I get the impression that without Changmin that Yunho would be very self absorbed, strangely i think something about Changmin calms him and balances him out keeping him very centered. He doesnt appear as comfortable around others.

He has always been grounded and centred and it is not because of Changmin. He is like that because of the way he was brought up by his parents, same with Changmin. They are very different as people (Changmin is introverted) but they share the same values. He has other close friends and one of his closest who lived with him for years is the actor Son Ho Joon.
As a Cassie of many years, I have NEVER EVER thought that about Yunho. He is soooo kind and loving and this is well known. It's so interesting that you got that impression from him. He's very loving, nice and down-to-earth. Keep following him and you will see
