Neil Dixit Ursula did porn movies using Phoebe’s name, she sold Phoebe’s documents to a Swedish girl, she never told Phoebe about their biological mother, she never showed Phoebe the letter their Mom had left before killing herself, she was going to marry a guy to whom she had lied about almost everything about her and Phoebe also found the blueprints of a bank in her purse, she never liked their grandma, when she past Ursula thought she was already gone five years ago, just to name a few ..so.. Ursula’s pretty much the worst of the lot
Joey and phoebe are the kindest of all. Pheebs even made herself look bad, but she didn't let her friend get hurt.
Phoebe is nice except when it comes to Chandler and occassionally, Ross.

This could have been a beautiful beginning to a great love story between Joey and Phoebe. They make so much sense together.

Only later less and less, unfortunately, because all the attention and focus was going to Monica/Chandler and their "picture" perfect relationship so to speak .... and of course Ross' messed up social life with the divorces. So, it didn't leave any room for Joey and Phoebe to meaningfully develop. After watching this scene you gotta admit it is pretty disappointing the writers didn't fully utilize that potential ... and going for what was convenient instead, for example with Ross' 3x divorces a source of comedy.

Jesus, their acting here is just insane. The portrayal of emotions are so real. And Phoebe omg... You can totally tell the difference between when she's acting Phoebe and Ursula, just incredible. Love the cast so much.
Her coming in place of her mean sister to complete the breakup ritual so he doesn't stay in the dark and him recognizing its Phoebe, are so heartwarming. I'm both really happy and sad at the same moment..

I understand why people say that Phoebe and Joey would make an awesome couple, and while I agree, I like them as friends more. I like the fact that they can platonically love each other and care for each other so much, while not actually being together. They're one of the best duos in my opinion.

I think this was the most wholesome scene of Joey in the entire series. When he showed his loyalty to Phoebe when he didn't know she was there, I thought to myself, "What a freaking guy... If only men were like this today..."

I love phoebe and joeys relationship. If you’ve been friends with someone a long time , chances are at one point you’ve kissed. Not that it didn’t mean anything, but you’ve figured out it wasn’t right for you two. The friendship is stronger than a romantic relationship with different ideals.
People complain about them not ending up together but I'm glad they didn't just to show that people can have friends without being romantically linked. I think they just had a little crush on each other but that's it.

@Xhoven Because the chemistry of Rachel and Ross was greater, as well as the potential that they had to be an interesting couple being more significant. Monica and Chandler were eventually added later ... to create some stability more or less in the lives of the friends e.g. giving the feeling that they've been moving on and growing. So, all this left Phoebe and Joey to the wayside to ever become anything meaningful.

I really like the subtle joke at the very start. Ursula, after seeing Pheobe, completely forgets to give the plate of food to the other customer and just proceeds to eat it herself while taking to her sister. You can even see the extra in the background up in arms over the whole thing.

This was one of the most beautiful relation of the century.
Everyone hoped them to be together. But what turned out to be was more beautiful, a bond of friendship which can not be described in the words.
Everytime I watch this I get so emotional at the "is this to do with Phoebe? If it was would you stop hanging out with her? No." Part and it just shows how much their friendship meant to the both of them. It's so different to the Ross/Rachel/Emily debacle and I just... Ahh. I wish we had seen more of Joey/Phoebe... As a couple or even just platonic soulmates because those two were hands down made for each other

My heart broke for Phoebe sometimes. She seemed to have loved Joey and while he has shown attraction to her, he never really loved her that way. She watched him fall in love with her sister and later their best friend.

I think there's a strong possibility he DID love her, but he's been "playing the field" since he was 13. It's all he knows. Probably wanted to get it fully out of his system before getting serious about Phoebe. He took too long and Mike shows up.

Ugh I hate what they did to my poor Joey... He was such a great character, sure he had some more visible characteristics, but in later seasons they made him so flat "food, ladies and being stupid"... :c still hurts
Okay, I wanted this to happen but truth is what the writers decided did somehow make sense. Monica and Chandler end up together..and no matter how much back and forth they did, Ross and Rachel were going to end up together..if phoebe and Joey ended up together too then it would hae just been one big smorgasbord of 'how I met your mothers' instead of 'friends'. The show needed a couple to just stay friends and that couple just happened to be Joey and Phoebe.
It would be “too complete” but i would be happy if those two got together
This is the best moment in friends hands down. Phoebe pretends to be Ursula to break up with Joey to protect him, and Joey refuses to ditch his friend for a girl. We always think of Joey as a heartbreaker but I wish he stayed this sweet caring friend, instead of the idiot friend in the later seasons
This is incredible. Just when I've exhausted all the possible surprises this show has left for me to unearth in my Friends gap history, along comes this buried treasure that just completely lays me out. Masterful and instantly can't shake it.
