We all were Elliot when E.T. first came out, whether we were 7 or 70, so when Elliot and E.T. reunited, it was like seeing an old friend. God, I wish we still made movies like this!
Sadly never again because movies are now fully about how it will sell, these were times when movies were still going outside of the box doing something different without just following the "what already sells" formula.
OMG Same and to believe it's been so many years since it came out blows my mind it only feels like yesterday I saw this in the movie theaters I really liked seeing this.
When I first saw ET my daughter was an infant, she is now a 40 year old wife and mother and I'm a grandmother. This movie had a profound effect on people. It just seemed to have everything. I read one story that an autistic child that had never spoken before began talking after seeing ET. I wish we could return to this kind of entertainment again. The world needs it desperately.
Society has lost its way in terms of imagination and epic storytelling in the last 40 years. More so in the last 20 years....and I think its correllated to the advent of the internet. Movie makers now just produce woke garbage with political identity messages and its sad really.
This truly had me in tears there seeing ET meet adult Elliot with his family, and warms my heart too see his kids get to experience meeting ET in person.
ANYONE who grew up with the original ET got chills watching this. I remember when we first got the VHS movie back in the 86 and my sisters and I watched it relentlessly.
Not just them, I'm 23, watched this movie today for the first time and still got chills and even some tears. I'm pretty sure I should've watched this at least 10 years ago for the first time though and more after that
I think this is the closest will get. ET is one of Spielberg’s favorite films he created and he’s made it very clear he doesn’t want to risk ruining it with a sequel. That being said he did sign off on this advertisement.
@@Munchausen45 I wonder what he thinks of this ad, though, personally, I think this is a great throwback and probably one of the most heartwarming ads I've ever seen.
Rekindling a great movie that came out when I was two years old. I would say that Henry Thomas was born to play the role of Elliott. I know that he is in other movies, but to me, he will always be Elliott. God bless you, Henry Thomas!
Is anyone else bawling to this commercial right because I can't even stop the tears from falling this was so heartwarming and beautiful. They did in minutes better than any sequel could have done in hours. I'm just blown away but how beautiful this was.
It may be just a tv Christmas advert for Sky to some but those of us at a certain age who were kids when the movie came out have that extra special bond with it,i for one never imagined we’d see them reunited after all this time, waiting year after year for it to happen but as the saying goes better late than never. Tears of happiness ran down my face before i knew what was happening..i cried back when i first watched it on the cinema, not when he went home but when he is laying in the bottom of the creek all white. No other movie had done that to a generation of kids before.
I was keeping my grandson for a few days, he wasn't even 2 yet, and I wondered if he would like this movie or if it would affect him. He was glued to the screen for the entire time. He was beginning to talk, and when my daughter was driving him back home, all of a sudden he said, ET phone home! Blew her away, LOL
If this is the only sequel we ever get, I'm happy with it. It's enough to know, not just that E.T. has a wife and child now, but that Elliott has a happy family life and is a better father to his own kids than his was to him. (Before this, some people who speculated about where Elliott would be now thought his life would go down the tubes in adulthood because something something childhood disillusionment something something grimdark is kewl something something edgelord. Nice to see this little mini-sequel proving that wrong.) I also love that the vibe I get off Elliott's wife isn't "MY GOD MY HUSBAND IS BFFs WITH AN ALIEN" but "So THIS is the alien Elliott told me about," because of course her husband wouldn't hide such a vital part of his past from the woman he loves. But the one and only thing that would have made this better? If the siblings and their families were ALSO visiting for the holidays. Can't you imagine Drew Barrymore as she is now, stopping dead in her tracks and whispering, "...E.T.?"
No matter how many times I see ET the extra terrestrial. It’s a tearjerker at the very end. This video is so cool. And it’s a real good way to remember ET as well
I always cry at the end of the movie, so this got to me as well! Such a touching commercial. I don’t think a second ET movie would be great like the first one, so when they got the okay to make this commercial, I was happy bc they did it well! Absolutely love it!!
