One of the intricacies that might get lost in translation to American viewers is the way the different dialects and accents of Hindi have been used in this series.
- Abhishek and his city friends speak in a neutral north or central Indian Hindi accent (the US equivalent would be a neutral Midwestern accent). It would be the way someone from a big city or suburbs in northern/central India (not Delhi though) would speak.
- Pradhanji, his wife, Vikas and Prahlad speak in a rural UP accent, that sounds rustic, but somewhat friendly - with lilts. The US equivalent would be someone from suburban or rural Georgia.
- Bhushan also speaks in a rural UP/Bihari accent, which is much more rugged compared to the other village folks, and often sounds harsh and unfriendly. The US equivalent would be an Arkansas mountain (Ozark) accent. (I am trying hard not to use the word that describes the color of a person’s neck :) ).
- Rinki’s accent is interesting. It has hints of a rural accent, but sounds much more sophisticated compared to the rest of the village - as if it belonged to someone who was born in a village but went to the city for school. An equivalent accent would be of a schoolteacher from central Virginia. Figuratively, she is sort of a bridge between the city-born Abhishek and the village folks.
The way the characters sound drives a lot in how the viewer is supposed to perceive them - the series does a really good job in doing this.

1 crore = 10,000,000 or 10 million.
so 1.5 crore = 15 million. But that's his friend's *Annual* salary.
So monthly it'd be 1.2 million.
Abhishek's monthly salary is 20,000.
So the friend earns 62.5 times more than Abhishek.

I know it's not her first time but since lakh and crore aren't popular in the West she might have mixed them up. At least it appears so. And please.. I am not berating her knowledge . In fact, in my other comment I've applauded her for being able to figure out stuff. As long time viewers we are entitled to share our opinions. Being respectful is the key.

I'm from telugu state , but this series is so relatable to everyone who lived in villages .
i really can not get over the fact that achara pronounced BANRAKAS so perfectly that even many indians can not do in first attempt

I think one of the most seamless thing that TVF has done is developing Rinki and Abhishek's relationship. I thought after the first season from the second season they will be in love but its two episodes gone nothing that much which is very practical and organic😅
The best part about this series is it exactly portrays the society and culture of rural India... Even the minute details...

Banrakas is aberrated form of Van-Rakshsa, Van/Ban means Forest and Rakas/Rakshsa is a monster, so Banrakas is monster of the forest, who essentially troubles the villegers who live nearby

He is brown nosing though being friend with the person and not the post, not doing his job impartially. It's something that a lot of us faces, being friendly with your colleagues and then the difficulty one faces to call out their mistakes. Abhishek did not report when the elected person is not handling the office, he goes to her house to do office work, like being their personal assistant, just to please them and get the work done instead of doing thing as per the regulations. A lot of leeway and a lot of situation showing that you say just let it be to get thing running instead of getting animosity from the one surrounding him knowing that he might need them one day.

Yeah you dont give gifts like in west. You invite them and they have to invite you. Thats it basically 😅😅😅 in weddings, ceremonies like births, religious functions, its a bit different. Cloths (basically fabric), food items and if very close, then gold /silver jwellery are common gifts.
