Love the lines of that Transition Spur, when something just looks right it usually is right. Superb fleet you have there , I sit in both camps with a Santa Cruz Hightower 29 and Ragley Marley 1.0 27.5 hardtail ( reckon your lad would enjoy a "hardcore hardtail"). Congrats on the 100k mark your channels blowing up now well deserved.
Thanks. I have 2 mountain bikes, a gravel bike and a few beach cruisers. I just realized I have a fleet! Stoked!! Thanks for the positive and fun videos Clint! Keep it up.
I thought that foliage/plant life looked familiar. I spent many years in Manatee County and have ridden just about all of the trails you mentioned. I spent the last 1.5 years in Ocala which has some decent trail networks as well, but I headed north again like 15 years ago to the Catskills. thanks for all of your info I really enjoy your channel
I stumbled on this because I was curious about the Niner RIP 9 vs Transition Scout. I ended up going with the RIP 9 29er simply because that's what I could find. Probably would have still preferred a 27.5 but I've been really happy with the CVA suspension on Niner.
That Sentinel looks awesome,I’m shopping for an Enduro one now ..I have my eyes on a Santa Cruz Nomad the only is in California so many riders with one..I haven’t really seen any Transition in my area...Going to Demo a Sentinel hopefully the fit is all good.
Nice bikes Clint , I love mountain bikes and gravel but , I miss you reviewing cycle cross bikes and giant new 2021 tcx looks great and you would be the man to. Review
Can you still recommend the Giant Trance? Looking at getting a 27.5" trail bike and that was what I was steering towards. I'm an alloy guy, can't afford carbon, otherwise I'd be going Transition (I have a Transition Bank and Transition Vagrant - both hardtail 26'ers and alloy).
Which Stages power meter did you find fit the Easton crankset on your gravel bike? I recall in your review of the bike that you were wondering if one would fit.
Hi Clint. Love the reviews and your channel! The depth you go in is awesome. I’d love to ask hear your opinion on two bikes. I’m looking to either get the niner rip 9 RDO 29, or a 2019 transition sentinel. I ride mostly around San Francisco and Lake Tahoe. My last bike was a devinci Troy 29 that just got stolen. I liked it but felt it wasn’t quite enough for Tahoe (it was the NX/GX build with a revelation). How do you think the niner compares to the transition?
The rip is going to feel a tad more agile and lean more towards trail, although it can definitely be Enduro. The Sentinel will be a tad better downhill due to the slacker geometry and longer travel, assuming you would get version 2
I always thought you were taller like 6ft+, having just bought a bike with 29er wheels I was thinking if I made the right choice or not, as I am 5’8. The bike just feels so high up but loving the speed.
Clint - another very happy RKT owner here. Wondering if you ever considered a Works Angleset headset or a similar mod to get a degree or two slacker? That’s the only “what if...” I’m curious about re: my RKT.
Clint Gibbs Got my RKT over the summer and almost held out for this very reason - can’t imagine the next iteration isn’t a bit slacker right out of the box. Surprised it hasn’t happen yet from Niner too - I believe the RKT’s competition are all slacker now. And for those like me who are not into the full face helmet gnar, a slacker RKT is a potential quiver killer. My hesitation with the mod is twofold; although people swear by the Works angleset, I’m just not sold that it would not somehow compromise the head tube long term. Also I’m unclear if that would void the warranty, which is important to me. The latter who be easy to find out though. If you get a wild hair here please post a video! There are others wondering about this too - I recently posted this same question in a Niner bikes FB group and there was a lot of interest in the topic but no one had actually tried it on an RKT. Thanks for the reply and for the channel - it’s more work than most realize to create content, especially great content!
If you like some aspects of shimano but also some of sram, try trp! I switched to them earlier this season and i don’t think i’ll switch back to one of the big s brands!
Great Video and one I've been waiting for. Nice bikes! Curious as to how rough you are willing to go on your gravel bike. Do you enjoy underbiking? I don't do anything super crazy on my gravel bike but the enjoyment of taking it on a trail when I see mostly mtb's on is a good feeling. Not to mention I am less likely to get hurt as I know the limits of the bike. It would be so neat to see you test a 27.5 in your gravel bike with as big of a tire as you can get in there and see what your thoughts are on capability.
I usually get private messages on Instagram for people who are interested in the bikes. Sometimes I'll make a short video announcing a bike for sale so I can get it in the hands of one of my subscribers.
Clint, you kill my fleet - I do own 4, a road bike (rarely ride much anymore), a Ridgid frame bike, A Santa Cruise 130/120 and a Enduro Canyon Strive 160/150 full carbon the only one full carbon the road is mostly carbon. I ride mainly the last 2 the most but lately the Enduro. It's more bike than I need for my local trails but in North GA is great. Want to get it over to NC. I'm just north of Atlanta.
How much does the RKT9 weigh? Also, just curious. It's been almost a year since you put this vid out, which would be almost 3 years into that bike. Still got the RKT9 or have you moved on from it?
What I want to know is A. how does one get industry connections, and B. what is the yearly cost of owning a fleet (initial investment excluded)? Given the fact that you most likely get them at a discount and then sell them when they are still relatively new, plus earn income from a youtube channel, I'm guessing that you're riding a fleet for relatively little cost per year.
Industry connections really come through relationships. My first connection with Niner came through a guy I knew from college you eventually worked for Niner. Transition came from visiting the headquarters and talking and about my RUclips channel.
Unfortunately it kind of died around here. No races this year. And one of the main race promoters is no longer doing races because he got a job as a firefighter, from what I understand. But gravel is alive and well!
Clint- The Garmin Varia Rearview Radar is easily the best technology purchase I’ve made in the past couple of years for my bikes- check it out sometime👍
Hey Clint, I’ve been away from watching your channel for a while. Don’t really have a reason just busy with life I guess. Anyway what happen to your love of Giant bikes? I’m enjoying this new line up as well but was curious why you don’t ride Giant anymore. Thanks for your videos.
The bike shop where I purchased the Giant bikes from closed down. I had an industry connection directly with Giant but then they stopped responding to me. So basically I have no more connection with Giant bikes. But I have an industry connection with Transition and Niner and couldn't be happier!
I would love if you could mention the weight measurement in kilogram/gram for us viewers outside the US. Now we have to pause or google it later. 😉 Keep up the good work!
Not cyclocross racing this year. Going back to cross-country mountain bike racing for a while. Correct, I do have a bike on my indoor trainer but it's a loner and not one that I ever ride outdoors.
Interesting.. Like four years ago I remember that you like to have just two really high end bikes... Then like two years ago you when from two to three...that was your sweet spot... Now are 4... I'm pretty sure next year we will see half of dozen.. Hahahahja
Why do they call it a gravel bike.. looks like a road bike with beefier tires. Why would you ride this “gravel bike” on the gravel? Why not ride a mountain bike on the gravel?
It's a whole segment of riding. Do some research and I think you'll find it very interesting. In short, you don't need a lot of suspension on gravel roads and you want the drop bars for the smoother sections and pavement.
Love the lines of that Transition Spur, when something just looks right it usually is right. @nigel_bd Never, wouldn't want to bore viewers with my rad fleet.

