Well done! Not only this fixed the train moving issue, but it also had other two cool side effects: one is the realistic gap between tracks like you mentioned, and other you gained extra land to build other stuff and details.
I think you could remove the stress with some flex track and maybe you could even line it up with baseplates again. If you’re not adverse to using some third party track then you could use FxBricks or Trixbricks switches to make it even better.
My one goal I had for myself was to not use flex track! I would love to get third party track, except I don't know where to start - do you have any suggestions for particular brands I should use or avoid?
