*FUN FACT: in their photos in Y version, Taehyung is wearing a shirt that says "innocent" and Jin is the one that has "control"*
your theory makes sense because Tae may not be the devil but he also may not be a fully bad guy. he knows whats happening and Kookie is trying to escape but tae wont let him because he knows that without kookie staying alone then everything and everyone will fall apart. i think tae is a time traveler not jin because tae is trying to keep the control and balance, jin just happens to be the one changing variable, and that could be tae influencing him in every timeline. it all connects to tae because the mirror had his highlight reel vandalism upside down saying save me, he knows hes not necessarily doing the best thing or figuring it out in the best way but its the only way that keeps working and keeps changing things so hes wanting someone else to help him find a different way but until then he has to keep everything in balance.
also the fact that singularity is a solo, and it seems like hes reflecting on his decisions but hes too far into it to back out and be able to change it. that could also tie into the "save me" vandalism.
and then the part at the beginning in the dance, where kookie leans on tae and tae lifts him up, that could be symbolizing kookies acceptance of being the sacrifice and suffering or something
PLUS the lines "for you i could pretend like i was happy when i was sad, for you i could pretend like i was strong when i was hurt" it ties in with him being the omelas child and it also ties in with begin, everything suggests hell do whatever it takes for his hyungs to be happy, therefore leading into his acceptance of being under taes control and helping to change time
basically the entire thing. "i wish love was as perfect as love itself, i wish all my weaknesses could be hidden" hes saying he wishes he could show his love in a way thats as proper as its told, not by having to give himself up. hes also saying that he wishes that people will only see his good, his happiness, and that everything tthat doesnt make him perfect will be ignored so that it wont affect how he loves and is loved.
"i dreamed a flower that cant be bloomed in a dream that cant come true" it speaks for itself. he imaginex something impossible in a world that is impossible. basically everything that he wishes could happen will never happen. its saying that his efforts and time spent trying to change time and controling everyone are useless, but he cant do anything about it.

Lizzy Boyd also: the flower had to do with the story 'La Città di Smeraldo' which is where the whole smeraldo flower came to be. In the story during 1500s or 1600s in a small town from Italy an 'ugly' man lives a secluded life in a castle after being subject of abuse and hate of others because of his appearance while growing up, and so he had never shown his true emotions to anyone, he never opened up. His only happiness is to grow flowers in the castle's garden. And so one day a lady he had never seen before jumped over the garden fence and took some flowers with her. At first the 'ugly' man was angered by this, and decided to keep an eye out but he fell asleep at night and the woman took more flowers. As this kept happening he grew curious and started watching her, and after a while he found out the woman was selling the flowers to make a living. He wanted to somehow help her, but his fear of showing his appearance to her kept him from meeting her, so he decided to create a new flower that had never existed before so she could sell them at a hefty price: the smeraldo flower. But after many days she hadn't gone back to the garden and eventually he found out she had died. The whole theme of this is that the man never told her how he felt because he was afraid she would not love him because of how he looked. He never loved himself.
(And if you notice, the Singularity MV reflects the story to the T).

