Good job I was an early investor of EWWW LTD when it came out in 2021, unlimited sites. The creator is a nice bloke as well. Thanks for the comparison. But like you say, a few sporadic images here and there, don't be lazy, do it yourself.

I make the images the size they're supposed to be and then I webp/optimize them by compression but not by size, it works out pretty well.

The only reason for me to use a plugin for image optimisation would be, if the plugin also serves the right image type based on browser specification. Avif or WebP is the best solution for page performance, but we still have oldies visiting websites and ignoring them could result in angry clients. You have to know the audience and decide individually for each project.

I'm familiar with EWWW, great to see your comparison to other options.

Good. I propose to use bulkresizephotos and an automation tool like uivision or power automate desktop. The automation tool will help resize bulk images.

Unfortunately my "Bulk Resize Photos" does not reduce a 2MB image to something close like a 31kb WEBP image file. I do get something like 770kb. No idea why... I tried even to reduce the image size to 50% but still get over 400kb WEBP out of the JPG. Hmmmm.... any idea?

Hmmmm.... email me the PNG image, or was it a JPG that was 2MB? info@websquadron.co.uk
What are the dimensions of the image? 1920 x 1080?

@@websquadron it was a jpg. And the width is around 2500px. Does it compress jpg that much worse?

I’m a bit of a newb, should I be using WEBP for the images I upload to my site instead of jpeg?

Check what happens when you convert as small JPG can be smaller than WebP - so check with bulkresizephotos.com/en

In general yes, if you care for size and speed. But sometimes if your jpg are also optimized, the difference can be minuscule also some exotic browsers might not support webp.

@@mzcorner Thanks. I do try to optimize my image files before uploading, but they don't get as small as the examples in Imran's video. I will delve into this a bit further. Thanks for the reply.

if i use Cloudflare cdn, do i need to do all of this? because I believe that CDN can convert all your images to WebP.

Best way to double check is assess the page with images and see if it passes the next ten test
