I love Pittsburgh! It's such a beautiful city. Being from Northern California I really appreciate the history and the brick buildings and older architecture. I will never forget coming from the airport and driving through the tunnel to come out to the view of the rivers and the city....it literally took my breath away. Would love to visit again someday.
My dad showed me your video’s one day and it became a nightly routine to watch a video together. Your videos are great I love how you pay attention to everything in life !!
I spent 6 months on business in Pittsburgh, in 1975, and lived at the Gateway Towers, at that time the 3 Rivers Stadium was the place.. and Liberty Ave was full of Theaters/ or showhouses, that were for adults only.. Our temporary Office was on Liberty Ave..Boy, what a nostalgic look at Pittsburgh Downtown.. Thanks
My dad grew up in the Pittsburgh area and I shared this vlog with him. He wants me to tell you that as a kid, he saw Clemente play in person and Clemente was THE BEST player of all time. He said he was an amazing defensive player with an arm you couldn't believe, and he had no strike zone. My dad said he just wasn't in a large market. Clemente died a hero. He chose to personally help the people of Nicaragua after an earthquake, and died in a plane crash en route. My dad says he loved him.
Hey Adam, it was so nice to meet you yesterday with my husband, Steve. We never made it over to the Warhol museum so I was glad to see your walk through, as well as the clumpy Mr. Rogers. ☺️
After all of that driving Im glad to got to see your team beat Skenes. Its been fun to see your perspective while visiting these parks. Safe Travels Amigo👊
Those incline railways are called funiculars. I just think that is a pretty cool word! Also, that huge geyser is 3 Rivers Fountain. I bet it’s awesome to sit around it during a warm day.
The fountain isn’t geyser. It’s located in the state park called Point State Park. It’s where the Allegheny and Monongahela rivers, meet and form the Ohio. That area was very important in the French and Indian War.
Happy you spent time in my hometown and got to enjoy the ballpark. Stay longer next time, there are many interesting things to see in the area. Looks like you started something Adam as the Rays are playing their best baseball of the year.
This is crazy. I live in central Florida but I'm from the Pittsburgh area and I'm here visiting my parents. Wish I could have met up with you and showed you around.
Awesome video! I live in Pittsburgh, but left for a trip to Vermont on Saturday, so I had no chance to run into you. I love PNC Park, I'm glad you got to experience it!
Oh please tell me that you hit up Primanti Brothers!!!???!!! First time I was at PNC was September 9, 2001, never forget it as we were doing a baseball stadium tour ourselves. We were in DC on that fateful day as we were going to head to Baltimore to catch one of Ripken Jr.s last games. You should really make it a plan to head back to Pittsburgh as there is so much to do. Thanks as always for bringing us along and #RaysUp!
Thank you for taking us to the Andy Warhol museum. I never saw those skulls before. They're cool. 💀 I think the reason they made the statue of Mr. Rogers lumpy is to evoke the soft sweaters he used to wear. I like your ending, "The Vlog is over." 😊
Pittsburgh has the best downtown "reveal" in America. If you are coming from the airport, you can't even see a hint of the skyline and then you enter a tunnel on a hillside. You exit the long tunnel and WHAM you come out on a bridge high over the river with the entire skyline right in your face. If you are not expecting it, it's both shocking and awesome.
Roberto Clemente is one of the best baseball players of all time! He was so good at hitting, could fly around the bases, and he could throw out a runner at home on the fly from the right field wall! Amazing! I got to meet him the year before he died and it was one of the biggest thrills in my life! Enjoy Pittsburgh Adam!
Welcome to my hometown Adam! So happy you came here! I had Roberto Clemente's autograph on a baseball when I was a kid. Lost it over the years. Also had Bill Mazeroski's and Don Hoak's. Enjoy the game! Enjoy Pittsburgh.
Andy Warhol's mom, Julia Warhola, was a patient at Whiteman Manor Nursing Home in Pittsburgh PA in the late 60's early 70s and I was a nursing assistant there at the time. Andy's brother, Joseph, took care of her there. I believe Andy paid for her stay. I remember Julia trying to get me to hire Andy to wash my windows. She was pretty old at the time. Sweet little lady.
I'm glad they were okay with you filming at the Warhol Museum, because When I went a few years ago, I got reprimanded multiple times for just trying to take short clips on my phone to send to my friends.
The geyser is a large fountain at the tip of The Point, which is where the confluence of the three rivers occurs. The Allegheny and the Monongahela River come together to form the Ohio River at that spot.
My son moved to Pittsburgh this past January, a few blocks from the park. We went to PNC park last month, the views are absolutely amaaaazeballs. As a matter of fact, he was there this past Saturday. We did both inclines, walked the bridges, saw the Submarine museum. Anyway, it’s cool to see this video. Glad you shared.
I love doing the incline. I grew up in Texas. We don't have inclines.😂 My parents are from Pennsylvania. Ended up in Texas because my dad was in the Air Force
The geyser you were referring to is the fountain at Point State Park where the 3 rivers meet and behind that is the incline that you can get on to take you to Mt Washington.
I remember the plastic ICEE cups in 1970 with players from baseball on them and remember him from them and when he was on the news when his plane went down
Hi Adam, hope you had a great time in Pittsburgh, my city, I think PNC Park is a great ball park, with the beautiful City Skyline, its like being on a mini vacation in your on City. Safe travels to you, love ya
It was great to meet you yesterday! The kids couldn’t wait to watch your video today. Safe travels and congrats on the win. If you’re ever back up this way I’d love to tell you about some awesome cool old towns and roadside attractions.