This is the first time I've ever seen this beautiful ad. It just tugs at the heartstrings as only ET can. Now I want to see the original movie again.....Hey, I've only seen it like 20 odd times......!!!!! Well done SKY
This was exceptionally well done. It’s the sequel we never had and yet, this four minutes warmed my heat up as well as any two hour livid could. Exceptional stuff.
There was a full movie sequel to E.T. being planned & from what i was told it came very close to fruition. I am so glad that they left ET alone & dumped the idea of the sequel. I was 14 when it came out & watched it around 6 times at the cinemas & over the years on VHS, DVD,BLURAY well over 50 times. To me the movie partly defined my life as a child ,adolescent & Adult & it's soundtrack was the main reason as to why i became a professional Musician. The movie taught me how to love, respect others, respect people who are diffrent, trust, honesty, integrity & being loyal to ones beliefs. It is still my favourite movie & IMO the best movie ever made & musically the last 15 mins of the movie the best music i have ever heard & played. The world needs more movies like this.
Oh Sky, now you've made us cry again after 40 years. It's nice to somehow see a happy ending to that sad moment when E.T. left Elliot to go to his home planet. It's Elliot' skids turn to experience flying through the sky on their bikes. "Twas magical 40 years ago, still is now.
I picked up on a Peter Pan parallel (remember how Mary was reading Peter Pan to Gertie while E.T. healed Elliott's cut finger). In J.M. Barrie's original Peter Pan, Peter came back when Wendy was a grown woman with a family and took her daughter Jane to Neverland. Here, E.T. returns when Elliott is a grown man with a family and takes his children flying. And Elliott doesn't seem to mind, because, like Jane, it's their turn now.
40 years! I remember when our mother took me and my two brothers to see E.T. One the most iconic movies 🎥 they put out back in the 80s. 😃 Ahhh! The good ole days! 😌
I'm at the same age as Drew Barrymore and I saw this in real time at the cinema. This brought tears to my eyes on an instant, remembering my father who took me to see it.
I was born in 1982 so didn't see the movie until a few years later and when ET died it had be ugly crying. This totally hit all the feels seeing this advert. Even watching the behind the scenes on how they recreated him had me tearing up. well done to everyone who made me feel like a kid again ❤️
I also remember an ad in the late 90s that picked up where E.T. the movie ended, it showed inside the spaceship and E.T. was chatting with his E.T. friends and telling them what earthlings were like. They were around this table and images kept appearing on the table as E.T. described his experiences with earthlings.
OMG, this was my childhood, 1980's. Since its Christmas, it should have been more amazing if Michael, Gertie, and their Mom's visit to see ET... wow I cried.

This gives me chills! What a wonderful ad. They managed to put the magic into it. It was great to see "Elliot" again, along with E.T.! And the little girl who played his daughter looked so much like Drew Barrymore did in the movie that she really could have been Elliot's daughter.
The film come out in 82 I did not watch it till 83 when I was 6 years old you never forget a film still little bits of tears hehe bless one programme try watching it use to be on back in the 80s here in the UK England 🇬🇧 the wind in the willows the song will make you cry
OMG... I fudge-rucking LOVE this! As I watched, my heart felt that same sense of joy & then the heavy sense of loss that I had felt when I watched the movie for the first time...
Adult Elliott saying goodbye to ET once again and this time his wife and son got to experience ET like Elliott did when he was a boy in the first movie back in 1982. But this time it was Elliott's son that got the chance to say that same tearful goodbye to ET. And ET what he did was the same as he did with young Elliott was that scene where ET said I am right here with ET pointing to Elliott's son's heart. ET promised he'd be back and he did come back and celebrated Christmas with Adult Elliott, Elliott's wife and Elliott's son. And they all experienced their special time with ET and created some moments with him just like Elliott, his brother and sister and his parents and friends all did at the very end of E T the Extra Terrestrial.
