- Celtic Manor was conceived and developed by Sir Terence Matthews. He bought the the near derelict manor house and turned it into a small hotel in the late 70s. This hotel became Egon Ronays best hotel in Wales five years on the run. Sir Terence had plans all along for a golf course that would rival and surpass the local championship course St Pierre. After three years of planning and construction the Roman Road course that was designed by Robert Trent-Jones (Trent-Jones was famously chosen to redesigned 11th and 16th at Augusta National Golf Course). The main Roman East-West road crosses the course which is where the name was derived from. This road has been preserved by the design of the course.
This course along with the Ryder cup showcase 2010 and the Colin Montgomerie designed “Montgomerie” courses make for the perfect trio of challenges all offering different tests and landscapes in Wales premier 5 star destination.

I’ve played tournament golf, amateur and professional in Europe and the US over the years. This channel is dedicated to other like minded golfers that enjoy pure golf related content including anything I can do to help improve your golf. I’ve made nearly all the mistakes there are to make in my time so let’s all learn something from them. I’m always open to any questions so please leave a comment and I will address as many as I can with a full episode. BTW Fun banter is always welcome as long as it’s aimed at me and not other members of the channel.

Great video mate very useful tips, I’ll try some of these next time I play in the wind, hope your well, great video keep them coming mate
Thanks mate, 👍🙏
What a front 9! I thought that bunker shot was in the hole too. Can't wait to see what happens on the back 9.
I can also confirm you are deadly from 2 inches 😂😂
😂😂😂😂😂😂 2 inch master.
👏👏👏 had you down as a great putter but your driving is top drawer, fairway machine 👍 I'm presuming the back 9 equaled the front and -8 total, you make it look easy my friend.
Just for the record (and you’ll know this) this is one of those rounds that are all to infrequent. I’m just lucky I managed to get this one on film. Yeah the back nine is pretty saucy too. 👍👍🙏
@@cartersmithgolf fantastic Stuart, great positives for the mind going forward 👍 and yes once upon a time those great runs came along, sadly that long ago it's hard to imagine them coming again but we live in hope 🙏🤞😜
Nice example of how to get around with winds like that. I'm already pretty happy when the direction is OK. Ball flight control is not yet in my arsenal. Well done. ImI
Hey Eric, thanks yeah it was one of my better rounds but would like to say im lucky to get this round on camera as this low dont come around very often.
Swinging it well Stuart, voice over makes it an enjoyable watch !!
Thanks Jason, I’m enjoying reliving the golf and trying to get across some of the things going through my mind. Thanks for watching 🙏🙏👍
Great work Stuart, looking forward to pt2 👍
Thanks Mike, I’m thinking of an early release of round two so keep your eyes out. Thanks for watching. 👍🙏🙏
Brilliant round - well done. How do you keep your driver low in the wind? Ever use your driver off the deck?
Hi David, thanks it was great to get a good round on camera. I have a 7 degree driver so it’s not suitable for off the fairway. It it was a standard 10 degree I’d possibly use it. I usually can get my 3 wood going really low so that’s my low choice. Low drivers are a combination of things but think low and left hands through impact will be a good start. 👍
Love these videos Stu! Very professional.
