As sad as this is, all undocumented immigrants, have had plenty of time to fix their immigration status. I have acquaintances that have done exactly that and many have gotten their green cards and are in the process of becoming U.S. citizens after 5 years of living honest hard working lives. This may look cruel, but when you laugh at the law of the land thinking that you will never get caught, this is the end result. Now, they get to go back to their country, wait 10 years and then try coming back legally. It’s as simple as saving $7,000 and instead of paying it to a coyote, you pay a reputable attorney so he/she can set you up to be legal in this country. It’s a no brainer.
Don't forget They dropped off loads of immigrants last year and Chicago was a major spot. So although it hasn't been 5 years and they haven't had time to get their stuff together, the problem is a lot of them half criminal backgrounds that probably should have never made it over here.
