This song's lyrics are so true. It is so sad to admit that in this society wherever you are, a shooting, robbery, or even just a violent act can just come out onto the streets at any time. Grandson captures all of these and actually adds MEANING to the songs instead of just random horrible lyrics like popular music today.
+Dannie Mike Shinoda, you might know him better as the rapper/guitarist/keyboardist/producer of Linkin Park. He's dropped some new music of his own. Hence the reference. AND he did a song with grandson, which is how most LP fans(including myself) got to know about him.
I replayed this song twice, first while reading the lyrics, the 2nd time drinking a beer and shaking my head violently Edit: fucking love the message of the song
I'm obsessed yet terrified. When I was really little (2 or 3) two men came into a restaurant my stepmum, dad, stepbrother and I were dining at with a gun. As soon as my Dad saw him he discreetly hid my stepbrother, stepmother, a few other kids and I in the bathroom as the men robbed the restaurant of all their money. I had no idea what happened until I was 10
I am so glad I can be part of this. Im in love with your music and you never seem to dissappoint me with it. The way that bridge builds the tension and the way it drops is just genius. Also the message is pretty important too and I love it. It isnt just 'walk it like i talk it'. Thank you for this piece of music that I would never be able to find elsewhere
I really appreciate this song, it speaks about how we have a huge mental health problem in America(and other countries) but the government doesn't care at all and they leave these people with mental health issues without any help and leave them with access to dangerous tools(guns in this case). As someone who suffers from mental health problems I thank you, grandson.
No, it's rather about a perfectly healthy person being pushed into a corner and beyond. It's about the only mentally sane response to such a situation: revolution, an uproar, taking down your oppressors.
@@LSunknownnumber1 If you think serious mental health problems don't mainly come from healthy people being pushed too far into a corner, then you don't understand shit about mental health. The song literally brings up PTSD. What do you think PTSD is, lol?

I don't necessarily agree with all of grandson's politics, but what I really respect is him actually doing something about what he believes, spreading his message with his gorgeous talent. We need more people like him who actually do what they can instead of just whining. We'd have more powerful art like this if we did.

+Dannie Mike Shinoda, you might know him better as the rapper/guitarist/keyboardist/producer of Linkin Park. He's dropped some new music of his own. Hence the reference. AND he did a song with grandson, which is how most LP fans(including myself) got to know about him.
I replayed this song twice, first while reading the lyrics, the 2nd time drinking a beer and shaking my head violently
Edit:
fucking love the message of the song
Can you read minds??
1st while embracing the lyrics
2nd while starting a revolution.
6 years after im doing the same thing
These killer rhymes though
Hey grandkids, don’t mind me just picking this song up for the Dc Protest
This didn’t age well
Holy shit you predicted the future
@Weston Kardel about as well as milk, by my reckoning.
So this fits the theme of June 2020 . . .
Hey but the song is pretty fire, dude!
heck yes, this is live!

Radio Killed Music NO H*CKS ON MY CRISTiAN COMMENTs
This is so good, where have you been all my life
He only started making music a year or two ago
I'm obsessed yet terrified. When I was really little (2 or 3) two men came into a restaurant my stepmum, dad, stepbrother and I were dining at with a gun. As soon as my Dad saw him he discreetly hid my stepbrother, stepmother, a few other kids and I in the bathroom as the men robbed the restaurant of all their money. I had no idea what happened until I was 10
That came out of noware
This song is anti-gun for a reason

