Great Diagnosis. Thank You. This is what happened to my 2006 sedici, but couldn't find a remapper here in the UK who was willing to correct it ,so I came up with this workaround.: Cut into either one of the two temperature sensor leads and extend the tails to behind the dashboard. Connect these to a non-latching push to break switch, and locate the switch in a convenient place, (i put mine just above my left knee, as the key is on the right). Holding this in whilst cold starting is the same as disconnecting the sensor. To prevent the "check engine" light coming on, solder a 20,000 ohm resistor ACROSS the switch. This causes the sensor to read minus 28 degrees celcius, increasing the fuel dosing .Its also an acceptable reading for the ECU, so the check engine light stays off. Holding the switch in whilst cold starting, my sedici now starts first time, every time. The switch and resistor were bought off ebay and cost approx £3.
Hello, you need to remove the ECU, than he had a special tool to connect laptop to Ecu and a special program to do it. Than you need to know what parameters to modify not to mess with the whole map.... I really recommend to go to the guys who are tunning cars (by soft)...
I understand that it gives more fuel so it can start better, but will it only give it more fuel when you start the car or will it give more fuel after you start the car too?
I have he same problem to on my 1.9tdi 56 plate. Take 4 to 5 turn to get it started when cold but when it's started it starts first time everytime untill the next day. Starts perfect when the weather is warm.
Mine started even worst, on 3rd -4th try. Also after start, all day was starting perfectly, or on warm weather. You cand try to unplug the temp sensor and see if there is any difference.

No, all was good. I found the issue quite hard, first I checked fuel pressure, injectors, electrical (starter, etc), fuel pump, other sensors, etc. All seem in very good values and working as they should. Than I found some Polish guys talking about this byt not much info about what they changed. After some more digging I found this root cause. Also, I brought this car on winter and I saw like 5 more before this and all started bad when cold, so I figure it out is something common. Since the software update I never had any issue with starting on any temp.
So the problem was wrong factory fuel map. It has to less fuel on low rpm (when cranking) and when temp is bellow +15 Celsius. Increasing the fuel in those conditions with ~40% fixed the issue. Changes affected only low rpm and on low temp, after engine starts it still runs on factory map
@@2WheelDerness Thank you for your reply. I have the same problem in winter. I heat it up several times, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.
