Right On! While I left the tip rather thick I started thinning and convexing to where the farther back you go the thinner it gets. Now it’s a good feather sticker too. You reminded me, I do need to repair my tip again from using it to target practice...

Either way that tip with enough force can still puncture into someone’s flesh. Plus it’s easy to sharpen so that tip can be easily fixed.

With a few exceptions, the majority of TOP knives have a wide blade edge geometry, which does give the blade strength, but not that slicy.
The Silent Hero and Silent Hero 4 knives have good edges, which is why my EDC knife is the Silent Hero 4.
I had to reprofile the edge on my Tops Apache Warrior because it had a similar edge geometry as the Mocassin Ranger.

In addition to the Silent Hero and Silent Hero 4, I have a Tops Brothers of Bushcraft knife and El Chete chopper.
But my go-to bushcraft/survival knife the the Survive Knives GSO 5.1, second goes to my ESEE knives, their capabilities are hard to beat.
As for large fighters, I have a Ranndall model 1, 2 and 16/SP1.
For large fighters/bowies, my custom Bagwell Hells Belle is obviously fantastic but is a safe queen. For production bowies I really like the Cold Steel Laredo, it is fast in the hand and VERY slicy!
I can't wait to get my hands on the Pathfinder Knife Shop Bowie, if it's as good as its advertised it will become my all-around large field knife.

Yea they are really good knives, I have a 7/7, a 4.1 and a 5.1 in CPM-3V, ordered a 5.1 in magnacut back in August 2022, but all of the magnacut sheets they ordered was bad so they had to start all over again.
And that is why they have such a loyal fan base, Guy won't let any knife ship out that isn't just right.
I can't believe that forgot to mention in my last comment that I have a Busse Mr Mo-Fo which is fan-fricken-tastic!!
Search images for it, it's awesome!

Well, the moc ranger is what it is. It is not a slicey Garber, too thick and edge geometry not right, it is not a meat processor like a Bark River, like using a tree maul to get the black straps.lt is not your do everything camp knife, it does what you ask of it, just not very neat and pretty, It is a killer though, have dispatched 5 or 6 hogs, a couple of wounded deer with mine. It does this work very well, kind of what it was designed to do. Carry the moc and a gunny hunting, carry a B.O.B. and a moc for the camp site. Also been heavily using the C.U.T. 4.0 as my EDC, thick like the moc, but a wide 4" blade that is pretty slicey. Processed an entire buck, and did all the necessary wood work back at camp. However if the SHTF ever comes, that moc will be on me, and easy to get to.

Cool story. It’s a hard use TEST. Just like a car crash test. It’s not so you can go out and crash your car. It’s is so you can see how strong (or not) a knife is. NOBODY is making you do it to your knives 👍🤦🏻‍♂️

    • @American54

I know it’s a test I was just saying. I’ve have had Ranger for over 5 years and I did that and it held up great it hardly even scratched the coating on it. Tops is the only hard use knife I buy but I do like a Esee also their both made here in the USA
