The Mansion at Hibernian is open a couple times a year, during the Christmas season the Mansion is decorated for the 18th century Christmas, and you can walk from room to room with guides in each area informing you of its purpose and significance while answering your questions.

I have to say for me it's a tie between the Vernon house and the mansion. To me, they both have character and beauty. There is an old mansion that's here in Burlington, NJ, that is abandoned and sits right on the Delaware Riverbank. I was fortunate to explore it years ago; the mansion looks like something out of Gone with the Wind. It had weeping willows that outlined the pavement going up to the house and a carriage house and garden house along its sides. I was able to sneak inside the house and it was just breathtaking but unfortunately it was rotted and vandalized. But you can tell in its heyday, it was gorgeous. It had sweeping staircases, a bank vault and a fireplace in every single room, even the bathroom. There was even a small lighthouse attached to the one side of the house. Such a beautiful home and I wanted it so bad. I wish the city would restore it back to its former glory.

I shall vote for number 4. I think it could be fixed up to look quite cozy. I like the nice-sized front yard. I like to garden.

The county has allowed all the structures to fall into disrepair over the years. Hopefully residents start putting more pressure on the commissioners to allocate funding to rehab them. The Hatfield mansion used to be open to host events similar to what they do at the nearby Springton Manor.

I have seen lots of houses and other building donated to goevernment entities for preservation. They seem to find money for everything but historic structures. Some years ago I visited Baylor University. They had a historical village. I was appalled at how well kept the rest of the school was, and how the village was rotting down!! A barn was in such bad shape it was roped off with yellow crime scene tape!

Hi Cliff, that first cottage you looked at sure seemed like someone was living there. The satellite dish antennas with lead in cable box next to electric meter. TV cable coming in the first front window. Looked like a clothes dryer vent near that lower window under meter too. Along with the decorations I think it is occupied. I didn't see a mailbox but maybe there was mail slot on the door.

I like cottage #2. It is small and quaint. I tried to imagine it with a porch on both front and back, and of course windows. It could be adorable. My second pick would be the mansion. But only if I was back in the day, and the lady of the house with enough staff that I wouldn’t have to spend all day cleaning. I would be outside in the gardens or riding.

I like the stone work of the Edward Vernon house, the wide door ways of cottage 2. The Hatfield house is sizable and interesting, with it being a convalescent home I wonder if there are any ghosts lingering. The mansion has interesting architecture. The rounded sides and many windows are nice.

Looks like the copper thieves swiped the bottom part of the downspouts on the Vernon house. It’s a shame people have to resort to that. My favorite is the Vernon house.

If I had money, I'd go with the mansion. Since I don't, I'll take the second house. I was wondering if they rent the cottages out or maybe park officers live in them. The Hatfield house, is it the famous Hatfield family of Hatfields and Mccoy fame? Loved this video. Id love to see them in person. ❤❤❤❤

Devil Anse's line is from Virginia. Traced it back to George Hatfield Jr (1715-1795). Now George did have 2 sons. One son move to TN, and then his line ended up in OK. The other son line moved around in VA (Marion to Russell to Logan County) during the Civil War Logan County became part of WV.

All nice houses but I have to say I'd choose none of them since I already have one far, far greater waiting for me: "Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father's house are many *mansions:* if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know. Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way? Jesus saith unto him, *I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me."* (John 14:1-6 KJV) And you can have one too! Just believe the good news of Jesus Christ, that he died for your sins, was buried and resurrected on the third day! (1 Cor 15:1-4; Rom 1:16; Rom 3:20-26; Eph 2:8-9)
