  • OPEN ME!: Well, it had to happen eventually, I'm just impressed it took me almost 5 years. This should have been the second vlog of 2021 but as you saw if you watched my video on Wednesday, I deleted that footage by accident. So here we go, the 2021 vlogs start with Monday, January 4th instead of the 1st. There's a bit of writer chat and I have my 6 week follow up at the dentist to check my healing progress after my scaling and root planing back in November. And as always, there's some cozy mornings and evenings. I hope you enjoy! :) xx

Seeing Bronner's pop up was a surprise! I used to go to Frankenmuth every year as a kid and a couple times a year after I was celiac to do order and pick up things in the states as well as have a bit of a mini break. The store is so big yet very nostalgic and cozy as well. Even the parking lot is kinda fun to visit after dark as it's all decorated with christmas lights year round! I have spent a number of spring evenings wondering around taking pictures in the dark!
Getting back into routine is always tough after a break and this year with all the non regular things it feels like everyone's having a harder time so don't beat yourself up for that (throw in an insurrection and the distractions of that on top of everything else and it just seems like it's been a wild January, can't believe it's only been 9 days this week feels like it's been a decade!
Hope you're getting some R&R in this weekend. You sound like you've have a very full schedule atm, hope you're getting some rest time in there as well! xxx

Bronner's is amazing! I went when I was little and we lived in Michigan and then again several years ago when visiting a friend who lived in Lansing. It was incredible!
This week definitely feels like a decade. I've never been this reluctant to start a new semester, usually I'm more excited for the fresh start but my brain and body just want to stay on break. Winter break wasn't nearly long enough. I'm resting as much as I can in the evenings and weekends, but it's going to be a long 16 weeks until summer break.

I am so sorry you lost that footage but the video about your year compass you shot was awesome! And I am excited for new vlogs! I am happy the dentist appointment went well! I have been easing back into work since last week (mostly YT stuff, currently polishing my website) and I have done some stuff for university though right now I am waiting for dissertation feedback. I grinned when I saw you are reading The invisible life of Addie LaRue! It's on my TBR list too!

Addie LaRue is sooooooo good. You have to read it.

The first week I had scheduled some meetings but I eased in compared to this week which has been FULL ON x 2. Which is good for business but wow such a flurry! I’m looking forward to a calmer weekend and wishing you the same ❤️

I am back to work and it was rough to just get back into the routine. I definitely get the post holiday blues. It’s just so much wonderful build up and then it’s over. My bday is the 2nd of January and as I get older I feel like I’m more bummed on that day just because it’s all really over!! Anyway, I have two boys that are in middle school and they have just gone back to school 5 days a week, and that’s good! We are all adjusting to this new schedule that we’ve been off of for so long!!! Anyway, I love watching your vlogs! I am so sorry about your lost footage! I understand your disappointment! 💕

Post holiday blues are something I'm dealing with hard this year. I've never felt this reluctant to get back to work in January. Hope we all get adjusted to our new schedules soon! Thanks for watching! :)

What is this “back to work” you speak of? I was working normally the whole time. It was nice to have the time with so many people gone to really focus on my work, though. Now that people are back, I am once again forced to drop work every 20 minutes for other people’s emergencies.

Lol, I know, I don't know what I'd do if I have a job that wasn't on the academic schedule, I've gotten to used to it. I usually try to do more work over break so I don't get interrupted by department and student emails. It is nice when you have that quiet time to just focus.
