My 35 year old stuffed raccoon, Ricky, looked WAAAAAAAAY worse than Mr. Floppity so I figured I had to give it a try. He looks almost as good as he did new! He is the only family I have left from when I was growing up so I can't thank you enough for this video!

Really you did this on a 35 year old stuffed animal!? I have two bears that are also 35 (mine since infancy, and my late mother's), and I am very worried about doing anything to revitalize them because they may just fall apart, and I'm not willing to risk that. They are family to me, and especially important as I live a continent apart from the rest of my fam, but are starting to look like they might disintegrate.
Do you have any before/after pics... or special advice for extra delicate/old patients?
      Thanks

WHAT??? I have a 40 year old raccoon named Ricky that I’m looking to clean, that’s why I’m here. My dad gave it to my mom 40 years ago and they passed it to me and and I’m passing it onto my kid. That’s so weird!

For anyone with kids that would get upset at the thought of cutting open their beloved plush, I have a tip my mom used to use because I was exactly that type of child. She would take a plastic bottle cap and put it over the plush's nose like a mask used for administering anesthetia for real surgery. Tell your child that the plush is fast asleep now and won't feel a thing until you give him a hug to wake him once he's sewn back up again. And viola, with just a little imagination your child's worries will be put at ease

Yeah I’m 14 and I wanna restore my plush but I’m scared that I’ll have to cut her open because to me she’s very much alive. So I might put her “under anesthesia” to calm myself down from the traumatic process of it lol. Some people like to call it a spa but to me cutting open a plushie isn’t too therapeutic for them 😨

    • @staceyhunt6769
      @staceyhunt6769 Год назад +12

@kiara2583 Try using a seam ripper on an existing seam instead of cutting a hole. It's better for the fabric as it can be done far more continously, meaning you can repair for years to come. I know this comment is a bit late but I hope it's handy anyways.

      Romans 8:38-39
And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow-not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below-indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord. 💗

Me and my girlfriend recently went through a horrible house fire and very few of my plushes survived it. They belonged to both me and my mother and I had already lost my mother last year. This was the video to give the life they deserved back to those plush survivors of the fire. Thank you so very much. I'm a grown man but seeing these toys restored brought tears to my eyes. *A tip for scratched eyes:*
You can use a nail file or sandpaper on the eyes and then go over them with top coat/clear nail polish or varnish. There's not much of a difference between using a sharpie like in the video unless looking very close, but I prefer to this to keep the clear fish-eye/dome look :)

I don’t usually write these long thank you messages but I couldn’t leave with a clear Conscience without letting you know how thankful I am for this. My beloved stuffed Labrador (the size of Mr.Floppity) is almost eight and she was beyond disrepair before I came across this video simply from how much she is loved.
I’ll admit it, I still sleep with a stuffed animal but it’s quite honestly the only way I’m able to sleep. For whatever reason, I never grew past it even when my parents tried to force me to grow out of it. When I received Duchess, I took her everywhere for the first three years. Trying to be nice like you were to your daughter, my mother threw her in the wash on the third year while I was at school finding wipes just weren’t doing it.
She forgot to pull her out of the rest of the load of laundry and ended up throwing her in the drier too. Although thankful, I was distraught to find her matted came to accept it was probably how she’d look for the rest of the time I’d manage to keep her. She ended up staying mainly in my room from then on to try to prolong her life.
This last Thursday Duchess had reached her limits with the abuse of tossing, turning and being held onto through the night to the point that her neck was starting to stretch out from the weight of her head due to the lack of stuffing.
I spent a good hour pouring over the web for a solution to restore her. Something I didn’t think of at age 10. Feeling hopeless after only finding animal hospitals whom do it for the sum of $100.00 across country; I did one last search on RUclips and fell across your video. After watching, I spent under $5.00 and in two hours, Duchess was returned to her former glory. I never thought I’d get to touch the soft fibers of her fur again. It had been absolutely extraordinary seeing the change and as you said in the video; rather enjoyable to preform.
I can’t keep her fur from puffing up like an Afro especially on the head now but I figure it’s probably due to how short it is given the nature of the animal. Regardless, I’ve never enjoyed burying my face in her fur more than I did last night. The best part was finally getting to see her white again! No matter how much fabric restoring solution I used, I could never get this poor dog’s fur to its former white pigment. After brushing the matted fur out; it became abundantly clear that, that was the issue the entire time. So thank you. I know it wasn’t much but it means the world to me.

Can’t wait to try this on my stuffed rabbit, Blue. He’s been my best friend since I was born 16 years ago. We would hunt for worms together and play “how far can I launch him on the swings”. Needless to say he was and still is well-loved.
Edit) Just tried it. Didn’t really work, guess 16 years of tough love took a tole on my boy. Did end up getting some wood chips out of his fur! He does look a little less matted and more of his old color.

You have saved my wonderful Big Puppy I've had since I was six! (He's 12 years old currently)
This guy has carried me through my childhood like an absolute soldier. Eater of nightmares and tears.
I'm cleaning him up before a big move of house.
Luckily for me he is too large of a stuffed animal to be played with so he's remained in quite good condition. But he's an old man!
He has two stitches my mother gave him earlier in life. Including one right down his spine where he tore open and I balled my eyes out until she fixed it and made the seam stronger.
I like to think of it as his battle scars.
I've survived extreme migraines and terrible grief with him. He provides pain relief both physically and emotionally.
But he's too big and too fragile to get washes anymore. So I'm really glad I found this video.
(For those of you wondering, his name is Big Puppy because it is the very first thing I said when I saw him on Easter day on our couch. I remember explicitly that I screamed "Big Puppy!!!" And flopped onto him immediately. The name stuck. I literally can't change it. Nothing else sticks as well.)
Thank you! I'm very empathetic towards my stuffed animals. So taking care of them is like taking care of a pet or a child to me. If they get "hurt" it's just as emotionally painful to Me as if they were alive. I'm glad I get to take care of him.

