- Some people blame grief for the way Alicia Keys sounded at Whitney's funeral. However, the truth is rather simple, Alicia Keys is a terrible singer. She writes and produces great music, but others should sing in her place. Her voice is flat, hollow and sharp when it should be clear, thoarty and full. She tried her best to scare Whitney back to life with all of that screeching. Ears will bleed while listening. I don't own the license to any of the footage, it's a compilation of material found on RUclips. Enjoy, it's all in good nature (sorta).

singing in lower keys. Maybe she hasn't come to terms with the fact that her voice has changed with the years and she's still trying to sound like she did when she was 20. It's just a matter of knowing one's limits and stick to them. Many artists (Tracy Chapman for example) have a very low tone of voice and that doesn't make them less valuable. Alicia Keys sometimes overdoes, in my opinion this is the matter. I don't feel like saying she is a bad singer is an objective perspective.

With all due respect, I think it never is wise to see things as whether just black or just white, and you can pick any live performance of hers (and I myself saw her perform live twice) to acknowledge the fact that she has a good voice and can sing. It is very unfair to say that she is a bad singer. Neverthless, I think the issue with her is that she often tries too hard to hit higher notes than her vocal limits can reach (which is nothing bad, it's just nature) while she sounds very good when
You're lying to yourself and everyone else if you honestly think Alicia "Screeching" Keys sounded good or that her bad vocals were the results of a grief stricken throat. This video proves Alicia sounds horrible live and the few times she accidentally sounds good it's because the band is blasting music & she had a team of backup singers. So keep those thumbs coming, up or down, it's your choice.

I disagree that she has a terrible voice. I've heard her live a couple of times and she blew me away. True it's not the best performance, but how many of us have gotten to sing a tribute for our hero during their memorial service? That would be crazy sh*t lol Over time vocalists' voices do change and the flaws being pointed out here are somewhat wasteful opinions. It's good to have opinions, but over-dramatic with how it's expressed here lol Entertaining nonetheless :)
