Thanks for the review! I'm currently using the Logitech K811, which has been the best keyboard I've ever used. However, it's now 7-ish years since I got it and occasionally I get a pop-up on my M1 Mac mini, asking me to go through the keyboard identifier process. It's even suddenly stopped working at one point as well. I'm checking out reviews of the Satechi keyboards vs the Logitech MX Master keyboard, but I think I'm leaning more towards Satechi.
@@PaulSpaccavento I'm still using the Logitech K811, 2 years since that post. Did however update from the M1 Mac mini to an M1 Max Max Studio, which has not had any connection issues like the Mac mini had. I would still likely get a Satechi keyboard instead of Logitech though. Logitech products have been somewhat iffy for me. I've gone through a few Logitech headsets that just die after a short time of having them. So imo, Logitech keyboards seem ok, headsets are bad, and the mice are good.
@@Lord_Mangoat Thanks for the response. Im on a M1 Max Laptop & not had any bluetooth issues. So many options.... Needs to ticket the Productivity Box / MAC Box & Audio Production box.
@@Ventoentertainment Keyboards vary so much in options/size, I find it to be difficult to find the "perfect" laptop. I like no num pad, having back lit keys, and Logitech was the 1st that I saw with easy switch keys, letting me swap between my Mac and iPad. Granted I don't use the easy switch keys anymore, since I don't use my iPad as much as I thought I would. Have you looked at the Logitech Craft keyboard? It has some dial on it and targeted to creativity/productivity, but is a full-sized keyboard and pricey. Unsure if that dial is of any use to what you need.
In holland this keyboard is 80,00 EUR and the Apple one is 150,00. So it's a lot cheaper. In a normal desktop setting, I would take a USB C cable and connect it. If you rely on bluetooth, well Apple lasts for a month. This one for 1,5 week. That's a big difference.
@@maartenvandenbosch9985 I returned it and bought the wired version. I have very little patience for bluetooth challenges in mice and keyboards. I don't think Satechi's implementation of bluetooth is bad. In fact I think macOS Big Sur's implementation of bluetooth is why I returned this thing.
Both have great advantages, but I personally like the apple-like tactile feel when typing that’s why I’d go for Satechi Slim X3. Thanks for watching! 🙏🏻
For a case if someone wants to use it on Windows or Linux. It works great there. I tried several bluetooth keyboards and it's really best. Especially, I like I can switch on the wire mode. If I input a lot of text, it's critical. Bluetooth doesn't fit well for much text. Alt is next to Control, but it's easy to get a custom.
Thanks for the review! No doubt the keyboard is nice, but I'm really disappointed by the battery life. 80h without backlight is a max of just 8-10 days if working 8-10h a day. Meanwhile Logitech MX Keys can last for 5 months if the backlight is off! And MK can last for 1-1,5 months.
That's what I thought! I guess that's the reason why it's a bit cheaper compared to Logitech MX Keys and I think the selling point was the additional bluetooth device connection making it up to 4 devices you can connect. Thanks for watching!
@@shazzwand5533 I'm using a Magic Mouse but it's not ideal. Rather uncomfortable. Works great though. Wanted to get a MX master 3 but the drivers are iffy on an M1. I'd get something just to get by and wait for actually M1 compatible Logitech Options drivers. Then I'd go for the MX master or Triathlon or MX Anywhere if you want something smaller.
MX Keys turns off the backlight after about 3 seconds of non-use. That makes it completely unusable, as you can't adjust this setting, and Logitech themselves have been ignoring this issue for about 2 years, although so many people complain. It was the most disappointing thing ever, to me considering the keyboard is perfect in every other way. Just as I'm writing this sentence, I paused after writing "every other way" without moving my hands from the keyboard and in three seconds the light turned off. It's a constant stress. But there is the solution of keeping it plugged in, which makes it keep the backlight on for 5 minutes after the last key press. But that pretty much makes it a 100 dollar wired keyboard. Because there's no way you can tolerate having the backlight go out in the middle of writing (as a feature, not a bug).
Thanks for this illustrative yet simple-to-digest review :)

I'm curious, does your satechi still work 3 years later? Any connectivity issues/lag? Sorry, just trying to find the right keyboard
I love it, got it today. Very good value for the money.
Getting one of these in the mail in a few days. Looking forward to taking it for a spin.
And?

Thanks for keyboards sounds comparison!
What happens when battrey dies after few years? Also is there any screen capture button on it?
Buenísimo el teclado pero no le encuentro las teclas para sacar fondo de pantalla sabe alguien como hacerlo
I see you have the Satechi Compact Backlit keyboard too. How does the X3 compare? And is there any difference besides the shape of the keys?
I find it more comfortable using X3 than the Compact Backlit as it has a bit of resistance in travel compared to a smooth typing on Slim X3. 😃
Hi. The eject key works for shutting down the Mac?
Will this model work with a modern windows laptop?
Yes it will, perfectly, thats how I use it. I also use it with cable for my desktop pc with no issues.
Alguien sabe si el teclado satechi funciona también con laptop windows?
Asi es amigo, me acaba de llegar hoy y estoy con una HP
Does the “return” button on the right side, work as “Enter” ?
It is "Enter"
I saw that you also have the Mx keys, are you switching? I have the MX keys too and I'm considering a switch here

Is there a Screen Capture Button, or can you assign a key to do that?
what is better satechi compact backlit keyboard or logitech mx keys?
I'd opt for the mx keys mainly because there's full fledged software support by Logitech and the overall build quality seems a lot more solid imo.
Is this compatible with Windows?
Yes, I use it on windows 10 and windows 11 both as a wired and wireless keyboard
Wait is it slim x2 or x3? I’ve check on the website still cant find x3 bluetooth
Can I use this keyboard in windows??
Yes. There is a version with a standard Windows layout but this one with the Mac key layout can be used on a Windows box.
@@JohnMHammer do you have any link to this version plz ?

looks like silver though,, wonder why they say its space gray
Still undecided between this and the logitech mx keys 😖
Logitech have been making keyboards since forever. Always go for Coca Cola. Don't be that dude that drinks 7up.
go to logitech mx keys, the software support is amazing!
@@TheMarouuu roger that what about the mouse ? I want a set that will fit to my space gray mac ..

Best Mac keyboard is the Logitech K750 solar keyboard
typing on x3 now
I like this one over apples
Your sound test method is awful
is it compatible with linux??
