I like the idea of putting a rail for the hose to move along, will give that a try as I'm just setting up my dust collector for my cnc. Thanks for the input.
I have a rod with the hose connected to a ring with zip ties which slides along with the machine. The rod runs along the center of the y axis (97 inches) with enough slack that will cover the total distance of the x axis (49 inches. It hangs down some what but seems to work okay. As always enjoyed your video.
So if the flex hose needs to be secured in a fixed location then maybe it should be a rigid duct... I like the rail idea for the flex duct part. Needs to move freely so something like an industrial curtain rail might do the trick. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Stephen. I like the idea of a rigid duct because it will have the smooth sides but it is just such a short run it hardly seems worth it. Cheers Peter
Well, since you asked for it... Smooth walled tubing would increase your airflow a compared to a hose. Might want to replace majority of the run with that :)
Hey man it works and how many people are going to see it? oh yes all us subscribers :-), i think its cool and i see you must becoming out of winter noe as chip is back with us, great news :-)
Thanks Bernie Springs only a week away and thanks to global warming I didn't see a single frost or any ice this winter. No wonder the wee fellas grumpy. I hate getting up early myself. Cheers Peter
Great video Peter and great idea. I think I will have a crack and making one myself. Just a quick question. What vacuum do you use? I recently got a shop vac, but the hose is only about 50mm (2inch) diameter. Does it help having a larger diameter? Nice to see Chip again.
Thanks John Not sure which vacuum you mean. The dust extractor is a generic 1hp vertical extractor with a 4" hose. A more powerful one would be better but it's a trade off between available space and the cost of running it. I built a Thein separator into it to collect most of the dust before it gets to the collector. The vacuum I used on the vacuum table is a Festool ct22 I borrowed from my brother and it has a 32mm hose. Unfortunately I have to give that back just as soon as he finds out. Cheers Peter
think the material heating up made the ink stick to the vacuum table , heared sumting about butlers ironing the newspaper for their boss so they dont get ink on their fingers

Love it. That poor vacuum hose is no longer being strangled, how happy could a hose get.
Thanks Hager
Peter, enjoy all your videos and your dry sense oh humor! Nice work and keep it up!
Thanks Tony
haha! It was refreshing to be doing CNC research and coming across a little humor. Thanks!
Thanks Nicole.
Nice job Peter. Nice to see Chip joining you again too.
Thanks Dave.

Now you mention it I have seen similar setup. Simpler that the arrangement I was thinking about. Thanks for the reminder.
Cheers
Peter
Love the video and your humor! "What are you going to do..." That's something I would say. Keep them coming. Thanks Pete
Thanks Dave
Peter, I have the same hose mine is hanging like yours was I use Bungee cord Nice fix .
Thanks Lou

Nice solution Peter great video thanks.
Thanks Geert

Nice solution! I need to do something similar. Thanks for the idea, Peter!
Thanks Mark but I'm sure there is something better out there.
nice to see chip again !lol
Thanks Darren
ive seen people use rope tied from one end of the shop to the other overhead with pulley wheel to ride on with bracket hooked to the hose
Thanks Frank. Something to think about.
Cheers
Peter
nice job Peter looks better without hose in your camera shots cheers
Thanks Robert

Great tip, I will immediately instruct my butler to iron my paper. If I ever get one. 😉😂
i mounted an arm above my 8x4 cnc. it swings over and back as the gantry moves
Thanks Alan. I saw Frank Howarth do something similar on his channel but it looked a bit over the top for my small machine.
Cheers
Peter
franks is a bit over kill. mine is a bit more agricultural than his
Frank's is a work of art - I like his wooden "I Beam" arrangement in the part 2 video. I think you need to take on that challenge Peter!!
His build was awesome but I think I will give it a miss for my setup.
Cheers
Peter
