That's a great way of framing it! Product knowledge is so important to these companies and they'll be much more inclined to hire you if you know a lot about their products and how your code can make them better.
As a recent graduate from a Software Engineering Bootcamp who has been struggling with the job market, this video has provided some much-needed insight and very helpful advice to me personally! Currently crafting my own personal elevator pitch and I'm going to start focusing on what "tech stack" these jobs I'm applying to have in common. Thank you for this video Jack, you've helped inspire me so much and earned yourself a new sub! I will be checking out the channel for more videos as well. =)
Could it be that the fundamental skills you mention might have been something one would acquire by finishing college? That's what a CS degree is designed to provide. Bootcamp coding instruction is primarily for teaching the syntax and vocabulary of the trendy computer languages of the day. Learning basic computer architecture, networking fundamentals, and algorithms happen when acquiring degrees in CS or engineering degrees focused upon IT.
@@JackCalvinRoss hello Jack thank you for your response. I just discovered your channel and I’m going through your videos, but I was wondering if you have a favorite website for Bootcamp for data analytics jobs?
Hey Jack, I just dropped out of community college and have nearly zero experience in coding, but i have 4 days a week off to learn how to code. I want to make this a reality. My question is what bootcamps did you complete?
Go back to college seriously do an online program this is the same job market as 2020-2022, resumes are getting thrown out if you don’t have CS or related degrees, let a lone a regular college one
@@wildboz27 wat do you prefer? I actually got a call from triple ten. They give you four choices in the program starting at 4 months to 8months. They want you to pay 4k to 7k for their four classes which are “quality insurance engineer, software engineer, business intelligence & Data Science.”
Not true, I know Senior devs who can't even get any interview off LinkedIn. The tech market is total trash right now , and most companies are posting ghost jobs
I gotta tell ya, I appreciate you for having made this video and I was about 1 inch from signing up for a coding boot camp myself but it sounds like beyond too much work so off to trade school I guess lol. That or really push myself to do this without paying a boot camp.
I just graduated this program. If anyone wants to go the bootcamp route, i highly recommend them. It is self paced, and they have tutoring sessions on a daily basis, as well as a discord community helping you with any question you have, or when you get stuck. I have a 30% referral discount code if anyone is interested in joining them, until the end of the year.
Can you recommend me the most flexible bootcamp that will not cost an arm and a leg? I do live in nyc and i don’t mind learning from home or going to a class as i have a job that allows me to be flexible
Hello there! I am also from NYC and just finished TripleTen bootcamp. Not sure what an arm and a leg for you would be, but their SE program is around $9700 right now. I have a 30% referral coupon if you would be interested in joining them.

@@d.a.2499 Hi, Im one of the graduated student from that bootcamp who came out of High school and joined. I’m telling you it’s not easy at all!!! Some people who joined this are having very strong background in education with multiple degrees and experience working in their resume. For me now it’s really hard to find a job because lack of background. What my resume has now is only those few projects from the bootcamp and education from there. But I can’t say it’s bad or not because there are some people who actually get a job from it and I just shared what I experienced. The bootcamp will teach MERN stack which is mostly JavaScript.

About to start a cloud engineering bootcamp. Though it is not code heavy, the points made in your video still apply. Thank you for this!
Good luck on the cloud bootcamp!
