby but we really shouldn’t shaming people
Thank you Rebecca! ❤️ It took me awhile to fully accept that I was making the right choice. My baby girl was in & out of the NICU & PICU for the first year of her life so I always felt ashamed that I couldn't just breastfeed her. Always thinking that if I had then she wouldn't have struggled as hard. I know now that I did what was best for her but there was always someone who had something to say. 🥺
i mean i agree with him lol if i use a toilet outside of my house where the toilet paper is on the opposite side i wouldn’t automatically turn to the side it’s usually on at home to grab it? i would literally use my eyes to look and see what side it’s on to get it? just look to see what side it’s on lol? team erik
My daughter (now16) was allergic to my breast milk. I was so sad. My son was breast fed. All ways are hard. Being a mom is hard, but I would never trade it for anything.
I literally can’t breastfeed after a medically required breast reduction. My mechanisms LITERALLY don’t work. Calling out to those judgemental mummas, what would you like me to do???!!!!!!
From my experience as an Aunt, seeing my sisters with their kids and helping them with bottles or other feeding logistics as needed, I completely agree with you! Whoever said that bottle feeding is lazy definitely hasn't experienced the entire gamut of baby feeding and the pro's/con's of each. Not to mention how expensive formulas can get depending on the sensitivity of your infant.
I was born 10 weeks prem and my mum couldn't breast feed and I was allergic to every sort of milk except for soyabean extract. Keep being awesome Colleen. Love your family.
I hope all the options to feed a baby are explained to the mother. Because there are pros and cons to everything and circumstances that can affect their decision too. Everyone in general needs to stop shaming people in general. Education not shame
I do the same thing with light switches. The other day I reached for a light switch approximately where it would have been in the house I lived in six years ago.
Tortilla talk question: Because Erik is more of a private person when it comes to the internet, does he ever feel annoyed or uncomfortable with your daily vloging? Much love
Also fun note re: Dr. Brown’s is based out of St. Louis near where I live. They are actually partnered with the hospital my daughter stayed at in the NICU. The nice thing was at the time preemie nipples were hard to get, and if we needed a new one, we could email the company and the sweethearts would OVERNIGHT one to our house. Greatest convenience EVER!!
Tortilla talk question:How do you and Eric get any sleep do You Sleep in shifts Or do You Feed them Together. Also I Love you Colleen Keep being an Amazing mama.PS.I just thought I'd Let you know that the younger generation is loving your vids (I'm 13 btw) and you've inspired me to be a labor and delivery nurse.
When I was in the hospital after having my daughter, the nurse asked if I was going to breast feed or was I “one of the young moms that just uses formula” with the dirtiest, disgusted look on her face. I had to stop breastfeeding at 2 months because my daughter couldn’t digest it and I was constantly getting mastitis. I felt like such a failure because of that nurse.
Omg thank you! When I had my son a hemorrhaged and almost died so after this my body was healing and I had to have transfusions and such and my body WOULD NOT produce enough milk to feed my son. I tried SO HARD to up my supply! Power pumping, supplements, hand expressing, and so on! I was getting literally 30 mins of sleep a day MAYBE. Finally at 7 weeks my pediatrician sat me down and told me it was okay to formula feed and that my baby needed me to be mentally healthy more than he needed breast milk. I saw a few Facebook posts over the year after that that brought me to TEARS because they were slamming people who formula feed and how lazy “those people” are. It is absolutely MADDENING that people really truly think this! Thank you for saying that! ♥️
I can not BELIEVE you brought up the toilet paper thing! I’ve literally talked to my therapist about this. The whole major muscle memory thing is linked to ADHD!! We tend to not be actively attentive to our surroundings, so we are more likely to do things like this!! My apartment building door is a push, and I am chronically slamming my body into pull doors lol. Much love
I have ADHD too and I also do thing from muscle memory I reach for light switches or toilet paper or pretty much everything. I reach for door handles that are not there or will forget EVERYTHING I MEAN EVERYTHING. If I don’t do the thing I’m thinking about at that very moment I will never do it😂
I couldn't breastfeed. I'd had breast reduction & had no idea how much, if any, milk would be produced. Then, my daughter was a premie so my body wasn't ready! We tried all the stuff recommended by lactation specialists, other moms etc. Nothing. Should I not have given her a freakin' bottle?! Good Lord, people can be such jerks.
Totally agree Colleen. Some women have trouble lactating so they have to bottle feed! Both are valid. As long as your baby is happy and healthy is all that matters.
Thank you so much for your rant, it really hit home. My son was also in the NICU, and breastfeeding was really hard for the both of us. I tried as hard as I could to get him to do it, and it just didn’t work for us. After 3 months of exclusively pumping, we decided to switch to formula because it was taking a major toll on my mental health. Being a parent is hard enough, and taking care of yourself should always be a priority.
