@@BelfastUnderground They weren't the "very first to use vocoders", in fact, they more often used an innovative device called a 'Talk Box' that uses a mouth tube that can be connected to multiple instruments such as a keyboard or a guitar. Search 'Roger & Zapp' for reference; they were well before their time. Also, you might enjoy joining in educating yourself like the others who frequent these videos, rather than simply type baseless, rhetorical questions in a failed attempt to create controversy. =)

I think the vocoder has been around long before French house music. It was invented around 1940 and used in music in the 50’s / 60’s