That Niner Jet looks awesome! I just got the RIP 9 RDO last month and LOVE it!!!!
Awesome bike fleet been wanting to add a gravel bike to mine for a while but finding a bike this year is a bit of a challenge.
I stumbled on this because I was curious about the Niner RIP 9 vs Transition Scout. I ended up going with the RIP 9 29er simply because that's what I could find. Probably would have still preferred a 27.5 but I've been really happy with the CVA suspension on Niner.
There was a time there would have been at least 2 giant bikes in there.
Yeh why have you moved away from Giant bikes Clint Gibbs?
waiting for this one for awhile now!!! Thanks Clint!
Awesome tour. Thanks for sharing Clint.
That Sentinel looks awesome,I’m shopping for an Enduro one now ..I have my eyes on a Santa Cruz Nomad the only is in California so many riders with one..I haven’t really seen any Transition in my area...Going to Demo a Sentinel hopefully the fit is all good.
Take a trip up to Rothrock State Forest PA , you can bring each of those bikes and legitimately use everyone of them from one trailhead.
Nice bikes Clint , I love mountain bikes and gravel but , I miss you reviewing cycle cross bikes and giant new 2021 tcx looks great and you would be the man to. Review
I would like that too but Giants stopped communicating with me. I should have all of my subscribers email Giant about it!
I want that spur I will buy when your ready to get rid of it.
I could have swore you were taller. The video makes you look taller.
Great videos
Bruce Humphries Same here. I listened to that twice to make sure I heard that correctly.

