To watch Grandmaster Aiping Cheng demonstrate the entire Traditional Yang Style Tai Chi Long Form and practice along with her, her Practice DVD is available for purchase in our online store: aipingtaichicenter.myshopify.com/products/yang-108-form-dvd
Aww man I wanted to see the whole thing. This is the closest thing I've seen to what my Sifu was teaching before he passed. Very few slight differences but the same. Good to see
A wonderfully executed form. You clearly see the expression of the Tai Chi fundamentals in each movement. As a practitioner of Chen style it's endlessly fascinating to watch other styles and see not only the differences in approach to the same principles, but those moments in the forms that look shockingly similar to what I do. Once again, a fantastic display and most would only wish to have her level of mastery.
I have been Practicing for about a year now and finally came upon your long form. Thank You. I have a question. I am 73 and in good health. It is not possible for me to work with someone to study applications. Although I do see the need to understand them. Can we learn the form and understand application without a combat partner?
Thank you for your comment. FYI: This our master Grandmaster Aiping Cheng demonstrating the Long Form :) Without a partner you will need a teacher who really understands how to convey the information so you can visualize and have the sensory input from the visualization and you'll need to have something else that can test your pressure and structure like a heavy punching bag. IMHO it won't be possible for someone to do it on their own to figure it out.
Thank You for getting back to me. I am afraid that I have on choice but to continue my search on my own since I do not have someone to work with to teach me. I will just do the best that I can. At 73 I have no other choice. I love the long form. I do not have enough years in my life to achieve even half of what you have achieved however I still enjoy watching your form. Thank You, Mike Mastrogiacomo@@AipingTaiChi
@@yauwilson6230Master Aiping was on the Zhejiang wushu team. Her main teacher was Li Tianji. He sent her to Fu Zhongwen to learn traditional Yang style. Hangzhou and Shanghai are pretty close so she studied with him extensively. This routine is not the Yang family long form but it was taught to Master Aiping directly from Fu Zhongwen and she is a recognized student of his. But over her years of training, her Yang style Tai Chi has evolved to her own based on her own understanding, as it has evolved from each generation of teacher to student. Happy to discuss further if you would like a conversation
How about attempting the full Yang long form balancing a book on your head to test your stillness and alignment while also trying to achieve "song" relaxation? ruclips.net/video/TzNAC8uNgio/видео.html
Here whole form is included in her practice DVD. It's sold on our Shopify store but is currently sold out. Hopefully we can get them back in production soon
Hi Dusty. We have this as a DVD for purchase: www.aiping-taichi.com/videos. The video includes the movement names as well as slow motion to practice along. You can fill out the order form on our website. Thanks!
I won't shy away when a fight comes to me and there's no way to avoid it and I have to fight. But I will never actively seek to start a fight. I don't see that as a productive way of living
@Whammer79 True, though this is fairly similar from how I learned it from my teacher, who was a student of the late Master Fong Ha. I've seen many interpretations that are very different.
oh my God I have never seen such robotic taiji in my life.I n her pursuit to make every angle and circle correct she is ruining taiji. What happened to spontaneous natural movement .Any martial application is slaughtered by her robotic interpretation of the form!
Please share a video of someone's spontaneous natural movement of the Yang Long Form so I can understand what you mean? I don't know how to respond because I don't understand the comment.
I don't think you understand how Tai chi works. The postures must be 100% correct to work. In fact the form is an ever continuing process of refinement of getting those postures correct and you never ever arrive. It's a martial art designed with every posture to have functions. For the functions to work the postures must be correct. Flower Tai chi, where you flail around a bit looks lovely but doesn't work, it's just a dance. So your comment is routed in a lack of understanding. 25 year veteren and Fu Family disciple. Trained in Shanghai.
@@yogasamrat Master Aiping is from Hangzhou and she is now retired outside of Austin TX. This channel is her Connecticut school that I (Shirley) took over from her in 2017
this is performed as a demonstration, not as meditation. she is not channelling prana, only showing the movement to disciples/for the video.. don’t hate if you can’t compare. she knows what she’s doing.

This is the form Master Aiping learned directly from Fu Zhongwen, who was her traditional Yang style tai chi teacher in China for many years in China.

learned directly?? I just doubt

This is great. You can totally tell she learned directly from Fu Zhongwen. She moves like the old masters; different from contemporary sport taiji.
