To those saying choosing to be child-free is selfish, this proves that not opting to add another child to an already overpopulated country is a very considerate thing to do.
then great for you, but never vote to have higher pensions when you get older, just don't, no higher health care or any socialist crap, these not yet people, are the ones to give you that with their tax, sure end it all, but most likely we will have a collapsed society and i really think that is what you want
In trying not to be small-minded, I try and think of our WHOLE home, which would be the planet. And the planet is greatly overpopulated. We DONT NEED or even WANT 8 Billion people. Our population was fine 50-100 years ago, we had plenty of production power IF WE WOULD JUST DO THE WORK TO MAKE OUR LABOR MORE EFFICIENT!! We could easily produce more than we need. Now it's becoming dangerous not just for humans but for every life on earth.
Married and child free millenial here. When I was younger I wanted kids but right now I am half hearted to a point of not wanting kids anymore. I realized how big of a responsilibity it is, how costly it will be, lots of sacrifices to be made.
We are not allergic. We think, we are responsible we just don’t pop out babies and can’t even provide for them. It’s better to live a good life and explore than just having babies and stuck with it.
As one of the millennials, let me tell you why. We are a group of 10 friends, already in our 30s and only 2 got married with kids. It's not that we don't want to get married and have kids but life is hard enough, we're barely meeting ends meet. Almost 50% of my income goes to mortgage and the rest goes to other bills. We can't afford to have an additional mouth to feed if we ourselves are barely living.

this alone is a change of mindset. before, it doesn't matter if you don't have money, the more children you have, the more perceived blessings from above.
The younger generation are learning fast that they can’t have the life that they want if they have babies early or have more children than what they can afford. Social media, exposure to western cultures and Filipinos working abroad contribute greatly to the changing mindset of the younger generation. Metro Manila’s problem is the concentration of business and job opportunities in greater metro Manila and not dispersed throughout the country. Poverty in the Philippines is still too high. When foreigners come to the Philippines, that’s the thing they see and comment on.
yes, I do believe poverty is still high and the concentration of jobs, businesses, and opportunities are easier to do here in Metro Manila. Also, receiving the bare minimum of wages and the scarcity of jobs in the Philippines, Filipinos tend to look elsewhere, more precisely other developed countries. I do believe that western cultures is a part of the factors of the younger generation of hesitancy to build a family or less to have children, but, it might be the the cost of living in the Philippines is quite high and expensive--- also the generational trauma of having a big family, is costly and needs more time, attention, and resources in taking care a big family.

*I'm happy that we are going to the right path. Filipinos are complaining about poverty but never realize that we are over populated to the point where it is the main reason of our high unemployment rate, it's not because there are few jobs but there are just too many people that leads the employers to make there standards so high because they know that a lot of people will apply no matter what.*

Japan has a higher population and far better living standards, it’s simply that our population grew too fast and our economy which through socioeconomics, the period in which it should have grown the fastest and was growing the fastest was slashed because of the martial law and dictatorship.
Believe me we are not overpopulated, after Gen Z become adults the problems will show up, declining birth rate is never a good thing for both society and economy

As a Filipino, we have this mindset that we need to get married and have kids so that they’ll ‘rescue’ the family from poverty or when we’re old, someone will take care of us. Well, it’s a ‘NO’ for me. And as a female who is on her early 30’s… I will not settle down or bring a child to this world until I know for sure to myself that I’m stable and have more than enough to provide everything that they need and wants , a better life, because it’s not their choice to be here in this world. I will not allow them to experience what I did. I hope that the younger generations will focus first on their learning , education, personal growth and goals.

