I didn't like this trailer as much as the first for witcher 3 though. Started off good, ended kind of weak. I liked the first trailer for witcher 3 where Geralt takes out those guys to save that girl. I stood up out of my chair cheering at that one. They should have shown her removing that dagger and throwing it at that old man running his mouth.
Im just so upset that I'm going to mess up my playing style. I have 13 eso characters, guild leader and have every crafting station etc. Start a new character on a part of the map share skywards team deathmatch and raids. But this. You have to prepare and rellllllyyyyy get the mechanics down. I think this is one of the few times I'd rather re read the books. However ciri is just lovely and im quite excited to see what's up with her.

She killed the monster, but the girl was betrayed by her village. It made my blood boil, because I know what that sort of story-telling sets up. This trailer is masterful.
I'm not even a Witcher fan, I have 3 installed but haven't even tried it yet. I saw the trailer for 4 and I'm immediately starting 3. The trailer caught me off guard with how good the story telling was. Gave me goosebumps. Keep training hard :)

@Kamawan0 Make sure you play it thoroughly, including the two DLCs (hearts of stone, blood and wine). Also note - inside each of the DLCs there is an optional world you can enter, watch tutorials on how you can get into those worlds (they're very easy to accidentally skip)
@Kamawan0 Side quests aren't cookie cutter bullshit either, it is, by and large, a completely handcrafted world from the top down. You can go explore basically anything and have a new experience in it. It might not always give you a reward you want at the end, and some will be shorter or better done than others, but you'll always end up feeling immersed within the game itself, instead of just coasting to clear stuff off the map.
I've never been much of a gamer, but my friend introduced me to Witcher III 5 years ago, and I've been hooked like nothing else. Played for thousands of hours, read up on all the lore, watched all xletails videos. My friend on the other hand, though he loved the game, hadn't even reached Skellige when I started my second playthrough (despite my pestering and annoyance). He passed away last year. This trailer has brought back a wave of nostalgia, I'm sure I'd have pestered him into finally finishing Witcher III by now. Thank you CDPR, you'll always be a cherished part of my memories.
Read the books. I was the same, my boyfriend introduced me to Witcher 3, I played it obsessively and then listened to all the audiobooks and loved them.
I just bought the game in the store on realise date, never heard off it before. Only watched 1 trailer before hand. I tell you, i was hooked like crazy. Best game i ever played.
My uncle bought the Witcher III for me out of the blue once, singing it's praises and how I must try it. He went on and on about the writing and the environment and the characters. Sure enough, I put 400 hrs on steam. He died unexpectedly a few months ago. Seeing this trailer made me miss him, but also made me grateful for the fun conversations we had and grateful for CDPR who made it possible. Looking forward to Witcher IV!

@RaisinBran-ir4iq Either they're following the fanon and new formulas and practices were developed alongside the formation of the school of the Lynx or they enlisted help from the other Witcher Schools. I imagine going under the trial was something Ciri was determined to undergo despite any pushback from Geralt and the other Wolves. With her Elderblood, I'm sure the improved trials from the fanon, that make it safer for women to undergo the Trial of the Grasses, isn't needed and she could withstand the original procedure.

I mean, look at ciri's design. She was gorgeous back in witcher 3, she know how to entice men and use her looks for her benefit, a conversation with her revealed why she unbutton her shirt, now she looks so masculine. There're massive changes here, noticeable quality downgrade. Witcher 3 trailers looks and feels better than this, even the dialogues seems worse now. They erase ciri's own unique strength and replace it with average witcher traits including the eyes, which mean including the mutation, something which the lore specifically said to be incompatible with girls. Something's weird going on, and I don't like it. I feel like geralt getting the gold club treatment won't be too far off with how this is going.
Theory time! Yennefer conducted the trial of the grasses on Uma in Witcher 3 to restore him into Avallac’h. She specifically explained she would substitute mutagens with magic, following administration of the three potions “to break the body into clay”. This is probably then how Ciri underwent the trial too. Yennefer would have perfected the trial and enabled Ciri to gain the Witchers strengths. Discuss! 😊
I suspect that Ciri decided to go with trial to get rid of the elder blood. It gave her nothing but pain and fear of being chased. And with her being infertile, she doesn't have to worry about being a breeding rabbit for witches
Look closely at her eyes before she drinks that potion, they look normal.(unless it’s just to dark of a scene to see) after she drinks that potion she got the Witcher eyes. I don’t think she did any mutations or is a true “Witcher” genetically. She plays the role of one because she wants to be like geralt and kill monsters to help people, as long as you got the good Ciri ending and were good to her. I think she just has some magic potion that gives Witcher abilities temporarily.