Hey colleen; I wanted to add something to the ‘taking meds for mental health’ subject; the biggest help ive found in taking my meds daily is my husband. He has an alarm set for me, and he reminds me everyday. he by no way forces me to take it, but if im not feeling it we talk about it and why. Its kept me accountable, and its helped me take meds on days I probably would have skipped
Yes! I don’t have a husband but I set an alarm on my phone so I don’t forget. I remember my morning meds because my daughter takes meds as well and I don’t forget hers. Funny how that works. Anyway, I set an alarm for my evening meds and it really helps.
This is truly incredible! My boyfriend is like this for me and it’s extremely helpful because there definitely are those days where it feels like it would just be easier to skip.
I breastfed my kids and I would always say that I breastfeed them because I'm lazy lol Which is true! It is hard at the beginning with sore nipples and regulating everything. And annoying to always whip a boob out but then it became so easy. I couldn't imagine dealing with pumps and bottles and sanitizing, heating up milk, etc. Those mamas are amazing for all the hard work they put in!!
Yes I loved breastfeeding and it was so easy and sometimes you can use it to get it out of doing stuff 🤣🤣 oh you need help cleaning sorry babies hungry 🤣🤣
All Moms are amazing. I can’t help but feel these Moms fussing with formula and bottles somehow did not get enough help, info, encouragement etc to get breastfeeding established and I feel sad about that because they are missing out.
I just have to say that Colleen is absolutely glowing! In the beginning of the vlog I could not stop thinking about how radiant and beautiful this woman is. I know she doesn’t see that, but she is absolutely gorgeous. I have been watching her since I was 10 and I am so impressed with what a wonderful mother she is. She always talks about how she does not take care of her hair, yet it’s stunning! Teach me your ways!!!
I definitely feel that every form of feeding your baby come with their own struggles. My daughter REFUSED to breast feed. I tried to exclusively pump and it was so hard on me, especially when 4 months in my supply dried up. So I tried formula. It worked best for me but my struggle was that it was expensive and my daughter could only properly digest a specific brand and type 😔 but it kept her fed and that's all that mattered to me. So yes, fed IS best and mothers aren't lazy because they choose to formula feed.
Hi Colleen! So it’s me again, Susan the NICU nurse, that offered to come help you back a few weeks ago. I know you get tons of comments and it’s probably impossible to read each one, but I was hoping to hear back from you one way or another. I was truly serious about my offer to help. Are you guys doing ok now, and really don’t need anyone, or are you still thinking about getting some type of help? It seems like things are a lot better now, I truly hope so! The babies are growing amazingly to me and I know that must be making you so happy! A good way to do bottles is to prepare them all each day and just use a bottle warmer each time you fed them. It shouldn’t take more than a couple of minutes. You need a good stash but it’s so much easier to do it just once a day. Prepare the milk in a big pitcher and divide it up amongst the bottles. Just rinse them after each feeding and then once a day clean all the bottles thoroughly. Of course if you don’t have enough breast milk, either yours or from your relative, that’s enough to fill them all for 24 hrs, then you can’t. When you’re doing it from one pumping to the next I understand you can’t do it that way. I agree with you, breast feeding alone is the easiest, once you’re established! Bottles are a lot of work! Especially the Dr. Browns! You’re doing AMAZING! GO MAMA‼️ With much love. ❤️
I love how Colleen is just so honest with her life and everything that has been going on. That's why I enjoy watching her videos because she's very talented, smart, brave, and kind and she's very honest about almost everything!
Just a tip, I bought enough bottles so I only had to wash and sterilise bottles 1 or 2 times a day. And if I end up exclusively pumping for my next baby I would define but more pump parts as well
I’m allergic to milk, and I know trying to figure out how to feed me was super hard for my Mom 22 years ago. I was allergic to breastmilk, and it took a long time of trying different formulas to find one that I wasn’t allergic to. While they were going through this process, I was super tiny and sick and cried constantly. So yeah, not breastfeeding is for sure not the ‘easy way out.’
I was a breastfeeding mom WAAAAY back. I thought it was easier too. When my daughter had her first son I discovered a circumstance when it’s not. She had to use a nipple shield to get him to latch. She tried and tried. She was told her nipples were a bit inverted. She went for a few months and finally resorted to formula. Here she is over nine years later with her second son and she tried again. She used the shield for four/five months and one day he latched without it. Her tenacity paid off! Of course now he is teething and likes using her as a chew toy…lol
Every time Colleen explains a weird thing she does like the toilet paper or flusher thing I always relate and I’m convinced it’s because we both have adhd 😂
I love how Eric listens and interacts while keeping it light but “obvious” he’s just so perfect for you and you’re so perfect for him and y’all are just the best 💕✨
