- This vintage railroad film, produced by the Westinghouse Air Brake Company in 1954, was made at a time when the United States was about to be connected by efficient highways (Eisenhower Interstate System). The dominance of railroads in the US was going to be challenged and this film helps to illustrate the importance of railroads to public transport, industry and the economy.
That was very good. Both the US and here in UK we were subverted by motoring interests who persuaded the government that cars and roads were better than railways. Look where we are now - we need the railways back, if for nothing else to avoid pollution.
A fine film, I ended up buying the last 2 new prints held by Jam Handy, until they finally went out if business in the early 1980s.
The fanfare music at the start reminded me of the 1950# Superman TV shows
The Westinghouse air brake company has history behind it too, it’s cool. Nice video
Good ol' days.
Not to be ironic, WABCO air brake control modules are in busses now.
Proud to own shares of WABCO.
Best part, seeing Inspector Luger aka James Gregory!
