So for the heart rate in multiplayer for it to go down fast everyone in the group has to be outside, if only half or a few are outside the heart rate drops slowly (tested it with 4 people already on the beta branch)
I honestly think they are from what I've played of the game (only 10 hours). The problem is they feel less scary/immersive because I don't get that moment where I see the ghost and run away and barely survive (though I guess I could now with the prayer mechanic added). I see the ghost and I know it's over...feels a bit anti-climatic. The flashing red also kinda breaks the immersion just like how Phasmo's flashing light always ruined the immersion when it was a thing. (Though not having it would be unfairly difficult.) Obsideo feels like you're playing against a Phasmo Revenant every time. I don't know how Insym's so good/lucky to avoid a lot of hunts in this game. I often just walk right into the ghost in the process of trying to find a room to hide in. Phasmo hunts are dangerous in that now you can actually have no idea one's going on until the ghost is right on top of you. The fact they can be attracted to sounds and electronics also adds to the panic. I get that using hiding spots can make Phasmo seem less dangerous, but then you can do Nightmare mode to counter that, or challenge yourself to not use the same hiding spot or whatever. I really enjoy doing challenges to make it more dangerous. One of my circles of friends that plays Phasmo has been doing the Trait Challenge (phasmotraitchallenge.com) and it makes for some funny games and sometimes very dangerous hunts.
@@kyleb8117 that's a good point. You want the hunts to be dangerous because if they aren't what's the point, but if they're too hard it takes an element of enjoyment away. Maybe they should do a ghost event function similar to phasmo? That way you can get visual experience of the different ghosts and have the hunts still be dangerous?
@@bigbeezy5056 Yeah, Insym commented on it in the original video and that was the impression I got when I played it the first few times. If it had regular ghost events, you'd get the satisfaction of seeing the ghost without feeling the need to risk your run during a hunt. I don't know what the best formula overall is for a game like this in keeping it engaging and scary, but also the right level of danger. I think Phasmo is pretty close on the ideal and that's a good part of why I think it's so successful. There's a variety of ghost danger levels. Rev is near impossible to loop (you'd have to sprint at the right time) so you would want smudge on you. Hantu is laughably slow in heated areas and can be looped just fine. Everything in-between will catch you if you risk finding a hiding spot too long. Some ghosts have ways to get a jump on you, either hunting early or hunting from a different location (Twins) or even jumping to your location. Outside of hunts, the ghost events keep players on edge and can seem like a hunt to people that are new to the game or distracted. That the ghost can move rooms now also adds to the danger. In Obsideo, you can just toss everything in the ghost room and check back on it to see if anything worked or come back a lot later and check music box or something. Gives you a chance to plan and avoid a hunt instead of panicking because you think it moved rooms and now you have a bunch of gear to move. Phasmo's change to make ghost interact with gear in close range during hunts is also brilliant as I mentioned previously. It feels like Phasmo has a good balance of engaging you and making you want to do various distracting side objectives. I think that's part of why I like doing challenges: you add more restrictions to focus you and/or more distractions to pull you from playing the ideal calculated game. I see a lot of potential in Obsideo for having a good mix of wanting to stay in the house to experience the ghost interactions and find evidence (ghost orb and finding the doll) but also wanting to get out and avoid hunts. The problem, imo, is waiting outside isn't fun if you don't have things to do in the journal (seems it might be faster now though?) and the hunts are so dangerous, I feel like I need to avoid them versus Phasmo where I'm thinking of where the closest hiding spot is or where I can cut line of sight with the ghost. Maybe I'm just being unfair and should consider it as just a different gameplay loop. It feels like criticizing a game for what it isn't meant to be. (e.g. if I were to hate on Amnesia: The Dark Descent because you can't kill the enemies or hate on Phasmo because you can't attack/exorcize the ghost.) I certainly think it's a good game and I don't regret buying it. I do also think Ghost Hunter's Corp does a good job of having interesting dangerous hunts. The problem with GHC is it's a bit too dangerous, imo. I feel like I always need to have a weapon/defense on me and playing solo is just insanely difficult because of that. I can't just go scan the house for occult objects and scan for ghost signs because I'll probably get jumped in the process. It really does a good job overall though, I think. I especially like that the ghost can break down doors (including the RV door). (Sorry for the wall of text. I tend to ramble.)
@@kyleb8117 I agree. I don't play any of them As sadly no PC but i enjoy the game play. I agree that being too critical causes you to forget what the game does well. That being said, I think a big part if the fun of these kind of games is the interaction. Personally, just feels like the big missing piece for Obsideo
Don't know if insym has a partner but if he gets one i hope they don't know what he does for a living and that he is a sleep talker. Waking up in the middle of the night to someone saying "where are your? Show yourself. Devil. God is dead. Ceiling. Behind you"
It'd be unfair to compare them since one has a lot more development than the other (and 3 devs now). I'd say they're different enough but I have yet to see one be a straight Phasmo clone so maybe your idea of "different enough" is stricter than mine. The main goal is the exorcism, which involves checking for every type of evidence and figuring out the ghost. The process of figuring out the ghost involves walking around the house and experiencing spooky interactions (like a painting floating down the hallway), which feels very different to Phasmo. Problem is, doing that will raise your heart rate which is what causes it to start a hunt. I can't say for sure how hard it is to hide from the ghost in hunts, but Insym seems to generally do fine while I tend to just die if it sees me or gets near me. (I haven't played since the prayer mechanic happened though.) You'll have to be in the house a lot to collect the evidence, too, and you can have maybe only one of them or you could get slammed with everything. Once you figure it out, you have to follow all the steps (they're in the journal) to exorcise the ghost, which often involve chucking stuff where the ghost is standing (coldest spot in the room). The game is still definitely in its starting stages. I don't know if I'd recommend it. I personally don't regret buying it, but I also don't play it often. If someone asked me to play Phasmo, I'd play in a heartbeat, and if I go too long without Phasmo, I crave it and play a solo match. I haven't really felt the urge to play Obsideo as much. Maybe 3 or 4 times I've gone back to play it and see what's changed. I can't knock it though, 'cause it's still a work in progress. It's making a lot of progress since I bought it. NGL, I'd probably play it more if it had VR support. (Same goes for Ghost Hunter's Corp.)
Old model for every ghost? I'm a bit confused here. I bought the game yesterday, during an exorcism we get this black shadow-like ghost model for all the ghosts. Am I missing something?

@@bigbeezy5056 Ah bummer. Yeah, I think that's a fair criticism.
Does anyone else love the music box song?
Don't know if insym has a partner but if he gets one i hope they don't know what he does for a living and that he is a sleep talker.
Waking up in the middle of the night to someone saying "where are your? Show yourself. Devil. God is dead. Ceiling. Behind you"

Could have fooled me if you said this was Phasmaphobia. Looks very similar.
is it better, worse? Different enough?
(Same goes for Ghost Hunter's Corp.)
its called pille of skulls insym
Old model for every ghost? I'm a bit confused here. I bought the game yesterday, during an exorcism we get this black shadow-like ghost model for all the ghosts. Am I missing something?
In multiplayer it's individual. So any one person with a high heart rate can cause a hunt.
This is truly a Pog moment
I think that last one might have been a fake hunt at first, and it busted because of the exorcism.
Cat hissing = demon hissing. Noted.
Has anyone ever seen the "portals to hell" evidence for the wraith? I've been playing a while and have yet to see it
