  • At one point in her career, Raquel Pennington was 9-7 and then 10-8, muddled in that zone where she was good enough not to get cut but not really making an impact in the UFC women's bantamweight division.
But since then, she's won six in a row and seven of her last eight, defeating Mayra Bueno Silva in January at UFC 297 in Toronto to win the title. On Saturday, Oct. 5 in the co-main event of UFC 307 in Salt Lake City, Utah, Pennington will make the first defense of her belt against Julianna Peña.
Pennington speaks passionately about her MMA journey and how real-life issues impacted her performance in the Octagon.
She's been more active than Peña and when asked if that was an advantage, she had a fascinating answer. She discussed what she called 'stage fright' and said it's different for each fighter.
