I auditioned with this song for musical theatre when I was a teen. What a masterpiece.
2 years ago i played this in public with my brother. He dosnt know sheet music(cause he never played), and some lady came up to us and was going on about how we should learn "traditionally." Im glad my brother didn't let that affect him. He now has 2 years of experience i have 5 years, im glad we kept going and didn't give up because we didn't do it "traditionally" ❤
Actually, adults don't necessarily have their individual learning styles the same as kids do. Most do NOT respond as well to it. Recognizing how YOUR learning style works best and using that method is much better. However, music schools are about a century behind the times when it comes to teaching adults, still using techniques for kids that are also outdated. Now if you could find a teacher that could adapt to YOUR style, that would be far better still.

Right, I'm learning this so I can play it to a girl I know on her birthday. She recently watched Phantom of the Opera in London so hopefully she'll be surprised and enjoy it (as long as I hit the right keys on the piano XD)
FYI, this song sounds epic on my keyboard when I use the "Rock Organ" soundfont.
