I always interpreted the caretaker as having had his mind "adjusted" so many times by the Silence that there isn't very much left. I kinda feel sad that he has been reduced to a shell of a man living a half-life, trying to maintain an orphanage that has obviously failed, but he cannot comprehend the real state of it because his mind is so broken. It shows how far the Silence is willing to go to further whatever plans they have.
"You take ordinary people and fashion them into weapons" - Davros to the Doctor, Season 4. He was right. The Doctor knows there's only one way to defeat the Silence because they're everywhere, and so he does it. We're back to that darker side of the Doctor again. The Eleventh Doctor in particular is all sweetness and light unless you cross him - and then he really, really isn't. Love the new intro by the way, I meant to say that last time!
@@secondeye1574 It's not genocide though. Possible spoilers below:

The doctor killed a small faction of Silence that traveled back in time from Trenzalore to try and kill him. He didn't kill all of the Silence, and he even fought side by side with them on Trenzalore until the Daleks were finally destroyed.
Moffat almost never starts the second part of a 2-parter immediately after the first. Personally I really like that, since the opening is usually quite creative.
Also, the orphanage scene is one of the scariest Doctor Who moments imo. I remember being quite creeped out when watching it for the first time.
His first two-parter in Doctor Who does continue exactly where it left off.
"Go to your room!"
Really would have been terrible last words.
I don't usually comment on YT videos but just wanted to point out that on your A Christmas Carol reaction/review you talked about how Abigail's song mentions "silence" and how you "can't remember" the exact lyric which was so perfect it made me chuckle :D
Waited 2 weeks to post this to avoid spoiling anything, this two-parter is one of my favourites and definitely looking forward to your reactions and insights to the rest of series 6!
River: You've got a screwdriver! Go build a cabinet!
Doctor: That's really rude!
Moffat also used the joke about building cabinets in The Empty Child.
*spoiler for the 50th anniversary special*
He used it a third time with The War Doctor making fun of 10 and 11 after they first converge.
Yeah this Season is crazy! The silence are so cool!
And that music at the end with régénération is a masterpiece! And it's only the beginning of the Journey!! 😜👍
great discussions, the matt smith era has to have some of my favorite episodes and arcs.
I'd forgotten how good this episode was. I normally chicken out from pure horror content, but when there are creepy elements incorporated in an otherwise non-horror show, it feels very refreshing. Now that I think of it, a lot of the scarier Who episodes are among my favorites, and the creepier villains as well, like the Angels and the Silence.
The overarching plot of S6 is quite..something 😅 So many bits and pieces scattered throughout. I'm already very eager to hear what you'll have to say about the season as a whole.
8:12 I came back here after all this time just to highlight that here River shoots without looking, therefore without remembereing what she was shooting at, and probably not even remembering that she was shooting at anything at all before she turned around and again seeing the bodies.
It's just Rory's scared look that triggers her.
What!?!?
Yes...yes. That was my first reaction to the ending, too. Enjoy the ride of season 6; I'm really looking forward to your reactions!
Hearing your speculation about what is going on is great. Moffat's writing is so good and, at this point, complex, that it gives a wonderful opportunity for theorising. And I love hearing your ideas. A minor point is that I am not sure the Silence were on Earth before us (but I have not watched the full episode for a while so I could be wrong). They have been here a long time, yes, but not as long as the Silurians, say. Also, while some Silence would be killed, I imagine the plan is that they will leave Earth once they are going to be shot at.

Love your reactions. Can’t wait for July 8th, when you start with the final season of Dark. 🖤
I love rewatching this with you.
im really looking forward to your view on s6
clever with the editing at the start before the reaction starts with the film strip
Lovely reaction. I learned quite a bit about tv production which I will discuss with you at the end of the season. Love your breakdowns.
12:07 "The show itself is kind of directing the audience towards [the idea that the girl is Amy and Rory's daughter]." / 16:06 "The clues are there." Without saying whether any of your theories are correct, I love that fact that (a) there are indeed tons of clues so far as to exactly what's happening and (b) it's very easy to miss some or to interpret some of them incorrectly. In retrospect it is all kind of obvious, though :-)
22:09 I'm fairly sure that-unlike the Silurians-the Silence did not originate on Earth, so they are aliens, not natives. They are either an ancient race or they time-travelled to Earth's past at some point.
This is a wibbly wobbly timey wimey series. Can’t wait to see more reactions.
Nobody does wibbly wobbly timey wimey like Moffat.
A great series with wibbly wobbly time twisting events
Thanks for you reaction.
Also, can you watch mini-episods? They are short, sweet and funny. You really will enjoy it
end of probably the best run of episodes of the entire show. so far at least anyway.
The little girl could be a lost Time Lord she could be anything who knows?
Stephen moffatt, king of the 2 parter
Keep up the great work
This is so exciting!!!
This isn't Dark....
