Around the council estates, you knew every hot day there would be a few ice cream vans turn up. When I was a kid right outside my house there was a punch up between 2 van owners who just happen to come around at the same time. One of them was run by a well known in the area Italian family the other Asian. For a while most served a light yellow, lemon flavor kind of ice type of ice cream more often than mr whippy

I live in the US and the ice cream truck in my area plays this sound. Rare here but I guess this is the norm in places like the UK? It's pretty but has such a sad undertone to me.
Must really be something to live in a culture so rich that in daily life, there's echoes of the past from your countrymen of 500 years ago that connects you. The multi-kulti United States knows no such feeling.

Most vans play it for longer as the standard full length of a harvin chime is around 20 seconds