@@raleighburton3532 why are you here

How this aged nicely

nothing better than a fucken BANGER with a good message, keep it up man your music inspires the soul
Ah Grandson released an EP? Finally, some good fucking food.
"Food"😂
I am so glad I can be part of this. Im in love with your music and you never seem to dissappoint me with it. The way that bridge builds the tension and the way it drops is just genius. Also the message is pretty important too and I love it. It isnt just 'walk it like i talk it'. Thank you for this piece of music that I would never be able to find elsewhere
Everyone here has great taste in music 😌
hell yeah we do
thank you
Me, who disliked the video: *Why, thank you, kind sir!*
Edit: It was a joke, I didn't dislike.
@@rednoodleoffate oh well that's ok, we all have different opinions on music:)
@@zoya5222 now that's positivity for a music about school shootings
Becomes more relevant every year...
Amazing lyrics, amazing sound. Voice of our generation!
Entered video peacefully, left wanting to start a riot and punch a politician.
Good!
YESSIR
Welcome to America where we worship hamborger and want to punch our polititions... even the ok ones.
This song's like aren't you sick of being nice
Don't you just want to go apeshitt 😈
I always want to punch a politician
We still haven't finished Overdose, yet a new song is here!
deadset dont know any artist deserving of success more than this fella. finally some fucking substance.
This song should be shown to every one in the states. It has meaning to many middle class and poverty aspects in the USA. A cold wind is blowing and this song is a good warning
Grandson will be the soundtrack of the next revolution, you cnt change my mind
Now, Tommy's a good father
Two sons and a daughter
But he wakes up and he asks himself:
"Why even bother?"
If he cannot feed his family
The wage he's paid's insanity
Every day he's dealing with a new calamity
Lost his old occupation
But it wasn't immigration
It was a machine, automation that replaced him
Politicians left him, corruption since the recession
So he grabs his Smith and Wesson, says he'll teach 'em all the lesson like:
"Get down on the ground!
It's a stick up! Nobody make a sound!
Don't even hiccup, or I'm emptying a round!
I'm done playing games, so I'm going down in flames!
Let it rain over Washington!
It's a stick up! Nobody make a sound!
Don't even hiccup, or I'm emptying a round!
I'm done playing games, so I'm going down in flames!
Let it rain over Washington!"
Now first he'd lost his pension
Sunk into depression
Congress is defecting
It's been adding to the tension
Came back from war, and he's been post-traumatic stressing
Can't afford his medicine he took for his aggression
He needs help, relying on this system that rejects him
Took away his benefits, but left him with his weapon
Bought a one way ticket
He's entering the thicket
To do the only thing that he's thinking will make a difference like:
"Get down on the ground!
It's a stick up! Nobody make a sound!
Don't even hiccup, or I'm emptying a round
I'm done playing games, so I'm going down in flames!
Let it rain over Washington!
It's a stick up! Nobody make a sound!
Don't even hiccup, or I'm emptying a round!
I'm done playing games, so I'm going down in flames!
Let it rain over Washington!"
There's a cold wind blowing
I'm just warning and preparing ya
There's a cold wind blowing
And it's coming for America
And it's coming for America
And it's coming for America
"Get down on the ground!
It's a stick up! Nobody make a sound!
Don't even hiccup, or I'm emptying a round!
I'm done playing games, so I'm going down in flames!
Let it rain over Washington!
It's a stick up! Nobody make a sound!
Don't even hiccup, or I'm emptying a round!
I'm done playing games, so I'm going down in flames!
Let it rain over Washington!"
... why does this encapsulate the moment a bit more every day...
It feels prophetic, and you can identify with it more and more.. a fire is started with 1 match. When will it be, if is seeming less likely when you see the natives getting restless...
This is deep 👍
I'm glad I found grandson, he's been making me feel more confident in myself.
Catchy right from the beginning
The US government is shaking

Dude this song is INSANE
This song is good for a trailer about a action movie
True. In fact I am here from a bank heist scene on a series
A minute in and it's amazing already. This ep sounds amazing so far, barely 2 songs in!
Imagine a music video with snippets of the 2020 riots and vietnam and him singing this.
It would be such a powerful piece of art.
Why do all his songs make me want to cry while simultaneously smiling like a child with a new puppy and also take over the world?
I was so happy when I heard this on The Gifted last night! Such a nice surprise!
I love how his songs speak the truth about what’s wrong w/ society today.💯💯

Possibly the most savage line i've personally ever heard from a song.
The picture for the album matches this song perfectly lol.
If you search "stick up grandson" it will have Mickey mouse with a gun
after 4 years, at 9.9 million views, not bad but this song deserves so much more credit. My favorite song from Grandson
My teacher actually met Grandson a while ago. Grandson was opening for my teacher's band. Apparently he's a really cool and kind person! Glad to see he's getting the recognition he deserves :)
roses are red, violets are blue.
when i listen to grandson,
my neighbours do too.
some of his musics started showing up in my recomended and i decided to listen to his other musics and holy shit i love every single one
Theses songs make me wanna get sick be how real they are I’m hooked...
This is exactly the type of music I love. I’ve never heard a song like this and I doubt I ever will. Only grandson can pull this off, and that’s what’s so great about it. In a world where music is repetitive and generic, this is a great find!
"There's a cold wind blowin... I'm just warnin ya... there's a cold wind blowin, AND IT'S COMING FOR AMERICA!" I LOVE that part!!
Cringe emo
This guy is wicked good!! Saw him with Joywave in Omaha. He was amazing. I knew he was good, but that was a fantastic show! Much respect
*whispers* Everybody on the ground, its a stick up! Nobody make a sound, dont even hiccup or I'm emptying a round! I'm done play games so I'm going down in flames let it rain over washington.
ew, i genuinely said this when i read this out in a whispered voice, it gave me chills.
"There's a cold wind blowing
And it's coming for America"

whos with me
Is. Was. And always will be. One of the greatest songs. Speaking to the masses. Such an amazing song and artist. This and 6:00. Are both perfect songs. Still to this day, and sadly most likely for many years in the future.
I don't necessarily agree with all of grandson's politics, but what I really respect is him actually doing something about what he believes, spreading his message with his gorgeous talent. We need more people like him who actually do what they can instead of just whining. We'd have more powerful art like this if we did.
honestly, he's bringing light to situations, not just spreading fear and hate
Future generations will find this and think it's a prophecy.
This is going on my 2020 riot playlist
This song crazy for the start of 2021
This man's words truly do indicate the Modern Tragedy of today.