I am a millennial. I grew up dirt poor but managed to finish school and be a professional. I have a long time partner and both of us don’t want to have kids due to the challenges of raising a child here. Its not a risk but to be responsible of having a family.. the rank that we have now is for the couples and they dont include the single parents😢 abortion rate, HIV cases
Therefore, those who were educated are mostly the ones who only have 1 or 2 children. Kung sino pa ang mahirap at walang trabaho, sila pa ang maraming anak.
This insight is accurate in the Philippines today. People are more cautious nowadays to have their own family. Some are considering not to have kids when they get married. Especially, the millenials and gen z who came from big families with middle or below income class. They saw or experienced first hand the struggles of having a big family. The cons outweighs the pros.
As what I've observed, Filipinos nowadays are very cautious when it comes to building and raising a family. Typical Filipino parents of todays generation would only want to have one or two children unlike before that the minimum is around 5 or 6 children.
@Hoggster Almost everything is being mechanized. An army of farmhands used to be employed to plant/harvest a hectare of rice paddy. Now, a single person can do that using tractors and whatnot. Drones are being used to apply pesticides/fertilizers unlike before. And with the advent of AI, that single person/per hectare may just be zero as even driverless vehicles are being developed. They say with AI, the world will not be needing architects, teachers, journalists, artists, construction workers, cooks, waiters, and even prostitutes, etc. The more the people, the worse the ecological impact. All that's left is 0.9 degrees C of temperature increase until climate change becomes irreversible. Imagine providing for each baby things like diapers, toys, clothes, healthcare, feeding bottles, and school supplies. And as they grow up, hobby supplies, housing, food, water, transportation, etc. That's a huge carbon footprint.
@Hoggster Not a problem. It will just be a matter of supporting the elderly, instead of babies and their mothers. A young population has a higher dependency ratio than an ageing one. (In Australia, anyway) A child is two dependents: the child and the adult who must supervise it.
@@julm7744 Its not bcoz of poverty. Poverty was never a hindrance to increased population. In fact during the 80s when the country was hit with severe economic crisis, population grew exponentially. The probable reason for birth rate decline is bcoz of the abundance of entertainment outlets, from celfone, internet, social media, gaming etc. Also people are more educated, exposed to different culture, more people have gone abroad for vacation, more people can afford to buy cars and therefore travel more. In the past, there is a joke that says, the only source of entertainment at night is playing with each other. Now that is not the case anymore, since almost all household has access to cable and satellite tv, 5g internet, video calling, karaoke. Thanks also to the massive electrification programs govt has done thru the decades.
Both of my parents came from a big family. They had 4 kids. Big thanks to my mama who constantly reminded us that having kids is a huge responsibility.
That mentality will kill the economy, who will contribute to the pension fund if we have more oldies than young ones? Each family should have at least two (2) kids to replace them or else the fund will be depleted or the remaining young population will be taxed a tantamount just to replenish the fund..
@@bchpls24 its not that simple as the world has learned it is quite more difficult to reverse a declining population. There is a reason why india has no policy in when it comes to having a number of children even after overtaking china. If the economy is growing despite large childbirth, if you do your research, you will find out that in the grand scheme of things it is more beneficiary. Slowing population growth is what first world countries have done in the past to improve their economy only to find out that it is detrimental in the longer run ad hey have found out since highly educated people prefer having only one. Again if you do your research, birthrate must be above a certain average and we are beginning to tread the same path as the first world countries have. Rule is more population means more economic activity and another rule is as economy becomes more richer and advance, population decline is inevitable.
@Hoggster They won't have to. The elderly are often self-supporting and even economically active if they are allowed to be. When I was a child, my father supported 6 people: himself and 5 others.

