- MERMAID SWIMMING WITH FISH THROUGH SEAWEED (a freshwater underwater mermaid video) - Many people want to see mermaids in real life underwater while they swim, but unless you live somewhere with a thriving mermaid community, that may be difficult to do. Luckily, we have the power of the internet, and with the power of the internet, I am able to share my mermaid swimming videos with you. Yay! This underwater swimming video was filmed in a freshwater inland lake in the state of Michigan. The fish that you see in this video are not paid (or fed) actors, but they didn't seem to mind being on camera too much. If there is one thing dad and I have learned from our time spent in various freshwater lakes, it is that fish are curious. They aren't afraid of you, they just get out of your way so they can get a better look at you from a new angle! XD
Anyway. Please enjoy this mermaid swimming video. The mermaid that you see in this video is me. I am wearing a silicone mermaid tail that was custom-made for me by MerNation Inc. Thank you guys so much for watching this video! Sorry that this one was so bright... my Rebellion tail reflects the light WAY too well, and my old Sony FDR x3000 made things a little too bright sometimes. The combination can create some serious eye-strain while editing! XD

How can I actually be a professional merman if I have thalassophobia (fear of the deep and dark waters)?
To be a professional mermaid or merman, you don't necessarily have to swim. You could strictly focus on doing dry-land gigs, if you'd like! And if you are comfortable with pools, you could swim in pools as well. I don't think most professional merfolk swim in deep, dark water for events (my situation and location is not typical). Some may do it for videos or for personal pleasure, but I don't think the large majority of us (except for maybe aquarium mers) swim in deep, dark water for events. 🖤