E.T was one of my favourite movies from the 80’s when I was younger, and I must admit I cried, I was 21 jk I was 11. Now don’t judge me for crying at a movie when I was nearly a teen, I cried at 6 when King Kong fell of the Empire State Building!! This advert was brilliant bringing back Henry Thomas as Elliot and his family. It got me ok I cried as I missed my family as I was in rehab to help me walk again. It’s times like that when you miss what you should have and in my case my legs. Although I have my legs, I didn’t have the movement in them, that is until then. That advert gave me the incentive to get back on my feet and be with my family. I did!!
Hope you are doing so much better in yourself and that your legs are better now too Mike since writing your comment on here. Always stay positive and never give up. Happy New Year for 2023 and for better things to come your way :)
I'm a grown 41 year old Mum and E.T was in just the other night I sat there and cried (yet again) at the ending whilst my 6 year old nephew was just lost for words as to what was happening to me. I just didn't care as this movie is a part of mine and my sister's childhoods and will forever remain so until the end of time x
This was the sequel we needed and even though it wasn’t a movie it was that it still was amazing just like movie. I’d never thought it would hit the feelings so hard
I remember watching this with my wife and fondly remembering when our boys were little and the Christmases we shared. She died the next year so this commercial brings tear to my eyes.
Amazing!! Well done Sky ❤️ Who knew a 4 minute ad could be so emotional. I had tears in my eyes watching this. Just fantastic. ET 2 in 4 minutes with lots of nods to the original film. One of the best Christmas ads I’ve ever seen. 👏🏻
I'm so happy it was my first movie I saw at cinema at 8 years old. Just remember how I fought my cry at the end, boy don't cry. Rented it 20 years later, I cried like a baby and surprised how his magic still work on me as an adult!! And maybe right now...
This advert somehow touched my soul...as E.T was my first cinema movie experience as a kid. Brought my 1st experience right back like Marty McFly in 4 minutes!
They thought of several stories after the original came back, but none were as good as the original, so in the end Spielberg decided to preserve the legacy of the original instead of going to the easy cash grab. Best movie never made.
Spielberg has said that a sequel would ruin the magic of the original and that it has an ending that doesn't leave room for a second film, which it doesn't. This commercial is as good of a sequel that will ever come of it and I can't complain.
I love E.T. I have seen this movie for more than 50 times... I hope they make E.T Earth Adventure. thanks again... Seems like I'm on my childhood again. 😊🎄
Well, we got our E.T. 2 now! It's incredibly short, but we got it! This is as close as we will ever get. Be glad we got this! "I'll be right here." Still makes me flood the entire house!
Just rewatched E.T. And remembered this commercial and rewatched it after the movie…they did a great job with it, still cry at this movie and commercial, timeless classic ❤
A good sequel should definitely be something like this ! And it makes sense too that ET can only return back after so many years due to the great distances between stars. And who wouldn't want to return back to his dearest friend too ! Who has helped him so much and even sheltered him when he was all alone and lost in another strange new world. Even better is that after ET has left Elliott while he was a kid, Elliott's mind actually developed some sort of telepathic power too ( but just a minor one ) due to the healing that ET gave him when his hand got injured. And of course there will be many other villains too, who will want to get this telepathic power and their technology, by any means necessary ! So once again ET and Elliott and co. will have to work together to keep staying together. Maybe they will get help from Nasa too, and then ET decides to help only the good ones about his technology. And then, after being invited again and again by ET and his people to visit their planet one day, using the technology and telepathic power that ET has given Elliott, NASA was indeed able to be a spaceship to go to their planet. And Elliott will of course be one of the main astronauts too ! Finally it was Elliott's turn to see ET's beautiful planet ! THE END
I remember growing up in the late 80's and watching this with my father. When E.T. said "I'll be right here." That got me because it's something my father has always said, even until the moment he passed away in my arms this past year. I can still feel his presence as I visit him every single day. Thansk for this. ❤
I think it´s better than a proper sequel. It was a fantastic idea to remind us of the wonder we experienced so many years ago when we first saw E.T. I am 90 now and I thought that my well of tears was already dry - evidently there are many happy tears left.
