Jeff, I've said this so many times, but I have to say it again. You have the best RUclips channel ever. I love seeing what other miners have built. Congratulations on 100k subs!!! Hope you get that silver play button soon. Thank you
The Trommel unit that Allan built is incredible! Simple and cheap to build! Love the recirculating water system, especially being in an area where water is scares!
Thanks for sharing the open desert prospecting technique. Always nice to view fellow prospectors inventions and approaches. Thanks for a great video and new viewing opportunity of another gold hunter.
Your most welcome, I do have an opportunity to go to Liberia to gold prospect and look into diamond mining on 2 different properties about 50 acres. The land belongs to a very good friend. Gold and diamonds had been said to be on this land. I would love any advice as this projects goes along.
Hey Jeff, congrats on the 100,000 subs! Ive been itching to get out and find some gold myself but winter is coming and im running out time to do that. I think I found a great spot to find some lode gold. The bed rock is made up of gneiss, mylonite rock with granite and pegmatite intrusions. There are lots of yellow and iron stained quartz veins everywhere. The mylonite and gneiss is full of iron it seems because most of them are completely rusted over. This is all part of what they call a metamorphic core complex. I did pan some material and found really small gold. I hope to find a rock crusher soon to sample all the quartz and pegmatites.
I deal with the red clay from CA. and it's hard to get all of the fine gold. I would definitely run your tailings through a gold cube, I think you might be surprised what you would get.
Jeff if you want to get a lot of gold what you should do is pass the material through the strainer of several measures or a trommel 3 meters long and that material processed by a table shaker, you will be crazy with the results
After I went to Gold Hog mats I’ll never use anything else.... running my old trash pile awaiting gardening I ended up recovering more gold that I initially caught with regular riffle setups and to think I have been throwing that stuff away. Jeff u should check out their multi sluice for reduction and getting to final cleanup... two runs; down to a cup on run one and then a teaspoon on final. I loved my gold cube but the retention on black sands was kinda cumbersome. I really wish you would do a vid with Doc sometime
BIG open pitt copper mines extract the atomic turqoise copper from the soils, but also get gold and other elements too. Most of the gold that’s left is atomic, which requires acids to extract.
I enjoy you videos they are very informative. I just wish I could afford to go prospecting ware the good gold is. Sadly I'm stuck in Kansas. Iv tried my luck in Wyoming and Colorado and got little to no AU. PLEAS keep the videos coming.
Jeff, it looks to me like the level of clay suspended in the water after a while would cause enough suspended solids to permit considerable fine gold to remain suspended. Has he sent the mud thru a second time with clean water and some Jet-Dry just to check? Maybe one of your viewers should figure out a remedy. Great video, Jeff, I always like to see how people's minds work to solve problems with new home-made equipment.
Hi Richard. I can process about a yard of material before the water needs purging. The fine silt settles primarily in the first tub. Virtually no silt in the third. I use Jet Dry. I have also reprocessed the material with fresh water and recovered nothing. Gold at -200 mesh if far heavier then the suspended micro-fine silt, and doesn't seem to effect the recovery. I'm currently designing a new dewater trommel that will screen filtrate down to 400 mesh, thus increasing my capacity to process more yardage with the same volume of water.
Jeff - Do you and Slim live in Arizona? I found a location in the Arizona desert where a deposit of old river bottom material is situated right on top of exposed granite bedrock. A perfectly clean termination between the river bottom material [very hard, like caliche] and the granite. Even though Slim doesn't talk much, you and him seem to know what you're doing. Let me know if you want to look at this place, or I can send you photos. I'd like for someone who knows about mining to tell me how to attack this deposit. No existing claims on the location. I checked.
No Adrian, I sort of use the “that looks good to me” approach. If you send me an email I’ll send you some photos of the highbanker I’m building at the moment. Dudley.welch@icloud.com
Oh no, not another *trommel*!!!! Every time I hear that word it makes me think I’m watching another episode of the tv show “Gold Rush” and their *trommel* has broken for the nth time ...
Ha ha ! I had the same thoughts, when one day, the water pipe to the trommel came loose and spewed muddy water all over the place. Was LAMO thinking of the Hoffman crew !
Adrian sandford , Do you have fabrication skills? Can you weld or bend sheet metal? You’d need those skills to make something like this. I’d help with ideas if you need me to.
There are a few videos out there that can help get you started. One in particular is titled " Trommel Build." The guy is making it to separate fertilizer, but could easily be converted to gold mining. If you go to my trammel video, I share some of the uniqueness of the design. Good luck to you !
I can not believe !!! A miner washes gold with the green pan, I think that you do not know the shaker table, the gold is very fine it has measures of 50, 100, 200 and 400 mesh !!!
That's awesome! Jeff Williams and Alan from Alen's trommel-- thanks guys, that was fun.
thanks and yes it was

The world loves a garage inventor. Brilliant use of a 5 gallon bucket. Loved it!
yes they do.
The Trommel unit that Allan built is incredible! Simple and cheap to build! Love the recirculating water system, especially being in an area where water is scares!

Nice..been wanting to make one from plastic pipe. Its nice and quiet too isn't it? All 12 volt just need a solar panel electric pump and a 44 mag.lol

I watch all his videos as well as yours Jeff. I would love to see his operation. I don't live to far from where he goes.
That trommel is super sweet!
I deal with the red clay from CA. and it's hard to get all of the fine gold. I would definitely run your tailings through a gold cube, I think you might be surprised what you would get.

That new trummel is just gonna make things get shiney

I know what you mean ....we are getting ready make a vid on how well the work.
BIG open pitt copper mines extract the atomic turqoise copper from the soils, but also get gold and other elements too. Most of the gold that’s left is atomic, which requires acids to extract.
Thanks Jeff. That's pretty cool.
you betcha,.

grats on 100k subs!!!!!!
THANKS
Wow I recognized the dewatering Trammell before I recognized Allen
Ideal for a one time shot, but 5gal buckets and rabbit wire wouldn't last me a weekend running crushed quartz.

Always surprised when I see prospectors or detectorists in the desert but not wearing snake gaiters.
The snakes were hibernating.
Sweet video I need a set up like this just don't know where to start
Adrian sandford , Do you have fabrication skills? Can you weld or bend sheet metal? You’d need those skills to make something like this. I’d help with ideas if you need me to.
actually Allan just put it together with PVC pipe and sheet metal screws
There are a few videos out there that can help get you started. One in particular is titled " Trommel Build." The guy is making it to separate fertilizer, but could easily be converted to gold mining. If you go to my trammel video, I share some of the uniqueness of the design. Good luck to you !
yeah i can weld use to make tractor buckets have sheet metal skills as well
thks Allan
You need to start selling your hat and Slims hat on your website, and not just baseball caps
is this place open for public ?
The area has active mining claims.
Nice trommel
Makes sense to me

Trusting a guy who wears white to a red clay dig site is like trusting CNN to help you land a 747 on a carrier deck in a hurricane.........SOLO