I got so much judgement back in the early 2000s for formula feeding and I hated feeling like I had to explain that my milk wouldn't come in. I felt like a failure already but then dealt with humiliation of talking about it to people.
Same! I did everything and I was actually diagnosed with not making milk. I would try so hard all night and day do a million different supplements even got illegal supplements from a nurse who told me it would help milk supply and it did a tiny little bit for awhile but as soon as I ran out my milk dried up. I still would put my baby’s on my boob to try but eventually of course they just weren’t interested.
In my opinion it is so rude, it is not their business.. that's a question which I would not ask...You do the best for your children, believe in that. That's the only thing that matters
@@theblackschaos I tried everything as well. The doctor put me on lactation medication and I tried all the things. Just wasn't happening. I was heart broken!
@@nicolekronung8367 it is super rude for people to ask or comment. Back then there wasn't this social awareness like there is today. It didn't even occur to me I could tell them it was rude to ask and not answer.
@Keryn M I'm sorry you're dealing with that right now. It's hard when your body won't do what you want and expect it to. Mother in laws can be especially trying. Let me just tell you. Whatever you do for your baby is right and they'll be ok. This won't be the last opinion or difficult time your mother in law gives you. Be strong and true to yourself and have confidence in what choices you make and what you say to her or anyone for that matter. She's not you and this isn't her baby. She had the time to choose how to raise her kids. Just like her mom. Now it's your turn and you have just as much right to choose (in this case maybe not a choice but you know what I mean) how to raise your kids the way you see fit. Parents struggle to remember that. They overstep the line of passing on their wisdom and guidance and tred into intrusiveness. You might have to let her know that....gently and respectfully lol she might not realize.
When my grandma had my mom and aunt they actually gave my grandma meds to dry her up bc they felt formula was better at that time bc they could tell how much milk the babies were getting. Everything changes so often. Just do what you think is best for your babes. Also I feel like I've breastfed for 20 months bc im too lazy to deal with bottles and pumping and formula. Both are hard and easy at the same time.
Thank you for being you and standing up for moms everywhere! I had to stop my chemo treatments to have both my babies (three years apart.) I had to start my chemo THE DAY they were born. I had a lady ask me if I was breastfeeding and I explained I had to immediately start chemo after both births so I have to bottle feed. She was SO mad at me and told me I should have waited for treatment and given my babies my breast milk because “It’s been proven it makes your babies smarter” 😳🤣 I went into a separate room and cried for hours over feeling like I failed. Thanks for the reminder we all love our babies and we are all doing our best!
I chose to exclusively pump. I’ve loved it. I’m giving my baby my milk while also having the freedom to have others feed him. It really came down to wanting to be able to leave him with dad or grandparents and not have to worry about him eating or not eating. I’m getting ready to finish pumping now after doing it for a year
COLLEEN I do the exact same things with the door knob and toilet paper. I tend to like...memorize areas I'm in for a long time so I look completely nuts when I go somewhere new. I'll do it when reaching for cabinets, going to sit on the couch, etc. It's gotten worse over the years too and I'm only 17 😭
Tortilla talk question: how do you deal with mom guilt? Since having a baby myself it really affects me on a day to day basis. I feel like im never doing anything right and feel like every person judges me. You often apologize or feel the need to explain yourself (like with that glass of wine for instance) but I wonder if you just do that because of youtube or if you feel guilt in real life. And how do you deal with that?:)
@tinaburman girl I feel you. If you are into podcasts please check out I mom so hard. They also have a book called I Mom so hard. Being a mom can be such an isolating experience. Don’t apologize!’ You have to take care of yourself. It is not your job to deal with others emotions or opinions. At the end of the day, Do what’s best for you and your baby.
At my midwifery clinic they even avoided ‘fed is best’ and said ‘supported is best’ instead because no method of feeding is easy and fed is best implies “just do whatever is easiest” and no women should be made to feel like there is an easy way. All methods of feeding need support and my midwives were adamant that they would offer all the support they could in how I fed my baby.
Tortilla Talk Question: When did Flynn stop using his paci? Or if you ans Erik took it, what did you do to get rid of it easiest? Love you and your not-so-little family!! 🥰❤😊
Just need to say that I've been watching you for ten years and feel like I've been through so many life milestones with you. Now I'm a NICU mom and watching your vlogs from here reminds me that my baby will be okay and come home and our new regular chaos will begin. Thanks for always sharing with us.🎀💞
As someone who had two littles exclusively on formula, I recommend skipping the bottle warming! Saves time and it’s not necessary AND keeps them comfortable with any temp! ❤️ love you Colleen!
