- Today, we bring you a shocking revelation from Dimapur’s Landmark Ward No. 13, where a government primary school is being developed-not by the government, but by the sheer determination of the local community. While the NECTAR project was introduced to uplift educational infrastructure, our investigation reveals a different reality. The school’s development-including the construction of the school gate, fencing, classrooms, landfilling, and even new benches and desks-has all been funded through voluntary donations and the initiative of the council chairman and school chairman. Notably absent from this contribution is the government itself. Despite the promises of the NECTAR project, which initially funded the construction of a small thatched house with a few classrooms and a shed, the current reality paints a different picture. The community has taken full responsibility for the school's development, as government support remains largely absent. So, is the NECTAR project just an illusion? Has it truly delivered on its promises? While official reports may suggest progress, the reality on the ground tells a different story. As of now, this primary school stands as a testament to the power of community effort-filling the gaps left by government inaction. This raises serious questions about the effectiveness of government-funded educational initiatives. If the community is left to do everything, where are the promised funds going? If this is the state of government schools, how can we ensure quality education for all?
