We need to talk more about Parallels. Each time I hear this song, my battery is getting juiced up! And if you look at the guys in the video, it's doing the same to them! This is a highly underrated song by the fans, 3 other songs on this album get talked about more (you know which I mean). I love this song so much, I'm going to promote this to 1st and Awaken to 2nd, sorry.
When I heard this song 40 years ago, I thought that portent melody was by Rick Wakeman keyboards and was for me marvelous, but some years later I realized that it really was a Steve Howe gitar play, double unbelievable...
At the time, Going for the One was poo pooed by Yes faithful. Mostly because of the cover. 45 years later it should be recognized as one of their all time best.
Thanks very much. I wish we had some decent genuine archive footage of the band live at this period of its existence with decent accompanying audio recording.
Steve Howe and Chris Squire duo-handedly pushed this song. Of course Rick is great, Jon is Jon, and I think the drummer is Alan or maybe Bill......either one, it's still a fun tune to play.
It's Alan on drums and I'm bound to say as a drummer that it's the rhythm section - Alan and Chris - who are driving it, as can be heard in the studio sessions for the track. 😃 The interplay between Alan and Chris is just beautiful, especially those ghost notes Alan is putting in on the snare and Chris is playing on the bass to really fill out the rhythm and keep it driving. ruclips.net/video/hAQDL-tvd6U/видео.html
@@jtchivers Well hello to you from a fellow drummer. Drummers are the heartbeat of every band.......however......I'm also a guitarist, flutist, bassist, and keyboardist and I have my druthers too. YES is a conglomeration of well rehearsed and very talented musicians that, as a group, have produced some magnificent tunes. I picked my favorite two, you choose yours. Parallels is in the key of C Major which makes it even more fun to play. It's one of my favorite warm up tunes no matter what instrument I feel like playing on any given day. The only member of the group I can't hold a candle to is Jon..........what an outstanding voice, second to none. Keep on rockn'....
@@jtchivers Steve Howe and Chris Squire drove this tune. Rick Wakeman is playing keyboard backup....I know, I'm a keyboardist myself. Jon is the fill vocals for the duel between Steve and Chris. You're not a musician, I am. I'm also a percussionist......and the drums on this piece is not the limelight....but simply backup to Steve and Chris. Trust me, you don't have a clue musically.
Wicked bass line from one of the greatest! 😎🎸
Happy Heavenly Birthday to my favorite bassist of all time!!!!!!!!!!
Who's listening.? 2024!
Seeing Squire and Howe dancing and playing together like marionettes makes my day! 😎🎸
😊
I was in 1977 in Ahoy Rotterdam Yes concert!! Amazing!!
I was there in Rotterdam. Best Yesshow I ever saw (seen them about 12 times). The energy that came from the stage. It was incredible.
Great sound! I love Steve Howe’s guitar in this live version!
Certainly in the conversation of greatest band ever

❤ Chris ❤
I saw this show in Rotterdam in '77. It was great! Remarkable how much they sound like the original studio album.
Perfect everything, especially that guitar tone and bass tone. Ridiculous ear candy.
I was there in Glasgow Apollo for the show - superb gig !!

Les ai vus en 77 à Paris et bien d autres fois, découvert avec Yessongs en mon jeunes temps Amitiés à tout le monde
I saw them twice in the late 70s. What a band!
Awesome! Steve Howe is amazing
Nada mejor que escuchar un YES en mañana de domingo

Greatest band of all time
We always love Yes in Philly
150,000 at JFK in 1976!!!
And I always thought Steve used the trem on this song to achieve those wobbling, growling notes.
Steve Howe is a freaking monster. One of the very few best.
AWESOME !! THANKS FOR PUTTING THIS UP. FROM SEDONA, ARIZONA 🇺🇲
Thank you very much
It's the beginning of a new dimension...
To be an ever-opening flower...
I used to listen to this on my Victrola when it first came out.
Epic
Every time is number one for me
Wow!
Oh god thank you for this....
I tried my hand at this without knowing this video existed, and I have to say great job! (Better than mine)

Short neck on that guitar.

Saw this Tour in Oakland Ca. I have never witnessed anything like it!
It ruined me…nothing else ever compared 🥲