Your video has given me hope on Christmas Day. I had an original 1999 Pikachu doll that I've kept perfect for almost 20 years... then my toddler became obsessed with Pikachu so I gave him the doll and he took him to bed - then was unfortunately sick last night. My husband stripped the bedding and threw all teddies in the wash with it. On a mega hot wash. Oh my god I almost cried when I saw Pikachu today, he looks like utter month-old roadkill. Absolutely horrible. Your video has completely brightened my mood, I won't throw Pikachu away (I could barely stand to look at him) I'll give this a go first!! THANK YOU for lifting my spirits!

I have a polar bear named KitKat that a distant aunt gave to me when I was 2. His eyes were shiny and rounded, his fur was snow white and plush, and he was filled nicely. Now I am 14 and his eyes are not the same size and cracked, his fur is discolored and rough, and he has somehow lost half of the plastic beads in his body. He is sad-looking, but I still love him very much.

      Sara Hunter
I have a plush dog thats roughly 15 years old and hes supposed to be white with some light brown/beige accents but the whit eis kind of a light gray, his eyes have were originally felt but weve needed to sew some thick black thread over half of the eyes to make sure they dont reveal the white underneathand the nose has had to be stitched on before since it almost fell of and the his stuffing is somewhat similar to that bunny (with the really thin part) but in body it is bean bag stuffing (or something similar) and the rest is normal plush stuffing.
The fur is incredibly matted but i dont remember it being anything else.
The stuffing is perfect the way it is for how i like to hug him while sleeping (dont judge me its comfy) and the eye texture being weird is not something i care about.
The grayness of the white (and the slightly blue spot from when i fell onto blue chalk dust) is really the only thing that i want to fix the rest is memories and emotions and i dont want that to go away.

Actually, my teddy bear (15 years old) looks so bad, I am not even sure what textile he is made out of or if he ever was anything like fluffy. I don't remember him any different 😂 The fur is basically just patches and brushing him makes him look like a cactus cause it's all dirty and stiff and sticking together 🌵 I might go invest quite some time into this and see if I can do something. Btw thought, I'd have totally freaked out to find out that my mom has *CUT OPEN* my teddy or used markers on him! 😱😂 I even used to cry and be angry at her when she washed him because he'd loose his smell, and also I thought he'd drown 😂

I got the brush for Christmas and it was so satisfying to brush out my animals. Even newer animals were 10x softer then they were. My vintage stuffed animals were so easy to brush out, and the older washed stuff animals are all poofy again. I brushed atleast 6 different type of haired stuff animals, some are not made to be brushed, I brushed out a washed animal that has thick like wirey hair, it’s all poofy now but it’s not brand new looking but it does look better. Really depends on the stuffed animals hair. Kinda miss how it looked before to be honest, but the brush is amazing

THANK YOU ! Teddy has been through everything! I got her as a lil girl when firefighters had to come to my apartment, they let me into the front seat of the truck and gave me one of my most prized possessions. I'm 23 now. A dozen moves, being left in the rain in the swing at a park, one time I even gave a priest the side eye (I was 6, my parents did not bring me to church unless it was a funeral and my grandma whisked me away asap! ... lol) bc the priest called teddy a boy when she is "OBVIOUSLY" a girl..lol. Lots of memories that you might have saved with your video! I'd keep her no matter how crusty she looks, but she might be nice-looking enough for my couch stuffed animal pile after this! She's quite old now.. but I think I've been nicer to her than most kids were since she only has zombie nose (from the fake leather rubbing off) and matted fur. You may have saved my best friend. Will update comment if I remember!

Well I have my favorite teddy bear which I still sleep with (her name is Kávinka (in our language) but in english it's diminutive of the word coffee (cuz she is coloured like white coffee)). I've never played with dolls like normal girls did but I've had (and still have) a huge plush zoo. And this girl somehow happened to be my favorite. I've got it from my dad from a business trip (I think USA) in early childhood and now I have it like 15 years (and still sleeps with it) but it got dirty af. Once when I was 6 or 7 my mom decided to wash it through the night in a washing machine because it got blue stain from only god know what. I've cried my heart out and mom found me at the morning sleeping in the basement next to the washing machine. The stain is still there but from now I'm so scared about her. I haven't slept with her since I've got my first period to not daub her (and I know I've said I still sleep with her but she is on my shelf right behind my head as I sleep)
So after the 8 years she is messy af but I'm scared to wash her. Should I try it? Oh and also as might have guessed I'm 15 now and I'm a healthy person :) but I buy on every christmas a Baby born outfit/dress cuz it fits her perfectly ;)

Had to re-sew up her lace clothes, even her arm had to be sewn back on. I had already fixed one cracked eye (like you had suggested I did exactly that.. sharpie and nail polish ).... She's still a bit worse for wear.. I'm still working on her, I have a couple more days.. ... but thanks to you she at least isn't all matted!!. However my results were a little more frizzy than fluffy but that's probably the age of the materials and the # times I machine washed it over the years. THANK YOU ! =D

Bad idea to do such things to your kid's stuff huggie without asking them first ... some kids may not like the new look ... I for one would be very very angry to someone restuff my stuff toy because it will look like a different toy and lose its original character and personality .. also the bleached look can be off putting if done to such extent, the toy used to have thicker strands of fur but the brush made the strand unfurl into finer strands which again make the toy lose its original look and character ...
Ya it may look brand new but its like so way too different that it looks like the toy you once knew is now completely lost forever ...