Not comfortable life and too much problems both financial and family. I have an agribusiness here and I’m still not planning to have a family before 30y/o. Self love and achieving my goals first before anything else.
another reason why PH has been successfully lowering birth rates was because of the new generations mindset. instead of having kids, they prefer living with animals or adopting kids. and i actually love it! they know that the PH is so poor and they do not want their kids to grew up in that kind of environment because it is not healthy. they would love to die alone than have the mindset of old people saying "you will die alone if you will not have kids, it is hard". CHILDREN'S ARE NOT RETIREMENT FEE!!
Funny comment I found on a vid about Filipino GenZs choosing not to have kids: tita ko na laging sinasabi na "mamamatay kang mag-isa nyan" malamang? alangan naman isama kita tita?
My grandparents were ordinary people who had no inherited wealth but had 8 kids. My grandfather was a skilled mechanic and my grandmother, a seamstress. Both of them saw that education was the ticket out of poverty. They provided for all 8 kids and they all became college graduates and had professional jobs. No one had children out of wedlock or without graduating college. All my mom’s siblings, including her had 3-4 kids each. Most of us in the next generation have 1-2 kids or none. But all of us maintain that mindset of finishing college and becoming professionals. Our grandparents have built generational wealth because of their mindset of only having kids if you can provide for a college education and raising them appropriately. My father’s side were land rich farmers and also had 8 kids. Education wasn’t a priority. My dad was the only one that strived to educate himself without help from his parents. Each child had more than 6 kids minimum except my dad who had 4. We’re the only ones from from his side of the family to be college educated and are professionals. Education and mindset is the beginning!
Well it was easier after the War cause the population dropped so much with so many dead. WIth less people there was less competition for jobs and resources so back then it was fine. Now try having 8 kids and you work as a typical office worker, with prices now and inflation to continue rising I doubt you can send all 8 kids to college unless all of them are scholars or they pass in quality government schools like UP or PUP.
@@sherwinclarencego1933 Unfortunately for us, this is the way of our world now. But no matter what happens. Being educated with a marketable skill will always give you profit and a means for livelihood.

Sa dami ba naman ng supply ng fresh graduates, tapos highly competitive job market at lower income, tingin mo maganda pa rin ba ang magkaroon ng college degree?
Call me pessimistic but for me, it's too early to say that the Philippines will have a head start in its economy because of the decline of its population. There are still a lot of obvious and underlying factors that may restrain its economic growth.
Philippines should be a developed country by the time it becomes an aging population. While declining birth rate is a sign of a conscious decision when considering parenthood, it - population control - is still a variable to progress. *If another variable exponentially implodes everything else implodes in catastrophe.* For Instance, China could become the Poster child of an aging middle class, despite the fact that their government (CCP) is still fundamentally communist which is ironic. The Chinese Government holds an immense power to distribute equal resources and yet they couldn't, and the same is true for their Big Tech Giants. Blaming the government, among other institutions or their relatives to submission is still one of the thousands of *variables* or conditions to consider when pleading for change. Another variable to consider is education and competence (wisdom and knowledge). If the population declines while still having less educated citizens, this would demotivate the population in proportion to other *variables.* People will send their best kids abroad and let them live there, and their kids will forever be competent and more valuable there. This will just exhaust the country of better professionals and would not encourage local and foreign investors into the country. Also if the competition of the best is held in the country, and later maximize it, then, it would encourage local participants to the best of their abilities to nurture it even with less resources and with local cooperation, therefore, attracts both local and foreign investors. Another variable is opportunity. If the population failed to educate the succeeding generations with the essential skills and associate their progress to every aspect of society, then, the society will experience a lag or even missing years to be competitive as a whole. People would not want to plant food anymore because other food is better that there will be a time that, people would only depend on exporting the food, or worse a recipe for a dish would eventually be extinct. People wouldn't ever make a boat because it wasn't cool and modern, even though it was the fastest and could take the longest trips in which could have been modernized if given the opportunity. The opportunity that could be lost without descendants to teach. These statements would only be close to accurate because the *variables* can only steer them by the common choices made by the majority. There are more plenty of variables greatly affecting the consensus of the public, and I hope most people recognize these factors or *variables* themselves other than thinking only on population control. China, Japan, and Korea will still come to a point that the help from their descendants will be necessary before the implosion of their population. This is just my opportunistic observation.

I learned from my cousin was offered vasectomy after his third child for free. It is good to hear that we are finally addressing the high population growth. This means that if we can continue with this trend, we can finally aleviate poverty and focus more on improving the lives of Filipinos.