If you like the view from PNC Park, I recommend you come back another time and make sure to watch a night game when they have Fireworks.. The only other fireworks I like as much are Disney's..
You are correct about the Bally gym (which has been closed for years now) being a former movie theater. It opened as the Alvin Theatre in 1891, then became the Gateway Theater in 1960. It closed in 1980 and became a health club. The last movie they showed as a theater? “Friday the 13th”. And the Byham Theater is formerly the Fulton, where “Night of the Living Dead” had its world premiere.
My hometown!!!!! I used to work at Three Rivers Stadium and have been to PNC, great ball park(Camden in Baltimore is better though). Surprised you didn't say about movies filmed there(Stigmata, Dark Knight Rises, Mothman Prophecies to name a few.. The. fountain is the Fountain at Point State Park. The railroad is the Duquesne Incline! The boat is the Gateway Clipper(also they filmed Striking Distance there!)
Despite the fact that I'm a Pirates fan, I say without bias that PNC Park is the best ballpark in baseball. You can't beat that skyline view. I used to go there for 3-4 games at a time and I would get seats in different areas each time. Only one I didn't like was left field bleachers, but that was partially due to the fact that it was a day game and I was in direct sunlight the whole time. I actually moved to seats in the shade elsewhere instead about 3-4 innings into the game.
@@MichaelRei99 Maybe the old stadium could compete, but even a lot of long-time Yankees fans don't agree with that. Fenway and Wrigley would be the cathedrals, with Dodgers Stadium being a distant third, but none of those are elite stadiums, they are iconic. The Giants park, whatever the fourth name of it is now, is up there with PNC Park. Camden Yards isn't far behind because it has the old and new feel to it. I don't like the Mets or Yankees, but they are local teams for me. I'd go Citi Field all day every day over Yankee Stadium if we are just picking based on the ballpark. The Ebbetts Field look and the new feel to it work. Yankee Stadium just doesn't have the mystique of the original. It just feels like a new stadium in the same rundown area.
I traveled to Pittsburgh (and Cleveland) from Wisconsin and was at Friday's Rays/Pirates game. I wondered if you would be at any of the games over the weekend.
I used to be a big Pirate fan. I had a dachshund dog and his name was Willie Stargell, the great 1st baseman for the Pirates 1962-1982. He played 21 seasons with the Pirates. The Pirates and the Steelers both won championships in 1979. In December 1979 Terry Bradshaw. & Willie Stargell was featured on the cover of Sports Illustrated. Just a few facts.
Thanks for another great vlog! Interesting fact about the meal and sculpture. I went to elementary school with the artist. He goes by the name of Kaws. His connection to Disney is that he worked as an animator. The characters you saw are called "Companion" and are loosely based on Mickey. He also made pieces resembling other characters.
Man this gave me so much nostalgia. I lived in Pittsburgh a few years and used to go the Harris Theater and the Warhol Museum pretty often! I’ve been living in Texas for a little over a decade now. Thank you for sharing this !
Thanks for today's vlog Adam! I was in Pittsburgh a year ago and documented Mr. Rogers as well and I learned that the sculptor who sculpted Mr. Rogers was Robert Berks who was actually the sculptor who created the bust of John F. Sadly he passed on in 2011, a few years after the Fred Rogers Memorial dedication! What an artistic genius that man was
Interesting side note on the Clemente Bridge you crossed. Before one game a few years ago, an umpire for that day’s game was crossing it to the stadium when he came across a woman who was attempting to jump in suicide attempt. He stopped her and convinced her to not jump. I wish I could remember his name but he still umps today and players still thank him for his lifesaving act that day.

Tom Savini’s school of special effects makeup is about a hour outside Pittsburgh. He also lives there. Love to get there someday. Also, when I lived in Dutchess County in New York, Andy Warhol’s nephew lived there (specifically Rhinebeck, NY) .One of the children’s books he published was Uncle Andy’s , where he and his family would visit his grandmother and uncle in New York City. It’s a wonderful book, and I’m honored to own it, plus one other he had written. His name, by the way, is James Warhola. The more you know!
it's probably been mentioned, but the local nickname for the pirates of bucs comes from buccaneers aka another word for pirates, sometimes the announcers forget to use the actual team name they get so used to using their nickname. also there's actually two incline rails, the dusquene and monongahela inclines, both are over on the same side of the river and some of the oldest surviving in the entire US. point state park, where the giant fountain you saw is, is also worth a walk around sometime, the remains of the fort that once stood at the point are marked out on the grounds there and there's a museum. Pittsburgh is a really nice town with a lot going on, i'm glad ya got a chance to visit and enjoy yourself again.
Adam staying in the Drury. Fantastic hotel. Great pool built in the old federal reserve shooting range. And a lovely roof terrace. Stopped on a road trip while travelling from the UK.
My Pads were doing better on the road than home. At one point one player had a groin injury another the elbow and onother the shoulder. Nice to see when a team sweeps another Sometimes you think they'll win and then it turns on a dime. Yours and my team have something in common. Theyre both harbor town teams. Before Petco it was Qualcom (called the murph once now Snapdragon stadium is in it's place. May the best team win~
