Saw ZZ a few years back when she opened for Grace Potter at a Zoo Tunes show in Seattle. She kinda stole the show. She has sincere stage presence, strong song writing skills, plays several instruments and can SING! I wish more of today's contemporary "artists" had that package of tools to bring to the stage. Thanks for the music ZZ. Here's hoping you get your due real soon. You deserve it.
I love how humble She is. The Way She introduces her band members and recognizes their talent and What they're doing instead of Just making it all about her. rarely ever See that.
True talent, and a performer who isn't afraid to actually sing LIVE, no backing tracks and lip syncing. We saw her live before you got as big as she was in a somewhat small venue, and it was amazing. Her and her bands put on a great show, no lights, dancers, pyrotechnics, just good music and great performing.
You are seeing passion folks. Her soul is a throwback and her voice and range are incredible. Plays for the love of her art...you can see it when she sings. Talent.
Same happened to me. Got tickets to what I thought was Eric Clapton and WW Top, but surprised to realize I had something incredibly new coming my way. Gave her a few listens leading up to her and Mr. Clapton's concert and couldnt find a song I didnt like by her. Incredible live as well.
Really like this artist. Good voice, good songs, good band who could ask for anything more. Bought her CD, Til The Casket Drops, and I love it. Was happy to see she can deliver in person.
This lady channels the blues like no woman ever has. I love her songs and that raspy, amazing voice. I gotta see ZZ live someday - - bucket list kinda shit right there!!
She so natural and bit shy. Her song "Ride", where she is co writer , is an awesome masterpiece. Anyway, there is lot great stuff on the "the Storm" Release. An incredibly good looking Blonde with model shape . Quit like Joss Stone, but on the cool side of music. She could come out herself a bit more, she got the Voice and I bet the feeling anyway.
I was just thinking about it... It really bothers me that a band of musicians like this isn't absolutely JUMPED ON by the music industry today... Instead they prefer performers like Miley Cyrus and Lady Gaga who do nothing else other than sing, and all their vocals have to be run through a computer to fix the notes they miss.... Heartbreaking man. Heartbreaking.
I agree the drummer and bassist abilities surpass hers, but they choose to play with her and work with her, that means there's a quality about her that can be cultivated with more playing experience in shows and practice. Rather than recycling with another vocalist, you can see there's a chemistry there that is worth holding on to as a band. There are some moments where she is really ON and its up to her to continuously find that in order to improve. I think she's got it.
+leanne canillas I couldn't agree more. She often surrounds herself with very talented individuals which can only serve to better her musicianship. I think her voice is great though. This performance isn't her best but its still a good listen. She kills it at Jam in the Van.
I love ZZ ward but hate it when people talk about live performance when part of the performance is prerecorded music sections and backing tapes. The whole point of live is that it is different and often far more dynamic than a recorded performance. Apart from that she is a sensational talent along with Ginny Wigmore and Anya Marina
Hate to break it to ya, but unless it's Vince Gill or Fleetwood Mac or some analog-era legend, EVERY performer has SOME backing tracks. When I'm running the soundboard for country concerts, their managers always tell me to turn the backing tracks UP. Back in the day, you could make alot of money making music, so the Bands could afford to pay for additional musicians on stage. Guarantee that ZZ Ward's tour income is strictly covering gas, food, hotels, the album expenses, $300 per head on stage, and mediocre weed.
I can't believe I just learned about this. I wanna go back in time and be at that show. "If you could go back in time and ..." pfft, hitler. I wanna be at this show.
Just check on her, I saw a video of her with Billy Gibbons, Joe Satriani, and Orianthi, I think that video was in 2017, she was thinner there and still pretty. I will try to check on some of her videos. 👍
in 23.01 what does she do? look like she put her hand together and bow her head for show her respect. I know in 22.59 she just put her harmonica on the stage.
RhythmAddictedState people tend to sound very different live. even more so on a video. When they are in studio they touch it up so much. But ZZ Ward still sounds amazing live!
too bad the vocals are so far behind the talent of the bassist. The drumming and bass are so much better than the singer that it's like listening to 2 bands at the same time. Her voice has no home. She slides in an around the boundaries of country but no soul.
As a huge fan of blues/bluesy sounds and female vocalists with raspy voice ZZ is a feast for the ears.
She's so real. So natural. And she has a beautiful and powerful voice. I just wish she was more popular, she deserves it so much!
I totally agree with you. I don't know how she is not more popular.
I agree I’ve seen her on stage for the first time and loved it but I forgot to get her Autograph ;-;
I dont even understand why she isnt whats going on?

That drummer Chris is phenomenal !!!! He most certainly stole those drums !!!
The more I listen the more I really like her music! I have not enjoyed one artist music in 20 years. Thanks for keeping it real!
There is no denying that ZZ Ward is simply amazing.

She's phenomenal, the whole band is great but that bass player is 🔥 FIRE 🔥
You are seeing passion folks. Her soul is a throwback and her voice and range are incredible. Plays for the love of her art...you can see it when she sings. Talent.
I predicted that she would be bigger than she is by this time. It's time for a new album. Come on ZZ don't keep us waiting
Massive of Love 💕

Really like this artist. Good voice, good songs, good band who could ask for anything more. Bought her CD, Til The Casket Drops, and I love it. Was happy to see she can deliver in person.
Gonna see zz at the amp in Saint Augustine in August 2024. It'll be a good blues lineup but zz is who I'm going for.
She's right when she says everyone is staring at her. That's because she is soooo talented

Deliciosa la música
Rock 'n' soul music, sista.
I wish she would tour around Buffalo area
Yas to the black drummer and Asian keyboardist
If you really want to hear how well she can sing... Listen to her sing with Robben Ford on "Breath of Me"!!!
still a good song

What the heck are you talking about?!! On her CD's sure, but this is all live.

Zz ward. Caro emerald. Billie Eilish. Gin wigmore. Courtney Love. Not in any particular order but they lift me off my feet.
She's great but the bassist is a god.
she's cute!
What's with her voice? She usually sounds better! :/ Sick maybe? She still sounds good though! :)
RhythmAddictedState people tend to sound very different live. even more so on a video. When they are in studio they touch it up so much. But ZZ Ward still sounds amazing live!
Great band but the electric guitar is out of tune on got it bad... :(
She wants me.