As a young adult who is currently a college student right now in the Philippines, I am thinking months ago that time will come that our country _might_ reach a declining birth rate. I don’t even think the term ‘trend’ is enough to define how common/normal it is for my batch of them not wanting to have children in the future. Everyone* wants to prioritize their career, seizing life, and helping each of their own parents. And the thing is, despite the possibility of a declining birth rate the moment our generation takes over in the future (like in Japan or SK), such decision (of not wanting children) still makes sense to us right now. The quality of life in this country is getting worse day by day, with the expenses, traffic, employment, and environment. Today, it even takes 4.5 travel hours from my home to my university back and forth (compare to 2-3 hours pre-pandemic). I am also once a child, and if the chance was given to me to make my own family, I would not want them, especially my kids, to experience too many hardships like I did, or am experiencing even right now. There’s no denying that ‘declining birth rate’ is going to be a big problem for the country _if ever._ But, with how currently life is to commoners like me here in the Philippines, I don’t think I, or anyone I know of, will change their mind anytime soon in regards to having no babies in our future. *Our plates are full enough and we cannot afford to get another one.* *There are 2 or 3 that I know who wants to have their own family, but it comes with a factor of them wanting to migrate overseas, lol.
@@zurctrebor3953 Not necessarily due to overpopulation. As the commenter has emphasized, it is the quality of life in the Philippines that is one of the factors why the younger generation does not want or prefers fewer children.
I don't think this is an argument between two extremes. One side is simply saying 2 is enough to replenish the population. Meanwhile, those against the RH bill are neglecting the evils that befalls families and our society from have too many children and having children irresponsibly. One side is for responsible parenthood and the other side seems to be fine with a a "come what may" attitude. I'm sure we are far from a predominantly graying population like Japan. We are simply looking for a sustainable future for ourselves, our families, and our country.
The people who are against family planning is stupid. You're not being forced to use those contraceptives, the government is just educating people that they have an option to do so.
The Catholic church should be made to pay for the resources needed to raise the 3rd, 4th and or 5th kid in any family since they are so opposed to family planning.
Crazy how just one bill was able to make such a great impact but had so much push back I remember being required to go to a seminar in my catholic school talking about how bad the Reproductive health bill was, now I know that the ppl against it were too set in their religious views that they'd choose it over practicality
Christianity is often misrepresented in their eyes. Their biases filter out the truth rather than observing the truth first hand. Instead of reading the Bible in its purity, they rely on gossip and hearsays. Nuns are voluntarily celibate and yet they disagree with the notion of being childfree. God is Dead, not literally but spiritually in a collective sense as they take it too seriously than seeing it as an allegory of life itself making it lose its hopeful magic that is available during ancient times.

What a hopeful stage we Filipinos are entering. Sana the use of contraceptives pills and condoms become a normal occurrence in our culture and no longer a Taboo.
Introducing safe sex options is also good way to decrease the birth rate. At this stage in the country's development, it's best to upgrade the healthcare infrastructure as well as improving everyone's living standards.

Turning 33 and single. Having a family of your own is a big responsibility. With the current economy that we have, I don't think anyone would want to get married and have kids. Better focus on empowering yourself, earn and save and travel!
Have a child BY CHOICE. That’s right. Separate Church from State always. Quality life first. I was born in the 80’s and most of my generation have at least 1 child and at most 4 and I think that’s perfect.
Filipinos have become a Slave since colonization of Spanish. Your real identity is MAHARLIKA. Having many children is never an issue if Filipinos will reject ur current government and adopt Customary Law
Filipino youths have actively expressed that they do not see the country as a hospitable country for children. While a lower birth rate is good, this is also an indication of the goverbment failing to make the country better.
And how does the government make the country better if there are limited resources compounded by the fact that we have corrupt officials plus the growing population? It is the height of folly to think that both can be solved at the same time (although that IS the dream). At least we have a semblance of a plan to control birthrates and empower couples with knowledge to make informed decisions about building their family, while at the same time continuing the campaign against corruption even if its slow-going.
@@coerloyal Agreed. In fact the campaign against corruption is literally going the other way! Politicians are actively hogging BILLIONS in the name of "public safety" and reducing services in education and health so I think the birth rate decline will continue but NOT because of birthrate control plans (which will surely be diminished by the lack of health funding) but because of burdened Filipinos unable to afford food, housing, and basic needs.
@coerloyal its their job to make the country better. They may have to get innovative, but there's usually always hope. If they can't get it done they need replaced.
It is because the new generation of Filipinos are mostly open-minded and smarter compared to the old. I believe one day, life would be better since the population is manageable and the new generation will elect the rightful leaders. The youth is indeed the hope of the country.

