I love this game! Easily my favorite eastern euro space game. Alongside Parkan 2 and Precursors. I even made a Steam guide to get the game running on modern hardware. I can't post links, but it's just titled "Fixing Star Wolves on Modern Hardware".
Thank you for spreading word about this hidden gem! As a person who speaks the game's original language, I must point out that the dialogues are actually written better than they appear to be. It's just the translation that could be better. The third game in the series, Star Wolves: Civil War, is translated better. You should try it!
For me one of the best space ship rpg. I haven't found many similar games in the years I've been playing. The options for pilots to improve ships and fighters and control options from launching missiles are great. if anyone knows something that beats this game, let me know, I'm still looking
Yeah missiles are shooting money, but missile users are also insanely overpowered because of damage bonuses. Also countermeasures are not very useful against a missile pro. So corsair can absolutely demolish a wing or two mid game and then go back to the sw to recharge while ace and co pick the slack. And since selling looted missiles is cheap and not very profitable, it's simply better to hoard them and give them to corsair for him to absolutely destroy everyone. Also you can have some special fun if you learn to farm the nano torpedo from aliens (to do that you need to visually confirm the torpedo on the enemy bomber and snipe it *before* the shot, the 3d model with the torpedo is different from one without, so it's fairly simple to do actually. You then give the torpedo to your missile pro for extra oomph and then have fun watching every opponent die.
Good video. Also did you know, that you can repeat some missions? If you are going to do another video from this series, I recomend to skip SW2 and go to Civil War. Also there is mod for this game, that let's you choose your own path in the mission SOS. But it is completely in Russian.
I think Star Wolves 2 and Star Wolves Civil War are better, it a more expanded universe, with more system to explore, and the combat is really good, even that the docking can be a little janky.

Homeworld is still pretty good.
Also try Space Rangers HD. It's a 2D space privateer game, but the game design framework is similar to that of Star Wolves