Thinking Ciri must undergo the Trials of the Grasses?? Drinking potions + using signs + cat eyes... I feel like that is a bit of a wasted opportunity. She could have been a a unique Witcher using her elder blood like teleportation and not Witcher mutation which we already have had with Geralt. I am skeptical she doesn't seem like Ciri at all. This feels more like the Netflix show and not like the Witcher 3.
I thought the explanation behind the potions is that they work on everybody, it's just that normal humans can't handle their effect, given that Ciri is elf royalty descendant, her body is powerful enough to withstand them.

The girl is wearing traditional eastern slavic clothes with a cloth pattern similar to rushnyk. They place a garland on her head as if she's about to be wed, and her first words are "I shall", like she's taking someone for her husband. The father is giving away his daughter as a bride to the gods and destiny. The villagers are sorrowful, but are treating it as an honorable event as well. Even the emotions on their faces look very authentic. You can tell they put a lot of effort into making it feel real and preserving the cultural roots of the story
My guess would be some sort of modified version of the trials. Considering how the old ones were stopped and that women couldn't survive, a new version might have been created with reduced side effects. Bit of an asspull (assuming I'm even right, I'm just making a shot in the dark from 6 minutes of a cinematic trailer) but eh, could be interesting.
CD Projekt will do the same as Netflix, turning Sapkowski's work into woke trash. It was foreshadowed when in W3 they introduced as an alternate ending the possibility that Ciri could save the world from the White Frost, even though Ithlinne's prophecy said that the son of the Elder Blood who would save the world from the White Frost would be a MAN. In the books themselves, it is narrated how everyone sought to marry Ciri off so that she could bear that MAN who would be capable of mastering his powers and fulfilling the prophecy. The canonical ending of Witcher 3 according to the logic of the books is the one where Ciri dies, but the woke trash is nothing new, they have been ruining everything for a decade and it had already contaminated the Witcher saga since 2015.

Such a strange choice to bring a new witcher school, especially when she was brought in with the wolves. I honestly prefer if she didn't get mutated since Geralt and his brothers were so adamant about her staying away from the trial of grasses.
@martingreen4493 Cirilla is way more emotional than Geralt, which is probably what they tried to convey here. If this is her personality through the whole game, that's going to be taxing, but I highly doubt it.

Because how to make the elixirs for the trial is knowledge witchers no longer posses so she's going to have to find someone who help her make them again and also someone to put her through the trial, it will be interesting to see who that person is.
And Yennefer would wonder whether she got mind controlled into sterilizing herself. Some Nilfgaard political circles would likely even help her to do it just because of that prospect.

the speech is about Ciri herself, despite it being framed as if it was about the village girl! her FATE was to become such a great sacrifice for the sake of others to live. her FATE was discussed before she was even born! everyone pushed her around, making Ciri to be that or the other, because of her blood. I didn't like this trailer as much as the first for witcher 3 though. Started off good, ended kind of weak. I liked the first trailer for witcher 3 where Geralt takes out those guys to save that girl. I stood up out of my chair cheering at that one. They should have shown her removing that dagger and throwing it at that old man running his mouth.
Im just so upset that I'm going to mess up my playing style. I have 13 eso characters, guild leader and have every crafting station etc. Start a new character on a part of the map share skywards team deathmatch and raids. But this. You have to prepare and rellllllyyyyy get the mechanics down. I think this is one of the few times I'd rather re read the books. However ciri is just lovely and im quite excited to see what's up with her.

She killed the monster, but the girl was betrayed by her village. It made my blood boil, because I know what that sort of story-telling sets up. This trailer is masterful.

I'm not even a Witcher fan, I have 3 installed but haven't even tried it yet. I saw the trailer for 4 and I'm immediately starting 3. The trailer caught me off guard with how good the story telling was. Gave me goosebumps. Keep training hard :)

@Kamawan0 Make sure you play it thoroughly, including the two DLCs (hearts of stone, blood and wine). Also note - inside each of the DLCs there is an optional world you can enter, watch tutorials on how you can get into those worlds (they're very easy to accidentally skip)
@Kamawan0 Side quests aren't cookie cutter bullshit either, it is, by and large, a completely handcrafted world from the top down. You can go explore basically anything and have a new experience in it. It might not always give you a reward you want at the end, and some will be shorter or better done than others, but you'll always end up feeling immersed within the game itself, instead of just coasting to clear stuff off the map.
I've never been much of a gamer, but my friend introduced me to Witcher III 5 years ago, and I've been hooked like nothing else. Played for thousands of hours, read up on all the lore, watched all xletails videos. My friend on the other hand, though he loved the game, hadn't even reached Skellige when I started my second playthrough (despite my pestering and annoyance). He passed away last year. This trailer has brought back a wave of nostalgia, I'm sure I'd have pestered him into finally finishing Witcher III by now. Thank you CDPR, you'll always be a cherished part of my memories.
Read the books. I was the same, my boyfriend introduced me to Witcher 3, I played it obsessively and then listened to all the audiobooks and loved them.
I just bought the game in the store on realise date, never heard off it before. Only watched 1 trailer before hand. I tell you, i was hooked like crazy. Best game i ever played.
My uncle bought the Witcher III for me out of the blue once, singing it's praises and how I must try it. He went on and on about the writing and the environment and the characters. Sure enough, I put 400 hrs on steam. He died unexpectedly a few months ago. Seeing this trailer made me miss him, but also made me grateful for the fun conversations we had and grateful for CDPR who made it possible. Looking forward to Witcher IV!