I want to enjoy life as much as I can without such worries. I want to die with less stress as possible.
Affiliates of the Liberal Party of the Philippines promoted this Reproductive Health Law during Noynoy Aquino's era, which was supported by various political parties. The surprising thing is, the Catholic Church in the Philippines has always supported the candidates of the Liberal Party even if it violates their wishes. However, the truth is, no matter which political party promotes that, people really want to limit their families because of the hardships of life. Another fact is that poverty in the Philippines has long been used as a weapon by those with money and power to keep themselves in their current social condition. Therefore it is time to continue this trend for the sake of the next generation.
Basically we leave those oligarchs dry if we have less kids. This really should be said more. Corruption should really not be tolerated anymore. We can't afford to be any worse than now

I'm from the Philippines and one of the reasons might be because employment rate is now recovering since 2021 and people are starting to rebuild their lives from the loss during pandemic. They are starting to get busy on their careers and that would mean less time to prioritize having children. Even most millennials and younger generations doesn't want to have kids yet but rather they choose to focus on their careers and grow their own finances first. But yeah, this is just based on my observations.
@K.i.t.Nascimento there was a spike of briths during the onset of the pandemic, here in the Philippines. The corona lockdown momentarily worsened it. Our population is still growing quick but more women are opting to limit child birth but we won’t feel the effects of that yet until after a decade from now.

What worries me as a developmental worker is not the declining birth rate but the age when women are getting pregnant. They have become younger. Even when they reach their twenties, both of the teenager couples are not mature enough to grasp the responsibility of being a parent. And since they are still young, they are still within the fertility window so it could be true that the birth rate is declining but it also is a possibility that the babies are yet to arrive in the near future. There must be an equal sex education not only for women but also for men.

I think the mentality of the young filipinos today that having a child is a very hard and burden. The behaviour is changing as time goes by. People are getting smarter of having a family. Some couples are also okay of not having a baby.

I'm 31 and getting alot of pressure (together with my girlfriend of same age) to get married and have kids especially from the elderly. We had to remain silent most of the time as we know that our real response would most likely raise an eyebrow or get offended. That we dont feel confident financialy to raise a child. That most of these people will say that we are only exaggerating things. But that is just how we honestly feel. Cant afford to let our future child suffer the same fate as we had, as me and my girlfriend are also product of poor families. What's worse is that this statement comes from us, both professionals (licensed engineers), and actually having relatively good careers for people of our age. Nevertheless, we still feel that what we have right now is not enough to properly raise a child. Most of our colleagues, most of same age, are on same dilemma. Cant help but think of the pressure that the less fortunate of the same age have on their shoulders. I feel sorry for our generation.
If it's brought up again to have a child ask how much time and money they will be contributing to the child that they want. If it's only your responsibility, it's only your decision.

A medical doctor in the Philippines earns about $1000 a month. Nurses often get a second job because their salary can't make ends meet. Many nurses go overseas to Europe or the US where they make enough money to support their families, including siblings and parents., then build themselves a nice home back in the Philippines for retirement. Their pensions or even Social Security are better than many full time jobs that are available. There are many students from India that come to study nursing or medicine in the Philippines. Some of them also end up in the US or Europe.
It would still look bad as it would lead to increase in retirement age and increased tax. What we would like to see is just normal birth rate (2-3 babies per couple).

A funny story happened to my clan recently. My cousin, almost in her 30s, got pregnant. Instead of admonishing her, our relatives were ecstatic that she finally got a child. Unlike a decade or so ago when my other cousins got pregnant (or married early) after high school. I live in an urban area and even if some teens get pregnant early, most of them learn to stick to just one child. Those who delay marriage/pregancies also plan to have just one, maybe two max. My parents are from simple family. We lived in the northern most Island of the Philippines (Itbayat, Batanes), just a few miles from Taiwan. My father was a farmer and my mother was a housewife. Living here is peaceful but quite harsh due to frequent typhoons. They're highschool graduates when they got married and raise us 6 siblings so I experience the harsh reality of not having family planning. Normally 6 children in a family is a common here that time. So thankfully, my parents pursue on sending us siblings to college because they believe that only education can be our inheritance to them. We became licensed professionals and only our youngest siblings was currently studying now. The oldest of us was the only one who had a child (one daughter) at age of 34.