Lizzy Boyd it doesn't cease me to amaze me how everything is so so connected- maybe that's why Tae is secluded here, underground. Now, why did Jin have the flower at the beginning? Why did Guk find it at the end? Does he die like the girl in the story?? KQNWKWWK
I know I may be damn late but I've seen this theory on Twitter and thought you might want to consider it?
Basically, instead of Jungkook running away from anybody (Taehyung as you mentioned) he is running towards the other members. The rest of them are all trapped with their fears, too scared to leave their "fear rooms" (e.g. Hoseok's was the room with lots of Snicker bars and had props that looked like amusement park to signify the fear of his mother abandoning him at that amusement park).
We see Jungkook, in some way or another, looking into all his member's rooms. But the rest of them are trying to protect him by not letting him in. Jungkook is looking down into Jin's room, through those wooden planks in Yoongi's room, he is standing right below Taehyung's room, and on the other side of Namjoon's mirror, trying to push open Hoseok's door but he's resisting, etc. The whole "Fake Love" concept is based on the fake love the members have experienced. In Jimin's case, it was Hoseok abandoning him while he was left in the hospital. In Yoongi's case, his mother who set herself on fire, and so on.
And so, due to them being so tired of these fears, (as seen in the first comeback trailer), they exchange those fears with the items received from the girls in the Highlight Reels. An umbrella, a cake, a lollipop, a hairband, etc. That is the fake love they receive in return, but something that temporarily fills their voids.
Eventually, they get tired of all this back and forth between pain and fake love that they shut themselves out from eachother in their "fear rooms". All except Jungkook; his fear being not being able to help his hyungs during their hardships. That's why we see him trying his best to get to them and help them.
This is so, so long, I'm sorry! I just found it really fitting and I thought you might wanna hear about it. Also, it seems reallllyyy plausible. But honestly I have no idea what to believe because your theory is basically just as good and valid sooo bottom line is: my brain cells are dead.
From my perspective, V, Jin, and Jungkook are the controllers. They're fighting for control, with Jungkook being the "light", V being the "darkness", and Jin being inbetween ("time").

They used the writing style of “save me” that if you flip it upside down it says “I’m fine” also it looks like their are cellphones all over the walls during that scene which are what are lighting up and this writing style for save me and upside down it saying I’m fine was very popular on social media for a long time and it was popularized and the kind of deception where it usually was put out as “I’m fine” and upside down it was “save me” to show that there are two sides to every story and sometime you have to look at things a diferent way to see the truth. so maybe it could signify that love and happiness on social media verse real life is very fake not representative of who people really are and or the idea of the fact that sometimes you have to look at things differently to see the truth because the surface level can be deceptive and not an accurate representation of the underlying problems. I also think the fact they used the version of save me and the flip side I’m fine interesting because this album sounds like another extension of wings which was about their personal struggles and the love yourself her album was about being happy with and love yourself so it could also signify a roll back in time where they feel like they are slipping back into their own struggles instead of moving forward with being okay who they really are. At least that was one of my main take always was noticing that

I stayed up and watched their broadcast on vlive but I passed out before 5am (when the album came out where I am) and woke up like 7am because apparently my mind felt ready. (Spoiler alert: it was not)

The story of Lot's wife does seem to tie into this in a way. At least the pillar of salt portion. My guess is that what happened in Euphoria was a dream that Jin had out of grief and guilt about the way things turned out. Fake Love is the aftermath or him waking up and realizing that everything is still the same and therefore falling apart
(Edit): Taehyung isn't necessarily the devil, but I think his fall mimics that of the devil in a way. Like Lucifer's fall, when Taehyung "fell", or killed his father in this case, he brought the others down with him. He's like the driving force behind everything. That doesn't necessarily make him the puppet master specifically

Honestly, at 7:21 when V is surrounded by all of those lights, I think they might be like screens of phones and tablets. The thing behind him, I'm pretty sure, also says "Save Me". This is just my opinion but I think that this song is also talking about the media, and how we have surrounded ourselves in something that we think is good, but is also fake. We see the internet as something that lifts people up, and it can, but at the same time, the thoughts of the media picking people up, is fake. Its like a mask to hide how much the internet and social media can really put people down. By V standing in that hallway with all those screens, he is surrounding himself in that negativity, and he wants to be lifted from it, therefore the "Save Me". But the others can't save him because of the fake front that the media has. So all in all, I think this song also has a great deal with social media and how it can affect a person by trapping them in this hole, surrounded by it all. But hey that is just my opinion, sorry if this was long and stupid, I was just thinking.

If you look closely, you can see all the members in their respective "settings" that link them to previous songs etc. J-Hope had the room full of snickers (refference to MAMA), V was in a corridor surrounded by phones (highlight reels), Suga was in a room full of fire (I Need U etc), Jimin had the room full of water (highlight reels - the rain, and i need u - bathtub filling), Jin had his room and his flower that he supposedly uses to go back in time (or at least in my theory) (reference to highlight reels and to euphoria etc), RM had the mirror (reflection) but i didnt notice anything for JK. This is however only my speculation as i think it closely links