@RaisinBran-ir4iq Either they're following the fanon and new formulas and practices were developed alongside the formation of the school of the Lynx or they enlisted help from the other Witcher Schools. I imagine going under the trial was something Ciri was determined to undergo despite any pushback from Geralt and the other Wolves.
With her Elderblood, I'm sure the improved trials from the fanon, that make it safer for women to undergo the Trial of the Grasses, isn't needed and she could withstand the original procedure.

I mean, look at ciri's design. She was gorgeous back in witcher 3, she know how to entice men and use her looks for her benefit, a conversation with her revealed why she unbutton her shirt, now she looks so masculine.
There're massive changes here, noticeable quality downgrade. Witcher 3 trailers looks and feels better than this, even the dialogues seems worse now. They erase ciri's own unique strength and replace it with average witcher traits including the eyes, which mean including the mutation, something which the lore specifically said to be incompatible with girls. Something's weird going on, and I don't like it.
I feel like geralt getting the gold club treatment won't be too far off with how this is going.

Yennefer conducted the trial of the grasses on Uma in Witcher 3 to restore him into Avallac’h. She specifically explained she would substitute mutagens with magic, following administration of the three potions “to break the body into clay”.
This is probably then how Ciri underwent the trial too. Yennefer would have perfected the trial and enabled Ciri to gain the Witchers strengths.

I suspect that Ciri decided to go with trial to get rid of the elder blood. It gave her nothing but pain and fear of being chased. And with her being infertile, she doesn't have to worry about being a breeding rabbit for witches

Look closely at her eyes before she drinks that potion, they look normal.(unless it’s just to dark of a scene to see) after she drinks that potion she got the Witcher eyes. I don’t think she did any mutations or is a true “Witcher” genetically. She plays the role of one because she wants to be like geralt and kill monsters to help people, as long as you got the good Ciri ending and were good to her. I think she just has some magic potion that gives Witcher abilities temporarily.

Thinking Ciri must undergo the Trials of the Grasses?? Drinking potions + using signs + cat eyes... I feel like that is a bit of a wasted opportunity. She could have been a a unique Witcher using her elder blood like teleportation and not Witcher mutation which we already have had with Geralt. I am skeptical she doesn't seem like Ciri at all. This feels more like the Netflix show and not like the Witcher 3.

The girl is wearing traditional eastern slavic clothes with a cloth pattern similar to rushnyk. They place a garland on her head as if she's about to be wed, and her first words are "I shall", like she's taking someone for her husband. The father is giving away his daughter as a bride to the gods and destiny. The villagers are sorrowful, but are treating it as an honorable event as well. Even the emotions on their faces look very authentic. You can tell they put a lot of effort into making it feel real and preserving the cultural roots of the story

My guess would be some sort of modified version of the trials. Considering how the old ones were stopped and that women couldn't survive, a new version might have been created with reduced side effects.

CD Projekt will do the same as Netflix, turning Sapkowski's work into woke trash. It was foreshadowed when in W3 they introduced as an alternate ending the possibility that Ciri could save the world from the White Frost, even though Ithlinne's prophecy said that the son of the Elder Blood who would save the world from the White Frost would be a MAN. In the books themselves, it is narrated how everyone sought to marry Ciri off so that she could bear that MAN who would be capable of mastering his powers and fulfilling the prophecy. The canonical ending of Witcher 3 according to the logic of the books is the one where Ciri dies, but the woke trash is nothing new, they have been ruining everything for a decade and it had already contaminated the Witcher saga since 2015.

If this is her personality through the whole game, that's going to be taxing, but I highly doubt it.
Didn't have the same umph though. The calm and controlled tone on Geralt made it a statement, a fact even. Here it's just someone taking their anger out.

the speech is about Ciri herself, despite it being framed as if it was about the village girl! her FATE was to become such a great sacrifice for the sake of others to live. her FATE was discussed before she was even born! everyone pushed her around, making Ciri to be that or the other, because of her blood. I have a feeling this will be a huge theme in the game and I'm so excited
