I actually cheese the hell out of this moments ago. I had something like 200 bandages on me and when my mech was blown out from under me I just out-healed the boss' DPS. I won the fight using my gun.
I ran through this modded with the shellguard mech and FU and still ended up getting pretty beaten down before finishing the fight. Tbh, it's one of the best fights in the game
I'm actually quite glad you made this video! It let me actually beat Swansong because of those Double Energy Blades and when I used em, It was destroying! I was lucky that I managed to beat his second phase... With very little energy left! Like it would take 2 hits left to get me defeated. The other gears I was using If I can remember correctly were Sleek Boosters, Sleek Legs (can't remember the name), and the Shark mech body (also can't remember the name). I'm very glad I found you, though!
I know a lot of people dislike starbound's combat, and to be fair it is rather simplistic, but this mission was top notch and more or less redeemed the whole game for me.
I now know what sets of weapons am I aiming towards now... Off topic, what are your thoughts on this one and only "Legendary" Mech Weapon that you get at the end of this mission?
Heya, when I first got it, I saw it had five bars of power, the only mech arm weapon to have five bars, I was pretty excited. I farmed for got two Solus Katana Mech Arms, then tried them out. They are most certainly good weapons, however for five bars of power, they perform much worse than the Energy Blades I was using. Two Energy Blades deal 1000 damage per combo, the Solus Katana Mech Arms do 600. However; The Solus Katana Mech Arms have a dash ability that stacks if you have the second one, you charge at your cursor at rapid speed, while doing so you ignore damage. It's a very situational item, it's great for rushing Mech bounties and other events that require fast movement, not so much dps wise. I have not tried using the Solus Katana Mech Arm with another item for a combo, I'm sure it can be used for some amazing combos! ~ Disc
I just tried rushing through this stage with two Solus Katana, and everything works amazing up until fighting Swansong, as I can just dash through enemies and laser-barriers without taking damage. During the last room before the boss, where I'm forced to fight a horde (which are like only 6 of them) of enemies, I kinda go forth-and-back into them (and it kinda reminds me of Pikachu's Up-B in Smash, strange). It's a fun experience, good for rushing things in my opinion. Its only bad matchups are probably stationary targets (turrets) and enemies with big hitbox (Swansong).
I actually had to do this fight with a grappling hook, and the aegisalt bow, while also chugging a ton of nonowrap bandages, because for some reason for the life of me, my mech couldn't keep up. Shockingly, I managed to defeat that boss, hundreds of bandages later.
Honestly, I think what makes this fight so hard is that your mech is so big and sluggish. In a bullet hell, that's not ideal. It's honestly a smart idea to go for dps in this fight
There's quite an erroneous error in Starbound's coding where your framerate controls your clients render speed, it's also a reason why you move exponentially slower while experiencing heavy lag - An example being movement speed, if you're running at 240 fps, you're running 4x faster than someone who is running at 60. (It's insanely unlikely that given Starbound's optimization that anyone will be able to achive that framerate without fullbright or a playable zoom level). From my testing, this only occurs with players with high refresh rate displays. As far as I know, this happened in a beta version of Fallout 76; again to my knowledge, that is the only other instance where this is the case. ~ Disc
@@Discipile How did you manage to boost your framerate for the game? im running a 2080 super and an i9 with 32 gb of ram and still stuck at 60 frames. Turned off vsync, thought it should have been fine on as im on a 165hz monitor.
Honestly, if you've ever played terraria (if you haven't, I couldn't recommend it more. It's very similar to this game) the final boss of terraria is an absolute beast.
@@thenormalformalandhormonal8531 Not exactly, Moon Lord is really easy to cheese with a good ranged weapon, a box and your trusty nurse If you're talking about EoL however...
The Swansong is a vanilla boss, added through the bounty hunter update that is the most recent vanilla content for Starbound. She's the final boss of the bounty hunter questline.
The Swansong doesn't drop anything directly, however; in the chest in the room to the right of the boss, accessible after defeating the Swansong - There's an item called the Solus Katana Mech Arm. In my opinion is it worth it to get two of them? No. I have made a video on them and my thoughts on them if you'd like a more visual representation of what they are and what they do. ~ Disc
The Swansong is a part of the standard game, no mods are needed! After doing all available Peacekeeper quests, Captain Noble will assign you a quest to arrest Arsa Nox - The quest is a mission located on your ship's computer.
"🥺I'm sowwy for trying to inciting a planet devouring demon of mass destruction-" BLAM!
to be honest here, i ended up beating the boss, but when Asra Nox said that she was sorry.. that made me rethink some things
finally we got a True Final Boss in this game
And competed storyline!
yes
Indeed! Its great!
it's the normal final boss, and is a bit disappointing
true final bosses are there to outshine those
Damn that’s a lame final boss
ow wow, someone who makes starboard content in 2021, you done got yourself a new subscriber amigo
can someone mod the hell out of this and put the swansong for us to use it as new veicle?
there is a Swansong mech mod... Want it?

Awesome! Least they're dead lol.
Tons of people on the Starbound Rencorner server do it all the time, too hard for 'em xD

Same
Get on my level, survive using only a shield and one-hand weapon.
Lol I did it too, and it was my first time fighting this big boy mech.

It took me a few tries to kill that boss because i had a terrible mech, but I got the action figure at the first kill :D
Cool boss fight. I like the first soundtrack.
This has to be the coolest boss in the game.

I don’t know how can you do rocket jump that fast.

what techs tdid you use?
Spike Ball, Rocket Jump, & Blink (With a mod that makes Rocket Jump & Blink slightly more usable)
why is it sped up? (the game speed i mean, or is it the video because i have video speed set to normal)

this boss was pain
I call it (because I have a mod installed) the RNGolem
I have beaten all the dark souls games, celest and hollow knight, and this is, without a doubt, the hardest boss fight I have ever played.

If you're talking about EoL however...
@SirBIocksaIot that is true. Doing him legit though is a PAIN. Especially if you consider the celestial event as part of the fight, like i do.
What are all the mech parts you used for this?
2x Energy Blade Mech Arm
1x Intrepid Mech Legs
1x Hammer Mech Boosters
1 Peacekeeper Mech Body
I also briefly showcased what I was using here: 3:13 !
is it a vanilla boss or it's from a mod

my computer will let me do this
well shieeeeet so basically what you are telling me is that your mech fights like me in pre school.
Do you know if he drops anything? Killing him once was pretty cancer, so I'm not trying again multiple times.

It does have a 5% chance of dropping a figurine

@@Discipile Omg. This ultra cool. Much cooler then final boss. It's and hard, but so cool. I must do this!
