i applaud rubix for trying something new in his battles with the story telling and concepts. in his exchanges on btm channel we got to see this side of him, but now he's actually trying to implement it more in a battle setting with more time restriction. every time he does this he'll learn more and grow and be able to pull it off better the next time. that aside, yall gotta stop doin the most every time he loses a battle lol. all 3 judges are more than competent with their knowledge of hip-hop and i've seen alex and franky dee judge for other events and they seem pretty fair as far as i can remember. joseph go i haven't seen judge before but dude is like an og. either way, it was a close battle. stop trying to put down other dancers it's not that serious edit: for those who are curious, alex and joseph go voted for kanon, franky dee voted for rubix
Facts, people nowadays act like losing a battle is life or death lol. We got to give props where it due. Rubix beat Kanon last year around this time and this is kanon’s payback. Lol. I’ve seen many biased battles and this was not one of them. Big up to kanon.
I'm so glad to have a new Rubix video!!! Every time i watch him, it reminds me just how creative the art of dancing can be! You never have to worry about him abusing a "signature" because he is literally a constantly evolving dancer!
nobody is talking about kanons response..woh jesus.. his answer was incredible and fire first round... he is one of the most experienced dancers in the game he is dancing over 15 years or longer...and yes there is no doubt that kanon won.. anybody who thinks different dont have the experience to judge ;)
Since Waydi and Kefton I really haven't seen a storyteller (in hip-hop battling) as good as Rubix! I liked both of Rubix rounds and I think Kanon's 1st round was more impressive than it looked. The only reason I can see the judges giving Rubix an L is for repeating moves which I'm not sure he did but it wouldn't surprise me. Rubix keep doing your thing, just don't get injured!
Freal tho, I'm really worried about his knees every time I watch him. I've injured mine seriously multiple times so just seeing some of his vocab makes me wince sometimes
Those concepts are fine but mean nothing if done without bounce, soul and groove which are the essence of hip hop dance. Concepts only is not different than contemporary. Hip hop dancers should got themselves together before it is too late. Look at what bboy became to be? A compilation of trick done sometimes off beat. this is pure pornography, shapes and mechanical figures executed in frenzy without soul and Emotion.
Thank you for expressing my sentiments. I have noticed new school dancers like Rubix seem to battle too seriously and are too focused on execution rather than just having fun and expressing themselves (soul).
That's the thing though. No one can give a definition of hip hop dance. Hip hop is everything you want. You may not get the emotion and soul that gets out from his set, but no one can dance like that without feeling and living every sound of the music. Yesterday hip hop, isn't like today's, and today's hip hop won't be like tomorrow's. We may like it or not, but everything changes, for the best or worst, depending on your point of view. But I'm happy to be able to enjoy and feel this kind of hip hop. Anyway, there are so much new dancers bringing something fresh, and they're still growing. I'm sure you'll get to like the evolution of hip hop dance somehow, please bear with us !
Can you please tell me what your opinion of been hip hop and a dancer means I like to dance but I don't even understand the term "musicality" 😒😒🙄🙄🤣😂🤨🤨🤔🤔
Can anybody give their opinions on why they think Kanon won? Just curious to hear perspectives, for me from a pure vocabulary standpoint I'm of the opinion that Rubix got it. But to each their own, plus judges are more than qualified.
I preferred rubix visually, but kanon had more "right" answers. Like if rubix had more vocabulary, kanon had more "specific" vocabulary. Rubix was very experimental and connected extremely well, kanon had more hip hop specific grammar and vocabulary, and all of his moves and concepts were deeply rooted in hip hop. He also fleshed out his concepts a little more than rubix, rubix really bounced around with each concept without completing the story. There was just a difference in experience here, not necessarily a difference in ability.
I feel like Rubix is moved by the sounds and when he reacts to different beats in the music it doesn't connect the story or the concept so he is still between storytelling and following the music by heart. In a way his extraordinary musicality is what made him lose the battle. It didn't flow well enough.
@@assassinbbx I think that's the issue with a lot if dancers these days. They focus way too much on musicality rather than just grooving to the music. All the crowd pleasing stuff will come naturally as you dance . It takes from the flow of the dance when your trying to catch and hit every sound. Les Twins (Criminalz Crew) are BIG on that, sometimes a detriment to the dancers growth.
@@tl03rizz19 Very true, sometimes being tight in musicality limited you to that beat and that you have to do something for that beat. I bet it sucks when you battle and can't miss a single beat because other people will say that you are not listening properly.
@@narciscezarvelcea498 Alright? I can say the same about rubix. I've seen the same moves at his btm exchange meanwhile kanon is better than he ever was.
Ehhhhhh i really can't stand these two round battles, they care cool when the skill difference between opponents is (possibly) large, but overall i think semi-finals and finals battles should be three rounds mandatory. This definitely needed an extra round. I think Rubix lost the 1st round and won the second. Kanon was stale to me in the 2nd round, but overall i guess the decision could have gone either way.
Where's the rockin'? the bounce? the groove? Obviously if there is not hiphop music, cannot exist hiphop dance. I think this is just freestyle not hiphop
This is one of the issues I have with a lot of European dancers/dance. Ever since Les Twins blew up, everyboys focus has been way too much on musicality and not necessarily grooving to the music. Trying to catch n hit every sound and use beat kills take from the flow and "bounce" of the dance. Musicality and technique is important but it will come naturally to an experienced dancer as they dance. A lot of European dancers are missing fundamentals and foundation to their dancing.
