Everybody did such a wonderful job and as a Kathak student, it's so nice and I'm grateful that they're showing us all the details. Thank you for sharing!
Kathak was never really meant to be danced in large halls and theaters. All those subtle and tiny hand gestures and eye movements are totally lost in a large auditorium. Being able to see the intricate footwork from up close is wonderful. Seeing the dance in this intimate setting where the dancer is close enough to make eye contact with the audience brings the total enjoyment for audience and dancer to a much higher level. I loved this video
Yes. And you are right but the arenas has grown and with it the stage and audience also so this is why it's like this 2day. it's the story behind the dance hence the word Kathak derived from the word Katha..

Good a homely setting. Not many of us get a chance to enjoy performances done in private setting. I notice that the Tarana composer is also present and singing as well. I wish her all the best and may she create many more !
I feel totally blessed to watch after so many years, my most favorite clip. Simply because of the perfect atmosphere, musicians along with the composer and choreograph enjoying to create and present, a knowledgeable audience, and perfectly trained dancers. Just the digitalising of the video is awful.
Shama ji's student Nutan Tai is my guru and while locating for her video saw veena aunty too in the video who happens to be my guru sri kashinath ji's sister...the world is really small....thanks sheetal ji