I live here. I think the massive population is the root cause of most of the country's issues. There are too many kids and they end up undereducated, malnourished and therefore underdeveloped mentally (not saying mentally retarded). Then they grow up and can vote, become police officers, decisions makers, etc. The only way to deal with these issues is to get population under control so each child can be given the proper resources to grow. As an aside, I had a vasectomy and my wife and I are childfree. People think we're nuts, but they're the ones stressing out of their minds because they have so many mouths to feed 🙄 For many people, a child can only be a blessing, and it's totally taboo to awknowledge the enormous burden of one.
All the old lies about population control and the exhibits of masses of people in big cities during rush hours and perhaps a procession of the Black Nazarene statue are being used to perpetuate their lies. Just look at the Western and East Asian countries losing their population, unable to maintain their economy due to lack of workers. These evil liars simply want the Philippines to have the same fate as those countries. These so-called commentators are just trolls working for these NGOs who promote abortion and birth control whose pills are abortifacient as well. Moreover, there are plenty of room in the provinces both in the populated areas and undeveloped areas. A country who maintains their natural birth propagation as of yesteryears will be the economic power of tomorrow. It’s as simple as that.

@@markm_koko That’s the “oldies’” fault for ONLY relying on the state pension fund. The younger generation is tired of carrying the burden of others when WE can barely make ends meet. More purchasing power for everyone, and everyone is happy.
Its not bcoz of poverty. Education, the emergence of mobile phones and internet from the 1990's has contributed to the mentality of the Batang 80's and 90's who are at the reproductive stage. They have experienced the hardship of a big family, survived this and wants better quality of life through delayed birthing and reduced children.
My only concern with this declining fertility rate which is now below replacement rate is that we may never ever able to go back. While its great we fibally reached our goals in terms of overpopulation, it would prolly even worst if we dont begin discussing about this declining rates soon as we may end up like China or Japan which wont be good for our economy and future growth.

True... True, teenage pregnancy is the most worrying part... Sure there's decline in Urban birthrate but there is an increase in teenage birthrate and that's observable before pandemic even... I think it can be solved by 2 things: Teach those teens the reality that a baby can bring (hopefully make them discipline themselves by fear tactic) or lean on artificial family planning (Contraceptives)... We can't keep going on in giving birth and stopping education in my opinion... That and educating teen girls how to spot and respond to SA in a healthy way. It's also best to train health workers to spot these things too (As there is a percentage in teen pregnancy that is caused by SA)... Establishment teen centers is a must too, to support teens who are undergoing problems of teen pregnancy, teen SA and etc. (Provided we make them open minded to the idea of course as there is a still a stigma)... This can be done in partnership with religious orgs (Hopefully)... Rural areas on the other hand... Well, it's more societal problems as economics also come hand in hand here...
8:54 "we do not value life" What do you mean? What kind of life will we provide to our future children if we ourselves are not self sufficient. I never really understood the resistance to RH Bill. It's a good law that educates people and help them to provide a better future to their children. Just because we use contraceptives doen't mean we don't value life and its our prerogative as a married couple when and how we will bring another life in this world.
This is really a happy news and I hope it continues... People who aren't capable to give their children a proper life should refrain or stop themselves from having more kids...
Capitalism is killing the population globally. Here in the Philippines, you need at least 1,000 pesos daily to live with dignity, at least 2,000 pesos daily to live somewhat comfortably. But the minimum wage in Manila is 537 pesos, in the provinces it's around 420-470 pesos per day. How can people add other mouths to feed if they can't make both ends meet? Prices of commodities and products keeps rising and going up, but salary levels are still on the level of salary rates during the early 2000s. Companies and corporations can actually increase the wages and salaries of their employees, but chose not to, because of greed. At the end of it, the human population will get closed to extinction because of the greed of the top socioeconomic classes in the world.