I would do warm water, carried a thermos and bottled water with me with formula. But if its milk in the fridge i can see why she warms it. We eat our food warm so our babies should too :)
Formula mom by choice here! I breastfed for 2 weeks and despised it. Went straight to second with my son and so much happier. I used to feel ashamed and now I just don’t give a shit! Thank you for putting this out there!! I also never warmed my baby’s bottles, so much easier if they’ll take room temperature I totally recommend it if you do end up doing just formula!
Yes!! Our son never required warmed milk or formula so we literally just measure the water, scoop in the formula, add the bottle top and shake it while we run over to the crying baby. My husband also refused to use Dr. Brown's because of how many pieces there are. When our son had "colic," it was really just bad gas from cow's milk based formula with the casein. We changed the formula and the special colic tube wasn't necessary anymore. There is a small airhole in the bottle nipple to release air/pressure but it doesn't require taking like 6 pieces apart.
Formula feeder by choice as well! I agree with room temp water. So much easier. The easier thing with bottle feeding vs breastfeeding for me is my hubby or other kids can feed so I can do other things 😆
Tortilla Talk Question: Earlier in March last year you said getting your period was traumatizing , When you get your period now is it still traumatizing or is it no long traumatizing and have you gotten more sleep or no the same? hope your doing well love you and your entire family. Maddy:)
Tortilla talk question: hey Colleen! I have been watching you since you were pregnant with Flynn and have been obsessed with you ever sense! Do you have any update on finding a nanny? If you, would you have a problem with the nanny being a fan of yours? Would you prefer they not know who you are or would you rather they are? Love you!
Oh lordy, I was the mom who did it all tried breast feeding, tube feeding, formula, used someone else's breast milk, pumped what I could and mixed it with formula. For me formula saved me, I couldn't produce milk for my baby. So formula made her full and happy and that's what worked for me. My hospital was horrible and forced me into trying breast feeding and made me feel like a terrible mother for not being able to. I even told them hey if this isn't working let's try something that will. My grandma told me hey if they wouldn't of invented formula my dad and aunt would of starved. Do what works for you and your baby!
Colleen I love your rant. I know I am not a mom but as a daughter to a former lactation consultant I know 1000% she would agree with you! I know people have it in their minds that LCs will "guilt trip" them into the breast(feeding) is best way. How this shouldn't be the case... they should just be there to help guide you a mom on what works best in their life. And just life with any medical professionals LCs can be changed. (This more of a tangent for other viewer 😉) Back to the rant... 🤣 Colleen you (and Eric i dont see him get as much love on here) are awesome for all hurdles you have had to jump to keep your babies feed. You deserve some ranting time.
As a baby who was allergic to breast milk from the day I was born, I am perfectly fine. I am 22 years now….. so yeah my mom was sad that she couldn’t breastfeed and I was allergic but she was happy because I was just able to eat something without having to throwing up.
I'm with you in this one Colleen... YESSS muscle memory should be a thing!! It Definitely happens to me if someone moves the toilet paper from where it's supposed to be! Hahaha
Tortilla Talk Question: Colleen, have you heard Brandi Carlile's song "The Mother"? It's a beautiful song where Brandi writes about her experiences as a mom.
Yes, Colleen! I absolutely agree on the toilet paper debate! Always turning to the wrong side when I go to other people’s homes. Same thing with the light switch when I’m coming into the bathroom. I still swipe the wrong wall every time I go to use one specific bathroom in my new house. 😂
There is another way of feeding a baby, but it's not well known. I only know 'cause I've done it! I had a very low milk supply but was determined to breastfeed. I used a supplementary nursing system (SNS) which was either donated breast milk or formula that I put in a bottle that hung around my neck, connected to a tube that was taped to my boob. So she was getting my breastmilk at the same time as the extra milk. It saved my breastfeeding and I was so thankful. But also it was hard as hell. I had to pump after every feed and do all the cleaning stuff and I'm with you, Colleen. Formula feeding is not the easy way out!! The cleaning suuuuucks.
Colleen I agree with you on the toilet paper!! ONE stall at work has it on the right while every other stall has it on the left and it always throws me off when I have to go in that one!
A cashier at the store told my husband “does your wife know that breast milk is much better for a baby? Especially better than THIS formula- it’s so expensive!” This was after absolute thrashing my body and mental health for 6 weeks desperately trying to make breastfeeding work, then FINALLY landing on this “expensive” formula after trying 7 different formulas for my daughter cause everything irritated her tummy. She’s lucky it was my husband she said that to and not me lol
Someone did this to us when I had my daughter. I had spent months sobbing while exclusively pumping with bloody cracked nipples because she couldn’t latch. I wanted to die. I just started crying in the car after that idiot gave us a lecture about it.

