Every card that was given during that match, was 100% correct. Complaining against the ref = yellow card, timewasting = yellow card,... People who play football should learn that the ref in always in charge, and not the other way arround... The time wasting offense was a second yellow, and upon receiving two yellows in the same match, the player also receives a red and is disqualified out of the game. So what!?! - I think that all the issued Cards were correct. It just goes to show how competitive Womens' football has now become. Aggressive and perhaps increasingly 'violent'.... Well, consistent refereeing in this match.
I mean... the foul ones are pretty much on the money. It's often said that when a ref hands out this many cards they've lost control of the match, so some of the disciplinarian ones (for objections, time stalling etc.) might have been solved by talking to the players and issue warnings, but on the whole, the ref got them right. The players also have to take responsibility for not losing control.
There seems to be a mandate or look into approaching officiating in the Premier Lg, in reference to this particular referee. It will be interesting to see what is developing with other games & those officials. Good officiating & experienced referees will handle games much better & safer play. This officiating crew probably lost control of the game. Good officials will use voice to help control the game & rough play.
Teams don't generally start timewasting after just 35 minutes, it isn't clear Greenwood was timewasting and the referee does not appear to have given Greenwood any kind of hurry up before reaching for a card. That sending off was unjustified. Several of the dissent bookings were a direct result of this. Hemp's second yellow was harsh, especially in view of the earlier foul on Hemp by Lawrence that left Hemp injured and should clearly have resulted in a yellow card for Lawrence.

Most of those were proper yellow cards. Ref did her job properly. When you are behind a player and take down your opponent by tripping or grabbing them it is in fact a yellow especially if it is close to the box.
I thought the ref did alright. It was the quality of the players that led to all those cards. If they timed their challenges better, there would be nothing for the ref to consider. And that is without mentioning the blatant professional fouls commited... If you can't play the game and keep chopping your opponent to pieces, that isn't the fault of the official noticing such bad play.

Players can take the ball to the corner flag and shield the ball for as long as they can get away with it - used to be called unsporting behaviour - and goalkeepers can fall on the ball, kick it about before booting it upfield, yet taking 26-seconds to take a free-kick is against the rules.