The disparity between urban and rural life is evident. I believe that the answer to this is the untapped potential of a modernized Philippine agriculture.

@Hoggster
Almost everything is being mechanized.

Slowing population growth is what first world countries have done in the past to improve their economy only to find out that it is detrimental in the longer run ad hey have found out since highly educated people prefer having only one.
Well, what year was that?
True...

Call me pessimistic but for me, it's too early to say that the Philippines will have a head start in its economy because of the decline of its population. There are still a lot of obvious and underlying factors that may restrain its economic growth.
Oh cmon lets hear from this expert ....
Philippines should be a developed country by the time it becomes an aging population.
While declining birth rate is a sign of a conscious decision when considering parenthood, it - population control - is still a variable to progress. *If another variable exponentially implodes everything else implodes in catastrophe.*
For Instance, China could become the Poster child of an aging middle class, despite the fact that their government (CCP) is still fundamentally communist which is ironic.
@@maximocristobalvaldespino5408 hohoho. . Mind you in the PH, human resources ang isa sa major moneymaker natin abroad. If this rapidly declines, best believe na mag eexpect ako need natin more highpaying proffesionals na ang nag aabroad satin to replace the number of lowskill ofw.

I have a coworker who availed free implant sa center. That messed her up tho so they had to have it removed.
I learned from my cousin was offered vasectomy after his third child for free. It is good to hear that we are finally addressing the high population growth. This means that if we can continue with this trend, we can finally aleviate poverty and focus more on improving the lives of Filipinos.

Looking for comments that give credit to how well-done this documentary is. On point, honest, and eye-opening. Let this be one of those comments, good job CNA!
*Our plates are full enough and we cannot afford to get another one.*
*There are 2 or 3 that I know who wants to have their own family, but it comes with a factor of them wanting to migrate overseas, lol.
Kaya mahirap ang pinas overpopulation na 🥹

Have a child BY CHOICE. That’s right. Separate Church from State always. Quality life first.

Sadly, it has never been separated. 😓
@@coerloyal no one is saying that except this documentary.
The government's easiest way to make the country better is to reduce birth rates.
It works like a charm.

Because it's all about Interests. The Filipino Roman Catholic Church may have interests tolerated, aligned with the so-called Liberal Party.
Basically we leave those oligarchs dry if we have less kids. This really should be said more. Corruption should really not be tolerated anymore. We can't afford to be any worse than now

Well done to all the folks who took part in creating this video: researchers, analysts, script writers, interviewers, interviewees, camera people, editors, directors... (and so many, I'm sure). Superb work. Please, keep at it.

What's worse is that this statement comes from us, both professionals (licensed engineers), and actually having relatively good careers for people of our age.
Nevertheless, we still feel that what we have right now is not enough to properly raise a child. Most of our colleagues, most of same age, are on same dilemma.