@@tobietaylorjones8893 I’m a fellow nicu mom too but with my second 😊 at that point I just had to stop trying to pump 2 weeks in. the muscle memory on the toilet is reaaaaal :D For me it kicks in when lowering the toilet lid. At home I'm used to the ones that have that mechanism that stops the lid slamming shut and lowers it slowly. Then I will go to a hotel/airbnb and let go of the lid only for it to SLAM down on the toilet :D

Colleen! I’m totally on your side! It’s like a muscle memory to automatically do whatever routine you’re used to. If it’s a “weird you” thing then it’s a weird us thing!
I’ve been saying this!!!! If I could I would exclusively breastfeed my baby but I work full time. I have a toddler and a baby and I have done a mix of pumping and breastfeeding and I despiiiiise pumping lol. All of the cleaning that comes with it sucks and it’s exhausting. This ridiculous stigma needs to end! Side note: I am a twin 🙂 And you’re doing an incredible job!
Doesn't look like they discipline Flynn. They spoil him and buy him everything he wants. He's gonna grow up to think everything is for him and he'll not know what no means.
Hi guys. I don’t have kids so I just wanted to jump in and say…absolutely nothing 🤣 except you ALL are superheroes absolutely incredible and I’m constantly in awe of the energy and knowledge and instincts you all have! MOMS (and parents) are AMAZING!!
THISSSSS there’s so many different varieties and realities of raising humans.
There are also moms who had cancer and had to get a double mastectomy! There are so many situations! Negative Generalizations are just awful all around
THIS 🙌
That might be difficult for Erik's acting career but I agree, she obviously very much loves being there & closer to family (parents)

