You can break apart the sugar apples like Tiffany did with the other fruit, once they're soft enough. Usually, you would pick them just before they're ripe and let the sit at home for a day or two and then eat them. That's probably why they were in 2 separate batches when you first saw them. Some ripe and some still a bit green. They're quite literally a sugar apples. Sometimes you get little bits of sugar when eat a small section.
It's so interesting hearing how different fruits are called in other languages and regions. I'm Colombian (from Barranquilla) and sugarapple looks like a small version of a fruit we call Guanábana (It's usually used for juice and it is the creamiest and sweetest Juice ever, it has a texture similar to yougurt ) and golden berries we call them uchuvas.

The sugar apple here in Jamaica is called sweetsop. It is normally soft when ripe and is extremely sweet. It’s really good. The one you had looked a bit hard which is not the typical way to eat it.

Tips for the sugar apple: it needs to be soft to the touch first like almost mushy soft for it to be ripe. You just cut it open and eat the inside. When it’s ripe it’s literally so sweet. Straight up sugar

The expensive soy sauce is actually so good! The orange label on the left is dashi soy sauce! It has a light flavor and it’s good for cooking light dishes too ❤️
My grandparents used to have sugar apple(?) plants (we called it Srikaya here) so when it's in season, my whole family will enjoy them. I FREAK OUT when you use a knife to open it TTATT cuz you can just press it with your hand and it will come off one by one... There's also a lot of mangosteen here, I'm not a fan of it though, I think I've only eaten it once and that's it. Also, yes, the sugar apple have a lot of seeds,when I was a kid, after eating the fruit my grandma will wash the seeds and let me play with the seeds