Clint: Super stuff as always. Looked like your Jet 9 RDO had some major hack/bodge chain stay protection. ???? Ride safe and strong!!!! :-)
Clint repurposes old tubes as chain stay protectors. I’ve done the same and it works well.

Clint - another very happy RKT owner here. Wondering if you ever considered a Works Angleset headset or a similar mod to get a degree or two slacker? That’s the only “what if...” I’m curious about re: my RKT.
Yes but I've never followed through it. I would be curious to see what this bike rides like with a 2° slacker head angle.
Clint Gibbs Got my RKT over the summer and almost held out for this very reason - can’t imagine the next iteration isn’t a bit slacker right out of the box. A steel hard tail would be icing on the cake! Kona Honzo perhaps?
Or a Chromag.

Beautiful fleet 👍

gravel bike = road bike with a little bit of tread on the tires
Just a great way for companies to sell bikes lol
Never got the whole gravel thing , just like ebikes

Still have the RKT! That bike is held up so well. Feels like it's new. With the new Stan's podium wheels it's about 23 lb.

You know which bike is my favorite :) Well, the Spur is esp sweet too.
Got rid of the Stumpy?
Great video, Clint. I see you gave up on CX.
Unfortunately it kind of died around here. No races this year. And one of the main race promoters is no longer doing races because he got a job as a firefighter, from what I understand. But gravel is alive and well!
My GRX front derailleur rubs at the extreme high and low of rear gears. Can this be adjusted?
Yes. Sounds like the limit screws need to be adjusted or it could be twisted a little bit on the seat tube
Are you running guide brakes on the rkt, I saw that contact point adjust dial on the lever?
Yes. Guide RSC.
Great context Clint. How varied do you go with pedals? Same across the fleet?
Oops, meant model of SPD
Pretty much. I have the trail XT pedals on the enduro bike. Other bikes are standard SPD. I use look X-Track on the gravel bike but they also use SPD.
Clint Gibbs thanks Clint. Will check out the Looks. Need some new gravel pedals.
Didn’t see the Rip 9 27.5 bike! Did we send that one back? Thanks
Yep, that one was due back to Niner. Phenomenal bike.
Nice fleet

How does XT compare to X01 in terms of shifting performance?
All carbon frame bikes? No titanium or steel for you?
I'm actually getting ready to demo and test an alloy bike. I'll reveal it in the next few weeks.
4:14 how wide are those handlebars?
800mm
Where’s that killer looking Air 9?
Hey Clint how do you find the dt Swiss m1700 wheels?
So far really good. But the DT Swiss valve stems leave a lot to be desired.
Clint Gibbs thanks Clint
What tubeless sealant you using on your bikes?
Stan's regular and Stans race formula
What happened to the cyclocross bike?
This season I'm going back to cross-country mountain bike racing. The season's coincide so I have to pick one.
I’m surprised how low you keep your brake levers. They don’t appear to be set up for hard/emergency braking.
You say your Niner is laterally stiff but have you ridden a Pivot?
Yes. I had a pivot Mach 5 for a while and a Mach 429. Great bikes for sure!
The 3 bikes rule was never going to.last Clint:-)
You guys made me do it 😉
@@ClintGibbs I am waiting for your e-bike addition even though I already saw your take on e-bike :)

divide total pounds by 2 and you get kg.give or take ofc
Elvis Petrina I did that before until I look it up. 22 lbs is 9.9 kg and 1,1 kg is to much of give or take when it comes to bikes 🤓