One of the best commercials ever made not just for the nostalgia which is off the charts but for the message it sends about the importance of family and reconnecting
...and that's how you do a sequel 💖

That was a pretty devastating loss for Paul Williams when you knocked him out El Maravilla.

Marry Christmas e.t
This is precious as heck
I'm a grown 41 year old Mum and E.T was in just the other night I sat there and cried (yet again) at the ending whilst my 6 year old nephew was just lost for words as to what was happening to me. I just didn't care as this movie is a part of mine and my sister's childhoods and will forever remain so until the end of time x
Saw it in the cinema when I was a kid and I feel the same as you. I still have my E.T. Action Figure from my childhood.😍😄👍
Was just listening to some John Williams scores and remembered this commercial. The bond between ET and Elliot always has brought tears of joy …
This wasn’t just a good commercial this was a great reunion of old friends
3:56 there's the Halloween picture from the original movie on the refrigerator on the right:)
Just noticed it :)
🤠
I’ll be right here
OMG the Halloween picture from the original movie at the end, in the right upper corner! MY HEART!
E.T was my childhood
This was the sequel we needed and even though it wasn’t a movie it was that it still was amazing just like movie. I’d never thought it would hit the feelings so hard
DAMN !!
Grown A$$ man tearin’ up !
My childhood was just here in my heart Thks to ET and Elliot !❤
This needs making in to a full film 🎥
I remember watching this with my wife and fondly remembering when our boys were little and the Christmases we shared. She died the next year so this commercial brings tear to my eyes.
Amazing!! Well done Sky ❤️ Who knew a 4 minute ad could be so emotional. I had tears in my eyes watching this. Just fantastic. ET 2 in 4 minutes with lots of nods to the original film. One of the best Christmas ads I’ve ever seen. 👏🏻
They need more ads like this. I also enjoyed those extended Seinfeld and Superman commercials.
@@raytoons what superman commercial is that

@@raytoons I remember now, thank you
Hands down best ad for 2021
I'm so happy it was my first movie I saw at cinema at 8 years old. Just remember how I fought my cry at the end, boy don't cry. Rented it 20 years later, I cried like a baby and surprised how his magic still work on me as an adult!! And maybe right now...
This advert somehow touched my soul...as E.T was my first cinema movie experience as a kid. Brought my 1st experience right back like Marty McFly in 4 minutes!
made me cry like i did in 1982
Watching the Henry Thomas audition for the role in ET brought me here, the audition is just as emotional... he nailed that audition.
I cry so much watching this. I love you E.T. ❤️💫
Looking at this and given the big nostalgia factor, I’m truly surprised there hasn’t been a sequel/remake of this classic 👽🤔
They thought of several stories after the original came back, but none were as good as the original, so in the end Spielberg decided to preserve the legacy of the original instead of going to the easy cash grab. Best movie never made.
Spielberg himself considers this to be an official sequel.
And then, after being invited again and again by ET and his people to visit their planet one day, using the technology and telepathic power that ET has given Elliott,
NASA was indeed able to be a spaceship to go to their planet. And Elliott will of course be one of the main astronauts too ! Finally it was Elliott's turn to see ET's beautiful planet !
THE END
I would watch that.
That sounds badass!💯
Love this it's so heart warming and so sweet l love ET
I remember growing up in the late 80's and watching this with my father. When E.T. said "I'll be right here." That got me because it's something my father has always said, even until the moment he passed away in my arms this past year.
I can still feel his presence as I visit him every single day.
Thansk for this. ❤
Best Xmas advert ever
Holy crap! I can’t believe I cried.
This is like the sequel we all hoped for.
I think it´s better than a proper sequel. It was a fantastic idea to remind us of the wonder we experienced so many years ago when we first saw E.T. I am 90 now and I thought that my well of tears was already dry - evidently there are many happy tears left.
90s baby here checking in all the classics that made my childhood golden and to die for. gets me emotional lowkey lol. Thank You
One of the best commercials ever made not just for the nostalgia which is off the charts but for the message it sends about the importance of family and reconnecting
I want this movie so bad man
Hit me hard in every good and tearful and nostalgic possible way