Totally agree !
I’m sure that baby is healthy and having a good life
Bless ur heart....thats very cruel of them ur baby was fed and loved the end!!
That's very sweet 🥰
We NEED to appreciate Kory more! He’s amazing and without him, we wouldn’t have these vlogs that help so many of us! THANK YOU KORY ❤️❤️

I don't know why but it warms my heart to hear Kory calling Flynn "baby" as he has been doing that since he was born!
I really felt your comment 🥲💔
I DEFINITELY experience the toilet paper/door knob/flusher thing! Especially in cars where the gear shift is different places. Totally a thing!
And also yes. To the whole feeding thing.. it is so obvious it’s exhausting that people don’t get it.

Huh I had no idea babies could be allergic to breastmilk. That’s so interesting
Wow! Potato milk! That’s interesting

I cried myself to sleep after being told to stop breastfeeding due to me needing a surgery when my youngest was 9 months.

I know you may not have the best answer since everyone’s situation is different but just hearing your advice might help me not be as afraid to talk about it
The way Flyn just casually takes photos of you and Erik and they looked good has me dying
That was probably so hard for you! Be proud of yourself for getting through that!
The fact that Eric not only doesn’t have an internal dialogue, but also doesn’t have muscle memory is honestly deranged to me
i mean i agree with him lol if i use a toilet outside of my house where the toilet paper is on the opposite side i wouldn’t automatically turn to the side it’s usually on at home to grab it? i would literally use my eyes to look and see what side it’s on to get it? just look to see what side it’s on lol? team erik
This is 100% me too. Maybe adhd?! 😂

LITERALLY
I have the same thing as Colleen
My daughter (now16) was allergic to my breast milk. I was so sad. My son was breast fed.
All ways are hard. Being a mom is hard, but I would never trade it for anything.
Colleen, it's not just you! It's universal! Muscle memory is real lol, for doorknobs, and toilet paper placement etc.
Absotootly
The reaching for toilet paper thing: yes I feel this HAS to be universal! Muscle memory is definitely a thing😄

That’s a fun fact I didn’t know! I’m from Southern Illinois and love finding out stuff like that. Thanks!

Colleen you’re not weird!! Even if I move the soap dispenser at my own home I go to the side it used to be on. It’s muscle memory!
That's so awful I'm sorry! You aren't a failure at all
That nurse is the one that should be ashamed, not you.
I’m so sorry you received judgement. Think of all the things you’ve done for your daughter and you’ll know you’re amazing!
ew that nurse is the failure for making her patient feel that way! you are an accomplished mom :)
That nurse is absolutely horrible
My husband did the same for me for the first few months until I could remember on my own.
So did you exclusively breastfeed the whole time?
@@Sah0419 Yes I did. I was able to be a SAHM so I was home with them. But then they got so used to breastfeeding and they never took bottles :(

So yes, fed IS best and mothers aren't lazy because they choose to formula feed.
not only tht but how can it be lazy when there's a literal shortage of formula, ITS A WHOLE STRUGGLE JUST TO EVEN GET IT
Tortilla Talk Question: Does Flynn’s personality match up with the stereotypical personality traits of his zodiac sign? What about the twins?
COLLEN YOU ARE RIGHT!!!!!!! I always go through stuff like that
Agreed
And if I end up exclusively pumping for my next baby I would define but more pump parts as well
I’m just picturing the giant tub of bottles 😂
95% of Colleen’s “weird things” that she does is completely ADHD. ADHD is everything we do I swear as someone with ADHD lmao!

