Prevailing theory for baseball bats and golf clubs is that the thinner the handle the more whip resulting in more speed. Therefore, adding the tape to make a thicker handle probably blunts the power advantage a little bit but also gives you a bit more control.
Dude I really hope your channel blows up, great review and great video quality👍🏽👍🏽
Great video, tons of useful information. I am a beginner (3 months) and was wondering which one of these 2 would you recommend for someone in my situation.Regards
I came to this video to decide what to get for my fiancée and myself. I have a history in tennis but she's brand new to paddle/racquet sports. I drive far more often and she prefers focusing on dinks and resets. I think I've decided to get the power for myself and the control for her. That way we can at the very least try both of them out. Thanks for the video, it was super informative and helpful!
For us short people with small hands. You can always add over grips but you can't subtract them. :)
ive noticed that a smaller grip allows you to give it the death grip
I think Paris Todd is using one of these paddles now. Good price point.
Not a ramble, was a good analysis from an advanced player. I struggle with decisions between power and control. My 003 is a nice hybrid of these objectives but as a Selkirk Advocate I need to have the Halo experience. I’m ordering a demo tomorrow and going to try the power model.
hows the vibration on it (16mm) with off center hits? looking for a longer paddle than my ovation speed but i'm not really feeling the new prokennex's that have been released
I tried them today, and was surprised how "solid" they felt. I'd need to try them again. I'd probably like the Control but with the smaller grip which they don't offer. I'd also like to try the Max versions.
Grip size is important to me, this is why I’m not going to order the control version as the grip is not long like I need. The grip on the control is larger and larger grips reduce my wrist movement.
for more power with control paddle -can one add lead tape to edge?
Did you put another grip tape in your slk halo paddle? I know it was a brown leather grip tape.
Hi, are these paddles out all ready? I can't find them. If you don't mind answering, what's the weight of the power paddle? Maybe I missed that.
Would you recommend adding weights
Probably just the extra thickness of the core that runs through the handle?
Thinking of selling my CRBN 1 for this.. I'm a huge fan of the pillow softness the Vanguards have but their spin degrades so rapidly! I haven't been able to gel the same with my CRBN so I'll try this one and see. BTW saw that 10:10.. 😂
I have the control max version and it for sure has more power then my girlfriends CRBN1
5 overgrips my guy?! Sheeesh
Is the end cap smaller than Selkirk's normal end caps that you would see on amped and vanguard paddles? Or is it the same end cap as those? Thanks!
The end cap looks similar to the other selkirk paddles.
Love the feedback Porter. Keep these awesome segments coming - Joey
Have you added lead tape?
Ughhh I can't wait for my advocate referral credit to come in so I can order some of these.
It’s a sweet paddle, I’m switching to it full time for now
@@porterbarr that is a STRONG first impression!!! They must be on to something.
@@PeterFaletto I honestly think so, the amount of control AND power you can get is really nice. It’s a very good blend
@@porterbarr Guess I will have to demo that paddle soon.
@@porterbarr wow, I wasn’t expecting you to be switching. Since you said this I’m thinking of switching my order from the control version to the power version since I have a Power Air and a Vanguard. Sounds like the power version sits in-between the two. Where do you feel the 003 sits in with these 4 paddles?
When SLK first came out, I was pretty excited to see an entry level series from a high end company. So I’m having a hard time understanding who these are for when you can get a vanguard for about the same price. I know the price may have to do with inflation, but why drop a paddle in a series that’s known for being affordable at this price? It’s equivalent to Onix releasing a Recruit paddle at $140. It just doesn’t make sense to me.
Vanguard is $60 more at $200. That's a different market.
He’s probably referring to the amped series which is fiberglass not CF
What’s up with that weird vein above your left eye 😮 is that a cyst ? I have a similar on my cheek. Must watch again - couldn’t stop looking at it pop in and out 😩…..
Ok .. I pre ordered the control option on this! Good review!
bro...
@@porterbarr Ignore him. Keep up the good work!
@@zachcarmichael699 I know ahahaha, this comment made me laugh 😂 appreciate you watching
are you switching though?
Yeah I am using this paddle full time now, I really really just enjoy the amount of control AND power that it has