With a decrease in supply of labor (population decline), job vacancies would eventually ensue, and businesses will be propelled to pay more for employee retention. More purchasing power for everyone, and everyone is happy.
Its not bcoz of poverty.
An interesting theory. I suppose this can also be seen in Japan in how some of their youths are engrossed with their pop culture (otaku) that some isolated themselves from society completely (hikikomori).
The program theorized that the decline is due to increase in contraceptive use. You are theorizing that there is less sex now due to other activities
as a filipino i really agree with you
I strongly agree.
@@albertteng1191 Even before these modern things existed,I just felt it in my gut that there is more to life more than having kids,I just felt that I wanna be single, honestly, not everyone wants to be married
Population control is a bad idea. Almost every nation is struggling with decrease. It’s mismanagement of the Philippine economy that’s bad, not the people. They’re one of the most hardworking and talented people I know. I’m saying this as an Indian.
The Philippine archipelago is too overpopulated. It's less the size of California but has more than 3x the population...
Thinking of individual or thinking about community. I say let consider the wellness of individuals. It is nonsense if we let children come to poverty because of future economic problems
That's the only problem to them because of the pension system to them won't be enough for the graying population. The pension system here in the Philippines is unreliable in the first place anyway and everyone here in the Philippines expected it already. This is the best time to lower the population without the pension getting in the way.
I grew up from lower income family. I hated my parents for being comfortable with daily wage living. My peers always tells my why I don't have a family yet. To bring a child into this world with barely scrapping by is very irresponsible. I want to have a family and children and have the means to live without worries. Everything is expensive nowadays. Wages have not risen and only a few people benefited from the rise of technologies.
Dapat hindi nakikialam ang mga pari at madre sa gobyerno. Ang dapat din gawin is turuan at magkaroon ng seminar about responsible parenthood.
Tama dahil may separation of church and state. Saka yang mga pro-life na yan, masyado silang paladesisyon at pakialamera sa buhay ng iba. Pero ask them if they are willing to adopt children na napabayaan ng mga magulang, for sure no ang isasagot nila. The hypocrisy..
It's being realize today that any country having a slow population growth are suffering greatly due to lack of people thus they invite immigrants to populate their countries even giving money and providing many services if only their citizens will choose to have more children
@@ai03277 there is no such thing as separation of church and state.
@@richardnuevo there is. It is stated in the Philippine constitution
8:54 "we do not value life"
What do you mean? What kind of life will we provide to our future children if we ourselves are not self sufficient.
I never really understood the resistance to RH Bill. It's a good law that educates people and help them to provide a better future to their children. Just because we use contraceptives doen't mean we don't value life and its our prerogative as a married couple when and how we will bring another life in this world.
This is a great step for Philippines' development, enrichment of its citizens
Is To Lated Already For Philippine And Indonesia Overpopulate
Most GenZs basically don't have the energy to raise big families.
lol funny una lang yan susunod marami na matanda kisa sa Bata mga bubu bababa ang Economia at babalik pa rin sa gutom.
I'm Millennial and even I don't have the energy to raise a family. i don't get the mentality here. dealing with our families already is exhausting. o sige manganak pa MOREee 😂
Why? Are they inferior to Gen X or Millennials?
I'm millennial and not even planning to raise one.
@@sunnywintermorning1941 No, people just became more practical. Poverty is high, minimum wage is way too low, finding jobs in an already oversaturated market is difficult. Why add the problem of making and feeding more children when simply staying afloat is already hard? It's not even just genz, even millenials don't want more than 1 or 2 children in this economy.
In my family, out of 4 siblings, 3 are single ( including me), and all of us have white collar jobs in our 30's , but still, we feel like we can't afford adding another member as we can't see any improvements in the Philippines right now that would help us in raising another human being. It seems having a child these days is like torturing another life.
The disparity between urban and rural life is evident. I believe that the answer to this is the untapped potential of a modernized Philippine agriculture. The Modernization Act passed in 1997 still can't be felt by much of this sector. The government still has a lot to work on to alleviate farmers and fishermen from poverty. Please give them the support and entreprenurial spirit that they need.
Yes, it's true that the human population must be accompanied by better human resources, I hope my country will also follow in the footsteps of the Philippines to crack down on having many children
What country do you live in?
I bet it's a religious dominant one.
In reality Filipinos likes feels the pain of high inflations. Life is so hard to have many kids. Realization that either rich or poor family to plan have to 2kids are ideal to give better future. Family planning is just secondary for ordinary Filipinos.
I am one of the contributors to this decline. Me and my partner decided not to have a 2nd child.
This is a good decline because this will mean that less and less Filipino are going to become homeless. But the Government should keep an eye on the decline and make sure not to plummet even further.
For now, I think the PH is have enough people to sustain growth in the coming years. Although, I agree that they should be equipped with services that would make them production in our economy. This statement has struck me: Real authentic maternal health should not be equate with access to contraception.
I’m 72 now we are 9 in the family but now we had got 3 kids each & All professional. It’s a lesson to us that more kids is a hell. So be wise in every decisions you had in life.. be stressed free…enjoy life to the fullest..