Am I the only one who loves when Colleen and Eric have these logic questioning conversations lol Ya'll are the best :)
Thanks for always sharing with us.🎀💞
Best wishes Kayleigh! 😊💕
Sending you and your little one so much love! ♥️
Best wishes!!!
As someone who had two littles exclusively on formula, I recommend skipping the bottle warming! Saves time and it’s not necessary AND keeps them comfortable with any temp! ❤️ love you Colleen!
This was one of the best “mom tips” I ever got!
I would do warm water, carried a thermos and bottled water with me with formula. But if its milk in the fridge i can see why she warms it. We eat our food warm so our babies should too :)
This isn’t all babies though. My daughter ate as long as it was room temp or warm not cold. But my son only takes it if it’s warmed up
Formula mom by choice here!
Random question: Could you guesstimate how many sticks of lipstick you have used as Miranda
Tortilla Talk Question: Earlier in March last year you said getting your period was traumatizing , When you get your period now is it still traumatizing or is it no long traumatizing and have you gotten more sleep or no the same? hope your doing well love you and your entire family. Maddy:)
Tortilla talk question: When do you or Erik plan on moving houses? Also do you ever want to move to another state if so, which state would that be?
(This more of a tangent for other viewer 😉)
Back to the rant...
Tortilla Talk: How’s it going finding a nanny? Has being well known on the internet made finding a nanny easier or harder? - From a nanny and fan!
Yesss. I’m a nanny too and I wonder that as well!
Especially better than THIS formula- it’s so expensive!”
This was after absolute thrashing my body and mental health for 6 weeks desperately trying to make breastfeeding work, then FINALLY landing on this “expensive” formula after trying 7 different formulas for my daughter cause everything irritated her tummy.
@@jazmincastro387 yes- I had a similar experience exclusively pumping. Shocked my obgyn when I showed her my boobs 😳😬 I vowed- never again. People just don’t get it. 🤦🏼♀️
He should have just said, oh actually this is for me, we don’t have a baby.
@@tobietaylorjones8893 I’m a fellow nicu mom too but with my second 😊 at that point I just had to stop trying to pump 2 weeks in. My supply was just so low and we were already under so much stress with our son in the NICU. It’s so hard to keep your supply up when you are literally physically distanced from your baby 😔 whether you can’t go into the nicu as much as you want to or you can’t hold your baby even if you are there. It’s so hard!!
Tortilla talk: my mom just had triplets and they just came home from the Nico, and we don’t want to seem ungrateful but it’s SO hard. The main reason is Because the father of them left us because their 3- sheesh girl u are our therapist right now. I know you don’t like to recommend things like we need it because we all have opinions but can you please recommend some products?
smiley: Your mom is absolutely amazing!!! 3 babies. And you are amazing too. If I could afford it, I would send you big money to help!!!!
@@thebusybee7080 aww thank you so much!!
Tortilla Talk Question: Do you or Eric ever want to paint the house rooms different colors? Or do you prefer the all white look?
(super random, I know)
Tortilla talk question after you did voice acting on Netflix do you want to continue voice acting orOr not and also do you want to start doing animation in a mainstream studio if so which one
YESSSSSSS MOMMMMMA👏👏👏👏👏👏 being a Momma how could have fed an army the first time; to my milk was NOT doing it the second time. I had no choice but to formula feed my youngest! The mom guilt was sooo real! A HAPPY FED BABY IS THE ONLY WAY!!! Boob, bottle, formula, tube fed! FEED THOSE BABIES👏👏👏👏 its all in how our babes are different. MOM GUILT IS THE MEANEST! No one is harder on themselves then Momma! Thank you for this 👏👏👏🙌🙌 I know sooo many young Mommas that need to see this❤❤ Soo much love xoxo
the muscle memory on the toilet is reaaaaal :D For me it kicks in when lowering the toilet lid. At home I'm used to the ones that have that mechanism that stops the lid slamming shut and lowers it slowly. Then I will go to a hotel/airbnb and let go of the lid only for it to SLAM down on the toilet :D
Never clicked so fast 😅 Love a good Colleen rant! 😂💜

I played a soccer game at your highschool and got to see your mural it was very cool!!
Taking about the toilet conversation… do you not stand up before you flush? Like I stand up and close the lid before flushing
I love Colleen's intro it's so cute and giving you clues through out the vlogs of what they are doing.love you Colleen ❤️
Tortilla talk: what are the most challenging things about raising a toddler? Potty training? Food? Discipline?
Doesn't look like they discipline Flynn. They spoil him and buy him everything he wants. He's gonna grow up to think everything is for him and he'll not know what no means.
Hi guys. I don’t have kids so I just wanted to jump in and say…absolutely nothing 🤣 except you ALL are superheroes absolutely incredible and I’m constantly in awe of the energy and knowledge and instincts you all have! MOMS (and parents) are AMAZING!!
Tortilla talk question? Do eric and Koko get along, like do they have convos, or is either on jealous of the other?
You are correct!! Left is paper right is the handle to flush and the paper is over!!!
