Why not make an enclosure with reflective inner surface and a lens to focus the laser. And then a polarizer to see if the frequencies are affected by different polarizers and how the sound changes, maybe split the light using a prism and use polarizers to allow only specific wavelengths to pass onto different speakers. I wish I could do that.
I had an instructor that built a similar system utilizing some parts from old VHS machines for mod/demod. Fog was an obstacle he battled with coffee and time. Awesome project. Thanks for sharing.

How did you transmit using the laser can't seem to be blinking or using some sort of transmission algorithms
